“ Brand: Boots / Texture: Cream / Type: Moisturiser / Subcategory: Tan / Suitable for: Face / UV Protection Factor: SPF 15 / What it does: Moisturizes, Tans, „
Before this product, I had never tried or even tested any of Boots' own brand 'Time Delay' products. I always thought that their own branded products are never as good as some of the more popular or high end brands that I tend to use. I simply bought this because I had a £5 voucher for Time Delay products, and as this was only £5.99 and I didn't have any gradual tan moisturiser for my face at the time, I thought I would buy it, so got a 50ml bottle for only 99p.
The bottle comes in a cream shiny box and has gold writing on it, adding to the colours you would think of when reading the words 'gradual tan'. It is a Sunshine gradual tan SPF 15 daily facial moisturiser and states on the bottle that it is 'a light, yet luxurious cream proven to firm, smooth and nourish your skin while gradually building a light natuaral looking tan all year round.'
This is not recommended when sunbathing however, and a higher SPF product should always be used to product your face when in the sun.
For best results it states you should use daily as your normal face moisturiser, so no other moisturiser is needed and if used everyday it will gradually create a natural looking light tan. I sometimes forget to apply this everyday and I must add that I can still notice a nice light tan, so it is very good if your are specifically wanting a moisturiser that does this, just as I was.
You should apply this in light circular motions to already cleansed skin and avoid any contact with clothes until the lotion is fully absorbed. In my experience, this absorbs very quickly and therefore you should always wash your hands after applying incase it stains your hands slightly and makes them look unnatural. It does state on the bottle to wash your hands after each use too.
This moisturiser, unlike others, allows me to apply my make-up quite quickly after applying, because it absorbs and dries very quickly. This is good if you normally don't have time to wait for a moisturiser to dry on a morning and sometimes avoid applying it because of this.
I do sometimes apply this on a morning and also at night before I go to bed. The next day I notice my skin looks slightly more tanned than it would after applying it just once, which is perfect for me for a night out, as I don't like to apply fake tan to my face, but as I apply it to my body for a night out I often had to apply it to my face otherwise I would be two different colours!
Therefore, this moisturiser could replace your excisting facial fake tan if you use one, so long as you remember to apply it everyday. Also facial self-tans can be expensive!
Another bonus to this product is the smell, even if you open the bottle and smell it without applying it to your face, you can smell a chocolate-like smell, which I personally love.
I give this facial moisturiser 5 stars because I cannot fault the product at all. It isn't too thick and creamy nor is it too runny, it is just right, and leaves my skin feeling very soft and slightly tanned.
I also like how it leaves my hands smelling a bit chocolatey too after applying, even after I have washed my hands. As the bottle is transparent, I can see how much I have left and when I have used it all I will definitely go out and buy another, even at the full price, as I think it is well worth the money and lasts quite some time.
If you like to use a facial moisturiser which also adds a light tan to your face, then I highly recommend you try this. As Boots often give out those £5 vouchers, you can get this for a bargain 99p!
Boots seem to have really upped the quality of their own brands recently, selling some great products in both their No. 7 and Time Delay ranges.
Where do I buy this and how much?
Well since it is Boots own brand , Boots is the location. The price of this product is normally £5.99 but Boots regularly give you £5 vouchers to spend on Boots products so this is available for £0.99.
I bought it with a voucher paying £0.99 and for the price think that it is a great product. That said I am not sure I would pay £6 for it. For this price you get 50 ml which is perfect to take away on holiday.
The product comes in a clear tube with gold writing on so it looks really nice and tasteful. It is a compact tube with a flip lid which stays on really well so it is not likely to explode all over your bag. The packaging is recylcable too which is good. Just pop it into your "plastic bottle" recycling bin.
What is the product?
It is a daily moisturisor which contains SPF 15 (to stop the sun from making you all wrinkly and old looking!!!). It is meant to nourish your skin and keep it looking younger. It also contains a very light fake tan component to give you a healthy glow.
