The product: AVON SUN+ UVA UVB Medium Quick Dry Clear Spray - SPF 20 Size: 150ml Bottle is a nice yellow/orange colour and features womanly curves What it claims: 2 hour protection There are icons on the bottle that inform you that the bottle is recyclable and the product needs using within 24 months of opening. To use: The downside of this product is you are supposed to apply half an hour before going out in the sun. Now we all know in the British weather, we grab it when we can, so a half hour lead time is a bit unrealistic for a "home" use product. Simply spray on and allow to air dry half an hour before going out in the sun and re-apply every 2 hours. Advises not to spray directly onto face. Review: The bottle is a nice shape to hold, and looks nice in the bathroom, east to spray, nice coverage for areas I cannot reach very well, such as my back, when I'm on my own or all over if I am in a hurry, as so much easier to apply than the usual cream version that takes ages to rub in. The fragrance reminds me of hair products at the hairdresser, so maybe it uses the same propellant, I don't know but it is quite subtle and acceptable. I have not put this on my face and neither would I risk spraying near my eyes, but I don't have the confidence in it to rub onto my face either, preferring the comfort of a cream product on this sensitive area. The previous product Avon Bronze came in a 250ml bottle and was obtainable for about the same price, yet this appears to be only repackaged and smaller. The 24 month shelf life is extremely comfortable, even in a typical British summer, you would hope to use it all within 2 years and it is longer than many similar products recommend. The half an hour before going out lead time is not always realistic ie in a lunch break, grabbing sun between the clouds. Advantages: Quick and easy to use Attractive bottle Long shelf life Disadvantages: Should apply half an hour before going in the sun Smaller bottle Best For: Holidays in the sun Difficult to reach areas A quick top up Other information: Available from Avon catalogues, Avon on-line, eBay sellers. Priced at £12.00 Avon frequently run good offers and I paid £12.00 for 3 items. Feb 14 Update: I've stopped buying Avon as I have found a Vichy supplier!
I'm a big fan of Avon's factor 50 sunscreen, but have trouble applying it to my back when I'm on my own. For this reason, the last time I topped up my sunscreen supplies, I purchased a couple of bottles of this clear spray to go with it. The idea being that I could apply it to my own back and if I made a mess of it, you hopefully wouldn't be able to tell! I ordered my off-season last year and I'm sure I only paid around £4 per bottle for this, on offer from a full price of, or under, £10. However the Avon Shop website is currently showing it at a retail price of £16! I'm quite surprised by this significant price hike. Avon do regularly put their products on offers, but I find the current offer price of £9.50 really quite high for an Avon product. I'm disappointed that Avon would increase the price by so much in such a short space of time. This isn't the only price you have to pay when using this product. The first time I sprayed it onto myself, I found myself double-checking that I'd picked up the correct bottle and not just coated myself in my son's hair product by mistake. The smell of this product is overwhelming and takes a long time to disperse. It's very clearly a hairspray smell, and it clings to your clothes and isn't easily masked by perfume. I don't mind the scent terribly myself but I know that others won't be pleased with it. When you spray it onto yourself it feels wet and can trickle down your skin in little pools if you hold the spray too close to your body when using it. For this reason it's best to use it before you put your top on to avoid damp patches while still ensuring that all of your exposed skin will be coated and protected. When topping up throughout the day, it's harder to avoid getting it on your clothes while still protecting your skin, but this can be helped somewhat by holding the bottle at arm's length to disperse the spray as widely as possible. Although this isn't a product that needs rubbing in exactly, it does leave an oily residue on your skin upon application, that you can spread out with your fingers. To look at this, it looks more like watery baby oil than typical sunscreen. It does at least work very well in that it really is a truly clear sunscreen. If you follow the instructions, you'll come home from a day out in the sun free from sunburn with soft, well protected skin. It's factor 30 (not 20 as the picture here shows) which is a nice, high, safe factor to protect your skin from damage. It isn't a long-lasting spray unfortunately, so you need to apply it half an hour before going out, and then again every couple of hours thereafter. This means your product doesn't last very long. It would be much more convenient, and much better value for money, if they could develop a product that would last longer and require fewer applications.
