      great affordable product

The sun made a rare appearance last weekend and after doing the standard British thing of running to the beach at the mere suggestion that it will be a nice day, I returned home with arms so pink they looked almost fluorescent. Underestimating British sun is something I do a lot of the time - I think the mere fact that I live in Britain makes me believe it won't be THAT hot and a cool coastal breeze always takes the edge of the heat anyway. Realising my error, I marched off to Boots the day after to stock up on a higher factored sun cream and some after sun in an attempt to transform my lobsterfied skin into a tan, or at least to stop any peeling. The range of Soltan after sun is so vast in Boots that I spent a good 15 minutes looking at all the different products before finally deciding on the shimmering after sun gel. Soltan after sun was (and still is I think) half price so this 200ml bottle cost me around £2.50 which I thought was very good value. This gel claims to cool and soothe skin, reduce peeling, give a subtle instant shimmer and prolong your tan whilst being non-greasy, easily absorbed, non-pore blocking and hypoallergenic. I agree with all of these claims, it feels really nice to put on and cooled my skin down a treat. It smells fresh and leaves your skin looking smooth and shimmery. The directions say to apply to body and face, however, personally I would advise against applying it to your face unless you want to look like a disco ball as it does have glitter pieces in. The smell is fresh and non-overpowering, it possibly smells of aloe vera but I'm not too good with scents. This didn't prevent peeling completely for me but I do think it helped reduce it a lot. The only negative point I have to make is unlike other after suns, this doesn't give you that truly moisturised feeling and I found myself using a moisturiser as well on drier parts of my skin. This is probably because it's a gel rather than a cream. All in all, I think this is a great, affordable product and would purchase again.