After cleansing and toning rub onto your skin in circular motions. I find that you only need a little bit of the product to cover your face and neck. Because this has fake tan colouring in it you need to rub it in really well and make sure that you don't miss bits as the colour can appear patchy if you do it wrong. Also remember to wash your hands afterwards to avoid the tell tale sign of orange hands!!!
This product is a nice consistency which is easy to rub in - which makes it good value, It is not too runny or too thick.
None that is noticable - there is certainly not the horrible fake tan scent that you often get with this type of product.
Does the fake tan colour work?
It is a nice colour which is subtle if you rub it in well. BUT and this is a big but it can appear yellow if you put on too much - also if you don't rub it on evenly then there are white patches. on the plus side you can rub it off a bit, but you will be left with patchy skin for a couple of days.
Does it make me less wrinkly?
Again hard to say-, I think that it makes my skin feel very nice and smooth -and I know that the SPF is protecting my skin somewhat from the sun.
For 99p I would definately recommend the product - don't pay £5.99 there are plenty of similar products out there that can be less patchy.
That said a good product which was definately a bargain.
Sometimes when there are in store promotions this facial gradual tan product can be picked up for as little as 99p with a money saving voucher.
The general shelf price is £5.99 and whilst the Time Delay range is a mid budget range, I do feel that this item at full price offers only average value for money as its only a 50ml tube. However at 99p a tube its a bargain buy price wise.
Its not kept with the suntan or fake tan items, but is found on the Time Delay shelves in the skin care section, so you may need to search it out
If I am honest I am not really a fan of this type of product as I do think that similar effects can be had with a good foundation and some bronzing powder. Which you can then wash off and re apply as and when you want it. With gradual tan products once its there its much harder to remove.
I have only used this a handful of times and it would not be my first product of choice, but can and does give your skin a bit of a glow with just a few applications.
I also found that I got better results from the Olay gradual tan facial skin care product thats on the market, which is a bit more to buy, but gives a more natural and pleasing result.
Boots Time Delay Gradual Sunshine Tan SPF 15 Facial Moisturiser......
I go through beauty product like there is no tomorrow and I seem to do a lot of my purchasing in Boots so when they do the money off coupons I tend to get a fair few but always make sure I use them up. Also because I work for the NHS I get a discount card entitling me to 10% off any purchase and this, if used right, can really make a difference.
This gradual tanner from the time delay range usually costs around £6.50p which sounds like a good price but considering it is only a small tube at 50ml I think slightly overpriced for what it is. Anyway I didn't pay that amount as I used my 10% discount card giving me 65p off and then I had a coupon from the till receipt at Boots giving me £5 off! This worked out to me paying under 50p for this tube of cream which I find very good value! Also because it was over £5 originally I was lucky enough to get another coupon which I quickly did the same purchase with and continued getting the coupons and stocking up on 50p bottles of cream.
Any way the cream itself....The packaging looks the part and there is a cardboard box which is gold in colour housing the tube of cream. This gives all the relative information such as what ingredients are used, how the product is best applied and so on. The inner tube again has a gold theme colouring which does make it look like a classy product and works well. The tube is a clear plastic meaning you are able to see the cream held within which is handy as you can then be aware when you are coming to the end of it. The lid is a gold flip lid which allows for a good bit of the cream to be dispensed at the required time. Plus the fact that is stands on the lid means that all the cream drains down and thus none is wasted.
The cream for me had so many plus points that I couldn't believe I could get it so cheap. I really needed just a bog standard day moisturiser when purchasing this for the first time but when seeing that this has an SPF of 15 in to protect my face I thought it sounded great and along with this it was going to give my face a healthy glow!
It says on the back of the tube "A light, yet luxurious cream proven to firm, smooth and nourish your skin whilst gradually building a light natural looking tan all year round". It states that for best result the cream should be used daily and this is exactly what I did applying a little in the morning to my clean face and it did glide on smoothly and luxuriously. The cream has a nice light aroma to it which smells nothing like a fake tan but just very fresh, clean and very appealing. The cream is of a nice consistency as it is not too stodgy and not overly thin too. It is easily absorbed by my skin and leaves it feeling refreshed and nourished. As a plain moisturiser I really can't fault it as it has everything you could ask for.
