I was searching for a fake tan that would be suitable for both my face and body and after hearing a very positive review for this one on youtube I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately it didn't work for me.
Clarins is a reputable high end brand which specialises in both skincare and make-up. Clarins is available in all the department stores, in some Boots stores and also online.
* this delicious self tanner smells like cocoa and has a tinted caramel colour for easy application.
* your skin will look and smell beautiful in an instant with no help from the sun.
* enriched with aloe Vera, the creamy texture glides on to your skin to drape it in softness and a natural looking golden glow that will develop in just a few hours.
* cocoa butter helps prevent premature skin ageing and leaves skin with a natural radiance and an amazing tan.
First things first you MUST exfoliate your skin before applying self-tan so I did that before I started.
Initially during application I really liked the product, the smell is far from delicious but compared to most fake tan isn't bad. The texture is that of a gel and it really did glide onto the skin. The caramel colour made it easy to see the product which is very helpful when applying self-tan.
I applied the product before I went to bed to allow it to develop overnight. After about 10 minutes my face felt warm and irritated, I don't suffer with any allergies and have never had a problem with any product in the past. I looked in the mirror and could see my skin was red in places. I guess I should of rinsed it off but it wasn't unbearable so I left it and after awhile it did settle. In the review I'd heard of this product the reviewer said she applies this product in the morning before her make-up and it worked perfectly. I don't know how she managed this because the product literally never dries! Eventually I went to bed and let's just say the pillows were not pretty in the morning but that's to be expected with fake tan.
After removing the product the results were pretty good, the colour was even and golden brown, not bright orange but a noticeable difference. I hate when you apply these ''natural" looking tans that don't show at all. I was pleased with the colour but sadly by the end of the day several large blemishes had arrived. My skin is oily but the tan claimed to be suitable for all skin types but it obviously wasn't suitable for mine. This put me off therefore I didn't use it again.
HOW TO APPLY:
Apply evenly over face and body. Avoid the eyebrows and hairline. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
The product comes in a large brown pot with white writing. The lid is a screw top and there's a foil seal underneath.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
The tub is available in one size, 100ml which retails at £22.00. I cannot say it was good value for money because I didn't use it all and sadly had to throw it away.