=Avon Sun Quick Dry Clear Spray= This is another one of my multi-buys, but the big difference is this is a clear dry spray. =The Bottle= The bottle is a 150ml bottle, it's a yellow plastic bottle, with a pump spray action, it does come in different factors, and this one was a Factor 20. =To Use= It is always recommended to put suntan lotion on at least 30 minutes before you go in the sun and reapply frequently, such as swimming, excessive towel drying or even sweating. =Pump and Go= To start the spray you need to pump the spray release about 3 or 4 times for the lotion to come up the spray. once you spray it does come out clear, so really you need to be logical with this otherwise your end up spraying the same leg twice!! =Drying Time= This dries within about 2 to 3 minutes, it does not leave any shine or sheer, smell wide it does have a smell slightly clinical smell, it's not a heavy smell. =Top Up= I prefer to use this as a top up spray, for when I'm the pool, as if I double spray and area at least I'll be covered. =My little niggle= I have used the kids F30 spray which is a turquoise colour and I find this brilliant as you can see what areas you have done. This idea could be taken through to the clear range just buy some time. -Value for money= This is excellent value for money, and even better when there in promotion. (Just have to look in shed in the cupboard, there's about 10 bottles of sun tan lotion and after sun in there, =Would I recommend= I would highly recommend this spray, and if you buy it as part of a £ for £xx offer there excellent value for money and you can but a mixture of strengths
My skin is very fair so when using sun cream I have to use a high factor otherwise I burn. When looking through my avon catalogue I saw sun care products on offer, 2 for 3, so I thought I would give them a go. I got the avon sun quick dry clear spray spf 30 in with this offer. It came in a bright yellow bottle with a spray lid. On the front of the bottle was a label with the logo and what the product was. On the back was the directions of use and the ingredients. Usually the higher the factor the thicker the product and you end up looking whiter than when you started because its wont rub into your skin, this product is not like that. It is a clear liquid which feels like an oil. I was worried that it would leave my skin feeling greasy, but it didn't it rubbed in very easily and you couldn't even tell it was there. The only thing I found wrong with it was that when spraying it it is quite difficult to grip the bottle but other than that the product itself is great.
I got a bottle of this for the Holiday that I was just on last week. I got this one for my Husband as although he gets a lovely Tan, we all still have to apply some Sun protection of course. I purchased this one as it is a spray one, and I know he is a bit of a lazy man and no doubt the thought of having to actually rub some Sun Cream in would be a bit of a chore, so I knew that this would be a quick fix for a Sunny Day. This comes in a 150ml bottle and I would say the right price of this varies. I think this cost around £5 when it came out, but there is a few offers that go on in Avon. The offers seemed to range from buy 1 product get 1 free, 3 products for £10 and so on, This covered the whole of the Sun range, so you could pick up some After Sun or Sun Creams in different factors. This one was Factor 20. The bottle looks alright. It is a bright enough yellow colour and quite a flat bottle so this is easy enough to hold and spray. It is a pump action spray bottle and a few squirts of this cover a large enough area. I was expecting this to be quite a strong smelling scent, but it is a not bad smell. It smells a bit clinical like, but not too much chemically scented. It's alright. As the name suggests this is a clear spray and that it dries quickly. I would say after spraying this then it is dry just a minute of 2 later. I used this on a couple of occassions myself and it dried fine and didn't feel that kind of tacky, slighty sticky way that sometimes happens with spray lotion. This provided a good sun protection and for 20 seconds worth of effort then this will protect you from the Sun's Rays. I would recommend Avon's range of Sun Care products as they do the job they are meant to do and the prices for the products are good enough as well.
I always try to be good in the sun, always use no less than SPF15, and having used Avon products before, and swear by their sun lotion range, I purchased this years supply for my holidays through Avon once more. A new product, which was a quick dry spray, and was also on offer, was this sun lotoin in SPF20. It is a 150ml bottle, which, as it says, is a spray rather than the lotions I have used in previous years, it comes in an orange plastic bottle with clear lid. Normal price is £12.00 but Avon always do offers, they currently have an offer 3 for £10 on sun range, at the time of my purchase I had 2 items for £7.00 *****Product in use***** I am not a fan of sprays, as I find they usually end up breaking before you have used the bottle, nothing more annoying than trying to get lotion out that you know is in there, but the spray cap has stopped working, so, am pleased to note, that this item did not have that defect, and sprayed perfectly all the way to the end of the bottle. It is called a dry spray and is certainly that, no sooner did I spray it on, it seemed to be soaked up by my skin, some may think this a good thing, however, in trying to get all over coverage, at times you need to try and rub in what you have sprayed to hard to reach areas, this is something you could not do due to the quick dry formula, unfortunatly, this did result in areas not being covered as they should have been so experienced a few red bits here and there. I did not like the smell, it seemed to remind me of a fasle tan lotion smell? Sorry, no other way to describe it, but, as it is not a self tanning product, was not expecting that kind of smell from it. Perhaps because it was so quick drying I found myself going through this bottle very quickly, so do not think it lasts as well as a lotion or other sprays may have done. *****Rating***** I was not to impressed with this product, as per above, did not feel it covered well, lasted well and had an odd smell, but, bottle and spray cap worked well, and it is advertised as a quick dry spray which is definitely what it is, so, I am just giving this a star rating of 3. I will not be purchasing this item again.
