Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan
by Lighthouse66 This is an Instant Wash off tan from Rimmel which I purchased in Light/medium but can be purchased in darker colours dependant on your skin type. I am rather fair and didn't want to look orange so decided that the light-medium would be the best option. I was using this for my partner's family party and wanted to make the right ... impression, I am a huge lover of fake tan (When done correctly) but hate how easily it can go wrong. That is what I love about this, the fact it is wash off! If I make a mistake just jump in the shower and start again -Perfect! Fake tan can be messy and awkward but using a mitt this seemed so easy to apply and I have felt more relaxed as I knew the colour wasn't permanent. After waiting around 10 minutes for it to dry I got dressed and it was perfect. It doesn't have that horrible self-tan smell and has a lovely shimmer to make you 'glow' it lasts all night and then you just wash it off without any problems. The colour is absolutely lovely and for the price - I paid £2.99 on sale in Superdrug you just cannot go wrong. I love that you can use this on your face as well as your body, lasts so long as well, I have had this tub for over a month now and still half a bottle left. Perfect product that I would highly recommend. As far away from that awful 'orange' look as you can get. Read the complete review |

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan
by sarahrichmond5 I was going for a much deserved night out a few weeks ago and wanted to wear a dress that I love but when I tried it on it looked awful because my legs were so pale!! I have used quite a few fake tans before but just wanted one that I could use quickly, cheaply and one that would wash straight off as I hadn't done it for a ... while and was worried about making a horrible mistake and ending up having to go out in jeans. I picked this up from my local bargain store it cost me £2 which I thought was a brilliant price. I wouldn't be too bothered if it all went wrong as I hadn't spent a fortune on it as I have been known to do in the past. There are a couple of colors available I went for the lighter one as my skin is very pale and I didn't want my legs to be a ridiculous dark color and the rest of my body deathly white! I also chose the matte one. I went home, had a shower, exfoliated my legs and then got to work on applying the tan. The first thing that hit me was the smell. All fake tans have a smell and this one is no different. It isn't the worst I have smelt though but still noticeable. I applied the tan as directed on the bottle. I tried to do it as evenly as possible which is quite difficult. I used a glove to apply it as I didn't want my hands to be all stained and I would recommend anyone using any fake tan product to do the same. The tan went on nicely and I managed to get it quite even. The only problem areas were my knees but I think that was down to me having dry skin in this area rather than the product itself. The tan stayed on well until I washed it off the next morning. I didn't notice any streaks or anything so I was really pleased with the product overall. If you want a quick and non permanent tan then this is definitely worth purchasing, at that price you really can't go wrong! Read the complete review |

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan
by Sassy29 ~*~ What is it?~*~ Rimmel sun shimmer instant tan is a self tanning lotion. It is instant tan which means the colour transfers onto your skin straight away, unlike gradual self tanners which can take hours/days. It can be used on your entire body, including your face and lasts up to 24 hours. This product washes off in the ... bath/shower. The instant tan comes in a 125ml, brown, shimmery tube with a flip top lid. On the front of the tube is the products name, what it does and what shade it is. On the back of the tube is the shade selection guide, a warning ( which states that this is not a sunscreen, and that it does not protect against sunburn) and the ingredients. This instant tan comes in three different shades: fair, light and medium. ~*~ Price and availability ~*~ I purchased my tanning lotion from Superdrug for £5.99 a few weeks ago, but it is currently on offer (May 13') for £2.99 and it is on a 3 for 2 offer. You can also purchase this in Boots and some supermarkets. ~*~ Application ~*~ Befor applying any tanning products I always have a shower, shave, exfoliate and moisturise. I pay special attention to my knees and elbows, and never put on deodorant before hand. To apply the tanning lotion you simply squeeze out the cream/gel, which is dark brown in colour, apply it to the area/areas you wish to tan (I usually use a tanning mitt, otherwise your hands turn brown) and allow some time for it to dry. It takes about 5-10 minutes to dry, during this time I usually do a weird robot dance as I think it helps it to dry ( this dance usually consist of me waving my arms and legs around, not too sure if it actually helps). ~*~ My thoughts *~* My natural skin tone is fair to medium so I went for the fair shade, as I only wanted a subtle tan/bronze. The great thing about this tanning lotion is if you do want a darker colour you only have to wait for the tan to dry and then reapply, which builds up the colour. The consistency of the tanner is quite thick, almost like a gel and smoothes onto the skin with ease. The product blends into the skin very well, it is easy to see if you have missed any spots and if you have missed any areas it is easy to correct. This tanner did not leave my skin looking streaky or orange. However if you do come into contact with water (Great British weather) it can come off easily which does leave patches/streaks. It is extremely shimmery and makes your skin glow. I love that in photos I don't just look like I have a tan, it also makes my skin look radiant. This product does not have the usual 'fake tan' smell, it actually smells similar to talcum powder. This smell does not last very long, especially after I have used half a bottle of Gucci Flora. I don't tend to use this on a daily basis, I noramally save it for when I am going for a night out or on holiday. It is great if you already have a base tan and you want to just top it up. Or if you have no tan at all (like me) it makes the skin look less pastey. The first time I ever used this tan I didn't have a tanning mitt (glove) so I used my hands, this was a massive mistake as my hands looked darker than the rest of my body. After this experience I always use a mitt and definitely recommend to anyone using an instant tan to apply the product with one. They are very cheap and well worth using. I have found that this tan can transfer from my skin onto my bed sheets, especially if it is a hot night, but it is not a great deal of mess and washes out no problem. ~*~ Would I recommend? ~*~ I would definitely recommend this self tanning gel as it is easy to apply, leaves a even shimmery, sun kissed glow and washes off with little effort. I think this is an absolute bargain for £2.98 (compared to more expensive tanners like St Tropez) and I would still pay the full price of £5.99. The only down side is that is if it rains than the tan can become streaky, but I think this is the same for most wash off tanners. Overall I give this product 5 out of 5 Dooyoo stars.
