This is a really great after sun product from Biotherm which really takes care of my skin and enhances the tanning effects of the sun while locking in moisture and stopping my skin from drying out. It leaves my skin with a healthy glow and has a replensihing effect on it. Packed full of vitamins E,F and A it also has shea butter which is a great product on your skin.
Biotherm products make use of thermal plankton as an active ingredient and this product is no different. The cream itself is rich and creamy and absorbs into my skin very easily so you do not need to use a lot in any one application. This also helps because it is not a cheap product to buy. A 200ml tub cost me £18.99 which is a price I was pleased with as I have seen it on the shelves for 324.99 in some department stores.
Applying it to my skin there is an instant cooling effect which really does sooth my skin, it has a lasting effect and is very refreshing, oils in the cream also help to invigorate my skin and give it a nice tight feel to it as well as a healthy amount of elasticity. It traps in moisture and rehydrates my skin very effectively indeed.
The packaging is simple and functional, a screw top lid making access to the cream easy, it is a vivid blue colour which is very cool, just like the contents. It is lightly fragranced and while upon application I can detect a feint floral fragrance it is not a smell that lingers on the skin for long.
Whilst it is not exactly cheap it is an excellent product and one that I would certainly recommend if the summer ever does arrive.
I have tried a few biotherm products over the last year or so and generally found them to be quite good but a little expensive. This is not exception to the rule.
The cream is designed to brighten up a tan, it is marketed as an iridescent cream that softens skin and leaves a pearly sheen improving the appearance of your skin. I really liked the idea that this cream might offer the benefits of a highlighter whilst coming in the form of a cream which also moisturises. I often find after applying my makeup that my skin can feel a little dry and I thought this might provide the perfect solution.
The cream comes in a turquoise shiny pot with screw lid. The pot is a decent size at 200ml but still appropriate for travel usage. I like the colour of the pot, it gives it a summery look and feels very fresh. The pot has writing on the front which describes the product and displays the name of the brand. It does say on the pot that this is an after sun product, I didn't actually use it for this purpose but I can imagine it would do a good job. I like that the biotherm products don't rely too heavily on fancy packaging, it makes me think that they invest more money in creating a good product than in create a gimmick to sell it. I think the jar is also very useful as it allows you to use all of the product and to visibly see how much is left of it. I do think though that this kind of jar encourages you to use more than you might in a squeezy tube, although obviously you can actually put it back into the jar whereas you wouldn't be able to in a tube if you dispensed too much.
The product is designed as an after sun but I mostly use it as an illuminator. It can be applied to body or face but I prefer to use it on my face as this limits how much I am using. It is perfect for the summer months as it adds a dewy effect to your makeup that looks very hydrated and natural. It gives you a fresh look and makes your makeup feel very lightweight over the top. It absorbs very quickly into your skin and feel lovely once it is applied. It does make my skin feel smooth and hydrated and gives a lovely pearly effect to my skin. I use it either as a base moisturiser or in combination with my foundation/tinted moisturiser.
I find it has a lovely cooling effect and I can imagine if you did have sore patches from too much sun exposure then this product would be fabulous. I also think it has a lovely fresh fragrance as well, this isn't essential for me but it does come as an added bonus with products I apply to body or face.
The product retails at £20.50 for 200ml at Boots. I am really torn about the price. I think the product is good and is perfect for summer. I do like the effect it has on my makeup and I'm sure it would work well on burnt or sore skin. However, I think £20.50 is a ridiculous price especially when there are other products on the market which offer similar quality at a lower price. If I use a highlight and a moisturiser combined I would instantly lower the cost and it would last longer too. I can't say anything especially negative about the product because I enjoyed using it I just think were it £5 cheaper I'd return to it again and again.
A bit pricey for an after sun cream.
I tried Biotherm products for the first time when they were on a 3 for 2 in Boots, they are quite expensive and so at least this way you get them a little bit cheaper. They very often are on 3 for 2 in Boots I find, and so I always wait to replace products or to try new products then. I have also occasionally bought Biotherm products duty free, again to save some money.
This is massively expensive for an after sun, but it is quite a large tub, 200ml, and I do find that it does last for absolutely ages.
I don't actually use this as an after sun, I don't put myself in the postion where I've had too much sun and burn. I normally use this as an illuminating body moisturiser during the summer months.
I really like that this is in a tub rather than a tube or a bottle, I find it so much easier to just scoop out what you need. Also the tub means that I will use every last bit of the after sun, none of it will be thrown away as I can't squeeze it out of the tube or the bottle, I think that at these prices this is an important thing to consider!
