Advantages: extra moisture for the dealicate skin around the eyes, not too expensive, vitamins contained
Disadvantages: shimmers, doesn't really do much, feels a bit heavy on the skin
Today I am writing a review about the Vitamin E SPF14 eye cream by Boots.
Shopper's appeal
I bought this eye cream at Boots a while ago because I hadn't had any eye cream at all for quite a while. Over here in germany the "in" products at drug stores are a bit different and the trend of using eye cream has not really arrived here yet. But when I was in London and was browsing through Boots, I wanted to try out an eye cream again and chose this one because I quite like their Vitamin E line.
Since it wasn't too expensive either, I didn't have to think about buying it for too long and just did it!
The tube
The eye cream comes in a pearl-coloured, long tube. On the top you can see the Boots logo und below that the product name is given. The cream is described as "light and easy absorbed daily moisturisation with antioxidant protection". It is suitable for all skin types.
On the back of the tube further information is given. The cream is supposed to have a "light, non-greasy formulation that helps reduce appearance of fine lines, puffiness & dark circles within 4 weeks". You are supposed to dot it around your eyes and then gently blend it with your fingertips in upward strokes.
The ingredients are listed as well. The tube contains 15ml.
My experiences
Now I think eye cream is one of those products that is nice to have, but you don't really need it. However, I was of course eager to do my skin good and was excited to try it out.
The cream is easy to get out of the tub and it's also easy to spread on your skin. You should gently rub it into the skin around your eyes, but bey careful to not get any into your eyes!
The smell is just your regular cream scent, nothing outstanding.
The cream is quickly absorbed by the skin but you do notice that you're wearing something different than your usual face lotion. What really bothered me was that they cream was somewhat shimmer-y, like some special lotions are. The packaging didn't say anything about a sparkling effect and that annoyed me a bit.
The sensitive skin around the eyes was moisturised well but I couldn't really make out an effect on wrinkles. But it didn't do any harm either.
Applying makeup over it was okay, but I did need some powder to cover up the shimmering.
The tube will last you quite a while, but then you only need a tiny amount of it anyway.
I had no allergic reactions or other problems. If you have allergies or very sensitive skin, check the ingredients before buying the product.
The ingredients
Aqua, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, Butyrospermum parkii butter, Titanium dioxide, Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, Glyceryl stearate, Octocrylene, Cetyl alcohol, PEG-100 stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polyacrylamide, Cyclohexasiloxane, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl acetate, C18-36 acid glycol ester, Triticum vulgare germ oil, C13-14 isoparaffin, Methylparaben, Acrylates/vinyl isodecanoate crosspolymer, Laureth-7, Ethylparaben, Sodium polyacrylate, Potassium sorbate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Manganese dioxide
The price
This cream is available at Boots for £2.54. You can buy it in store or order it on their website.
Conclusion
This cream is alright, but you really don't need it. I also was annoyed by the shimmering that was not stated on the tube. It will do you no harm, but you won't really benefit from it either I think. I'm not going to buy it again.
Summary: A product I wouldn't buy again.
