I use this medicated Cuticura talcum powder mainly on my feet as I find it is good for excessive perspiration and minor skin irritations. As I don't wear socks or pop socks with my shoes for work my feet do get hot and I tend to get tiny cracks on the underneath of my toes which are very sore. I have tried foot sprays which are very nice and cooling when I first use them but they very soon wear off and they don't give me any relief for the cracks. I find if I sprinkle some talc on my feet and also in my shoes this gives a far more long lasting effect and my feet stay much cooler and don't sweat half as much. However my toes do still crack sometimes and really itch, but the feeling of this talc does cool them and helps to stop the intense itching. This Cuticura talc is mildly medicated and is recommended for the whole family to use. It contains Allantoin which helps to sooth minor skin irritation and claims to absorb excessive perspiration and also to help to soothe heat rash and sunburn. I do occasionally get heat rash although not as excessive as I used to when I was younger, but I still get it enough to make me itch especially on my legs and by using this talc it does really help to cool my skin down and stop me scratching. It is also recommended to use for babies after bathing and nappy changes. I actually did used to use it for this purpose when my children were babies as I know my mom did for me, so it really is a very old and trusted brand. It comes in a 250g size which costs £4.20 at Boots and £4 at Tesco so it isn't the cheapest talc available but it has the advantage of being medicated which most others don't have and it is quite a large tub which will last for ages. The tub is navy blue with white writing and the top is the usual twist top with small holes in where the talc comes out. Although the talc is medicated it actually has a clean subtle fresh smell which is light and pleasant but not too feminine as my husband also uses this occasionally as he suffers with mild athletes foot. I will occasionally use this talc as an over my body talc to help to keep me feeling fresh by rubbing a small amount in my hands after showering and then rubbing it over my body but this is only when I have ran out of my usual talc as this is more for irritations and skin problems rather than an everyday talc which you can buy a lot cheaper. It does make my skin feel smooth and soft though wherever and whenever I use it and I love the fact that it keeps my feet cooler throughout the day. I highly recommend this talc it if you have any mild skin irritations or for excessive perspiration areas.
I use talcum powder as an addition to using antiperspirant, especially on my feet and between my toes, where I suffer from a mild infections from time to time. I use medicated talcs and the one I use right now is the Cuticura one. This is only mildly medicated and therefore the smell isn't too strong, in fact it has a light floral fragrance, which is much nicer. I buy the smaller sized tin which has 75g of talc and I pay £1.75 but Cuticura also make this in the much larger tins which have about 250g. I use it most days but don't use a lot of it so it lasts ages. The talc itself is fine white powder and feels soft on my skin when I use it. It soaks up moisture but for me the main benefit is that it contains the active ingredient allantoin which helps if you are suffering from any minor irritations to the skin. Heat rash is helped by using this medicated powder too as I have used it for this myself and it soothes very quickly and makes the skin feel less irritated and inflamed. It blends in well into the skin and the only thing that annoys me about it is the white patches it leaves on darker tops or black socks, but as it's talc, this is unavoidable. The container sprinkles out of the small holes easily and doesn't scatter everywhere when I use the tin. It works well for me and my foot problem and mainly this is the reason why I use this powder because a foot spray on its own so far hasn't been effective enough for my feet. It lasts a long time and I'd recommend it as a useful aid for any minor skin problems and irritations.
I am not a talc fan. Occasionally I will get some but I always tend to get into a mess with the stuff and end up resembling a snowman and my clothes get hit with a white dusty residue that I simply hate! However from time to time I get itchy skin and when I spotted this in Boots I thought it was worth a go and so got me some lol. Now let me clarify before I continue I have no skin conditions that I am aware of, just generally and from time to time feel slightly itchy. Sure a good scratch puts it right but I wanted something to use after a bath or shower that would sooth and smooth me slightly and so this seemed a good idea to me at least! The Packaging: 75g white and navy coloured plastic cylinder tub and to the top of it, it has a salt and pepper style shaker which twists around to turn it on and off (so to speak). On the front of the tub I am told that it is Cuticura 'For healthy skin' Mildly Medicated Talcum Powder 'cools, sooths & comforts' and the size is stated. On the back of the tub other information listed includes being told bit about the product, ingredients are listed and contact details for Keyline Brands Limited (the manufacturer of the product) are listed. It's a nice enough informative tub which is functional rather than pretty. Using It: Well on the back of the tub we are told to dust it between toes and on feet after showering or bathing to help with excessive perspiration and that it contains allantoin which helps soothe minor skin irritations and discomfort caused by simple heat rash or sunburn and that its very good for babies after bathing and every nappy change. In short this is great for family use and is ideal for every day use and all over the body. The talcum powder itself is very fine and pure white in colour. It is mildly fragrant and I was expecting a medicated smell but didn't get one. To me it smells lightly floral but really not one bit heavy or anything but simply subtle, fresh and clean smelling really. It sprinkles out of the tub with ease but finely and not one bit dusty but a bit dense and it smooths into the skin with incredible ease and no fuss at all. Skin feels really soft when this has been applied and providing your not heavy handed with it, it blends easily and as I only use a little during applying it I find I can dress immediately after using this with no residue hitting anything at all that it shouldn't. The positive aspect to this is not only does it give soft and smooth skin and a delicate fragrance for a good couple of hours but also that I can't feel it clogging up my pores and it really does soothe skin problems with ease. I have used this after sunbathing (I live by the sea) and I have used this at night on my agitated itchy skin and hot and tired feet and it does seem to cool skin without making it feel cold or weird and I have to say on my itchies it works brilliant so no more scratching for me! All in all I think this is a great talcum powder and believe me, usually I'm not one bit of a fan like I pointed out earlier in this review but this is more of a skin treatment and now lives in my bathroom cabinet for emergencies as its so versatile! Expect to pay about £1.50 for my size tub in places like Boots though I have seen this product in a 250g sized tin as well and it is on Amazon for £4.09!