A little bit of this gorgeous aftersun does go a long way, it rubs into my skin really easily and it completely disapears, leaving no stickyness behind. It feels really really moisturising, and it leaves my skin super silky and soft. This feels really cooling on your skin as you rub it in, and it leaves behind a lovely illuminating pearlesent shine. I find that this is perfect for the summer months, it brightens up and enhances my skin with a gorgeous pearly glow. I have very pale (milk bottle white!) skin, with tonnes of freckles and this looks really natural on me. I would also imagine that it looks great with a tan.
One of the best bits about this after sun is the gorgeous refreshing summery fragrance, it is not too overpowering so as to clash with perfume, it is just a really subtle beautifull summery fragrance with peach, raspberry, jasmine and musk.
I also occasionally use this over the winter months as well to give my skin a healthy glow and sparkle for a night out.
When our skin is exposed to the sun it can become dehydrated which leads to wrinkles and premature aging of the skin. After the sun has set, your skin needs its moisture levels replenished and this is why we need to use an After Sun skin product. There are plenty of these products out there for a variety of prices but this is one of my favourite ones.
Oligo-Thermal Sparkle Cream is an After Sun product that has been created by Biotherm. Biotherm is a brand which creates natural beauty products for us to enjoy. It promises to sooth and cool your thirsty skin while giving it an intense moisturisation and prolonging your tan. It also leaves your skin looking healthier and the colour of the product will leave you will an ethereal sheen to your skin.
I'll admit I was attracted to the name of the product before I even knew what it was. I love anything that sparkles so much that I wonder whether I may have been a magpie in a former life! Before you panic though, this is not a glittering cream. It is a pearlescent cream which makes your skin glow with health.
In order to replenish the moisture levels of the skin, the product contains Shea Butter which has been used for centuries due to its hydrating properties. The butter is absorbed quickly and as it contains Vitamins A, E and F, it is highly nutritious for the skin. It improves the skins elasticity, meaning that your skin will look toned, youthful and healthier. It also contains a type of natural sugar called glycerol which attracts water into the skin.
In order to soothe your skin that has been frazzled in the sun, the cream contains an extract of Thermal Plankton, an ingredient whose benefits in beauty products was discovered and patented by Biotherm. It is a substance found in thermal springs where the water is surrounded by legends and myths. The water was allegedly used by Gallo-Roman Warriors who believed the water could heal their wounds.
This mysterious substance performs a cooling and soothing action on your uncomfortable skin. It helps the skin to develop an invisible barrier to protect itself against the elements and it works its way in the skin to prevent premature aging.
The new healthy appearance of your skin will also be thanks to the softening oils which have been swirled into the mixture which moisturise the skin. By creating a barrier on the skin, it means moisture can be retained by the body which will prevent any later peeling or flaking of the skin. The shimmering elements included will give your skin a healthy radiance.
The product is to be applied in the same way as you would apply your normal After Sun. I scoop the cream into my hands and massage it into my skin until it has been fully absorbed. You can apply the product after sun bathing as often as it required.
The product costs around £20 for 200ml of the cream. It comes in a beautiful aqua blue cylindrical tub with a screw top lid. The design of the packaging means that the cream is easily accessible and that none will go to waste as it can be with a tube. Although if you have long nails, it can get them messy!
This product smells deliciously refreshing. It has a fruity floral fragrance which is perfect for the summer and the aroma will begin to remind of happy sunny days. The product contains peach and raspberry, jasmine. There is also a hint of musk that is subtle.
Sometimes it's hard to see how an After Sun is any different to a moisturiser and it can be just another way to make more money by selling a glorified moisturiser. But this one is different. The lotion is so cool and soothing on my skin when I've been in the sun that it makes me instantly feel more comfortable. If you store the product in the fridge then it's even better.
It is highly moisturising so it makes my skin look tanned for longer as my skin never gets dry enough to flake away. My skin no longer gets that dull appearance that can happen with time. The smell is delicious and summery without being over powering.
The cream itself is an iridescent pearl coloured solution. It has no obvious glitter or shimmer and is really like a giant tub of highlighter to illuminate your skin. It silky smooth to apply, absorbs instantly and doesn't feel greasy and sticky. The sheen is gives your skin is beautiful and make you feel very special.
The product is expensive and I bought it as a special treat but I would say it was worth the money. If you shop around alone you may get it for cheaper, although it is a fairly new product. The After Sun is fairly long lasting and you'll only use it on holiday or when the sun shows its face here, which unless you are extremely lucky, won't be that often!
It makes my skin incredibly soft and people have complimented me on the health of my appearance. Not bad for someone whose diet consists mainly of chocolate and pizza!
