Boots Soltan Self Tan Mitt
Advantages: Even tanning, Streak free, Mitt can be washed
Disadvantages: Mitt can stain slightly
I only ever wear fake tan when I'm going out on the town or have a special occasion coming up. One of my friends uses her hand when applying fake tan; how-ever her hands do appear a little orange, even after washing them. I didn't want the same thing to happen with my hands and I wanted and even application so I decided to buy a self-tan mitt.
~ PRICE/AVALIABILITY ~
I purchased the self-tan mitt from boots which cost me £2.66. They also sell self-tan mitts in Superdrug; how-ever I don't think it's the same brand as the one from boots. Boots sell about 3 different self-tan mitts but this was the cheaper one, which is why I went for it.
~ THE MITT ~
The mitt comes in a sealed plastic pouch. On the front it states that the mitt can be used to apply fake tan to the body for an even coverage. On the back of the packet there is a small amount of information about how to use the product.
The mitt is soft and velvety on the applicator side. When you are ready to apply the fake tan you simply slip your hand inside the mitt. This is easily done as the mitt is quite large but not too large so it will fall off your hand. I dispensed a small amount of tanning lotion onto the mitt and then started to spread this evenly over my legs. I always apply the fake tan in circular motions so I don't get streaking. The mitt felt soft against my skin and it spread the fake tan across my legs very well, giving an even coverage all over. I continued using the mitt for the rest of my body. The results were great, my tan looked even and there was no streaking or tell-tale marks that it was fake tan.
~ CARING FOR YOUR MITT ~
The mitt can be washed and re-used. I simply wash the mitt in some warm water and put a little facial wash on the mitt and rub the mitt together to help shift the product off the mitt. I then rinse off until the water runs clear and leave this to air dry. I have done this a few times with the mitt now and it washes well every-time and always comes out looking nearly as good as new.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
Although I have never used my hands to apply any fake tan product, after using the mitt I don't think I ever would. The mitt is soft and gives a lovely finish to applying your fake tan and you don't end up with orange hands. Because the mitt is washable, it means it lasts a long time and you can just keep re-using it until you think you need to purchase another one. I would highly recommend this mitt to others who regularly use fake tanning products. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars.