However I feel that as a gradual tanner it is pretty poor. I have used several tubes now and never felt that it gave any sort of colouring to my face. This may be because I am used to a better gradual tanner in St Tropez everyday but personally I think there just really wasn't enough of the tanning aspect part of the cream to make any sort of difference.
Although I really can't see it is as being a gradual tan moisturiser I do although think it is a good daily moisturiser. It was purchased dirt cheap and is of a good quality. It smells, looks and feels good and leaves my skin in a good condition. I think a four out of five star rating and a RECOMENDATION is in order for this product.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Having already tried a facial gradual self tanning product recently I was about to give it up as a bad job until I saw that Boots had their own offering on sale. I love Time Delay products as a rule (exclusive to Boots) so I really thought I had to try this out before giving up on the concept of having a glowing skin tone!
Light bronze box and on the front of it I'm told it is Boots Time Delay 'Skin Treatments' Sunshine Gradual Tan SPF 15 Daily Facial Moisturiser 'Gradually Builds A Light Natural Looking Tan'. Other information on the box includes ingredients being listed and contact details for Boots being given, I'm told a bit about the product and how to use it, along with warnings being given and size being stated (50ml). The tube is clear plastic and slim with a flip opening to the bottom of it and once again on the front of that I'm told what it is and who it is by and again on the back I'm told a bit about the product and directions for use are given etc. Nice simple looking packaging and with this product I like being able to see through the tube to see who much I have used etc and when it needs replacing (if I want to of course!).
A Bit About The Product....
A light yet luxurious cream to proven to firm, smooth and nourish your skin while gradually building a light natural looking tan all year round.
Contains an optimised blend of self-tanning ingredients to build a natural looking tan whilst SPF15 provides protections against the visible signs of aging.
Directions For Use....
For best results, use daily as your normal face moisturiser to gradually create a natural looking light tan. Apply in light circular motions to perfectly cleansed skin, avoiding the eyebrows and hairline.
Me Using It....
I am really rather impressed with this product! Not only is the white, silky soft cream thin enough to absorb quickly in a none greasy way it actually does instantly add a little shimmer to the face in a none cheap or oily way. It dries to the touch almost immediately but from within my skin is beautifully hydrated leaving my skin supple and fresh feeling and the smell it gives off of fruit oils is natural and rather yummy thought that smell does vanish after a couple of hours of wear.
I can't feel it on the skin and once dry you can of course use make up, go out into the elements wearing it etc and it doesn't interfere with your life at all, it just gently and deep down moisturises your skin.
The results with this are slow and steady. I'm incredibly pale skinned and I found it took 3-4 days for my skin to start getting a glowing but light tan. It seemed to want to moisturise my skin well and get it ready for the tan before deciding to take. It gives a subtle and natural look when you do get the colour and then of course it's up to you whether to keep moisturising with it every day and therefore adding more colour as you go or you can stop and add more when it starts to fade or even use it every other day. Personally I been using it every other day so I don't go a funny shade of orange though to be fair I don't think I would with this as it is a mild formulation but as I have said I'm really, really naturally pale so I don't want to over do it.
It doesn't smear off when cleansing and toning though of course you lose a little colour but that is from the whole face so it's not a patchy loss at least and it doesn't cake up on the skin looking thick and manky either. You can remove it if you were to really deep down cleanse your face and all round this is just a very nice gradual face tanner that really does moisturise your skin wonderfully. I've had no adverse skin effects with this at all and recommend it for the girls and ladies out there that would like a bit of colour but want quality and no startling and/or scary results. It takes time and your always in control and cos you need so little of this it really does work out economical too!
Only available in Boots priced at £5.82 but do look out for offers on this range which the store tends to have rather often!
