      Sun worshipers wold love this

I am sorry to say that I do use a lot of beauty products and love to try new ones all the time whenever they come out, this does not do my bank balance any good but is almost a hobby of mine. When this was first aired on QVC it was being sold as a part of a kit and I was keen to try it but missed out because I forgot to order to it and went out. When I got home, it has sold out. The next time it was on air I grabbed it, I wasn't missing out this time! I wasn't expecting it to change my life but I was hoping it my stop me from burning all the time in the summer, even though I use sun cream. I have very fair skin and flecks of red in my hair, plus freckles. As you would imagine I burn just looking at the sun and have even burnt in the car and under a parasol. I use a very strong sunscreen but still sometimes burn and never, ever tan. When I got this home I started to apply it morning and night after showering in the build up to the hotter weather. At this time I worked in a nursery and would spend a lot of time outside. I was hoping that this would help me to perhaps get a slight tan and not just go red or stay completely white. I applied it my face, neck and body and even my feet and hands. It was pleasant to use and had a soft aroma, that wasn't too overpowering. After using it for about 2 weeks, the weather started to get hot and I started to wear vest tops to work. I continued to use my sunscreen. After a week, I hadn't burnt at all and had a slight colour to my face. I was pleased with this and continued to use it all the time. By the end of the summer I had not burnt at all and had developed a very good colour for me, not brown an golden, just a hint of colour making me look more healthy. The colour was even and lasted, fading much slower than my friends' tans. I have continued to use tan accelerators since then and mainly use this one when it's in stock. I feel they help my skin and stop it from burning. I would reccommend this to anyone looking for a tan whether you want to be the colour of des o'connor, or just look a bit healthier.

Look for a cheaper alternative containing the key ingredient

Most of my body tans pretty well, except for my legs. Although they do change colour, they do not go the deep brown colour that the rest of my body does. I was browsing a holiday forum, when I saw the Elemis Tan Accelerator mentioned. The users were absolutely raving about it, with many of them saying after using it they had the deepest, longest lasting tan ever. I paid £17.50 for the accelerator from SalonSkinCare, and it was on 2-for-1 so a pretty good deal as it does usually retail around £18 per tube. Packaging Elemis Tan Accelerator is packaged in a gold coloured tube, with a silver lid, complete with white writing. It does look expensive, but then again, so it should for the price they charge. The size of the tube was 125ml. Elemis claim that by using this product your skin will be in optimum condition to promote a rich and golden suntan. I did a little research before buying, and apparently the key ingredient when looking for a decent tan accelerator is an amino acid called Tyrosine, which is contained in this product. Elemis do actually explain on the packaging that this is naturally present in the body, used by skin cells to form melanin. Application Elemis say to use the product as a body lotion daily for 1-2 weeks before sun exposure to enhance the tanning process. On unscrewing the lid, you are met with a brown coloured, running liquid. The smell is quite sweet, but personally I loved it. It's a real holiday smell, in fact, I had just smelt it again to write this review and the smell made me go all tingly at the thought of summer holidays spent lazing in the sun... sigh! The cream is easy to apply, and soaks in fast. With it been such a thin liquid, only a little is required which means the tube does last a while. One tube lasted me the two before I went on holiday. Further to the application instructions, I decided to also use the product whilst on my two week holiday. I applied the cream to my body first thing in the morning, allowing it to dry before applying a sun cream over it. The tan accelerator does contain a SPF 4 but this is not really practical anywhere in the world. Results Having used the product for four weeks in total (two weeks pre-holiday and two weeks whilst on holiday along with sun cream) I found the results quite disappointing. I tanned, yes, but I would not say my tan was deeper than usual, or lasted any longer. Maybe I was expecting too much, and maybe this product is more effective on those with fairer skin than myself, but for £17.50, I can think of better things to do with my money and won't be buying the product again. I have been more impressed with an Avon product costing much, much less. The one positive thing after using the cream was that I did not burn at all. However, whether this was because I used the Elemis Tan Accelerator, or whether I was lucky, or more careful with applying sun cream than usual, who knows. I have asked my fair-skinned boyfriend to trial the product on our next holiday, but he won't! Men eh!

I am so pale and pastey it is unbelieveable! So, as you can imagine, at the first sign of sunshine I just start to burn... forget the nice tan afterwards too, I usually just go white again! And then I tried the Elemis Tan Accelerator... At first I was very sceptical about tan accelerators, I just didn't believe they could work... I've tried so many different sun products in the past I couldn't really understand how a tan accelerator could work for me. I first heard about the product on QVC - they were raving about it and at first I just thought "selling tactic", but they also had several people ringing in to the studio and I started to think more about it... then my shopaholic urges kicked in anyway and I bought a duo pack for £22 + P&P (2 x 125ml tubes). When it arrived I was not at all sure! It's a funny brown colour and I wasn't too convinced about the smell either! But I started using it... it was in the middle of summer and I had been hiding from the sun for days to avoid burning... I used it everyday for a 2 weeks before I dared to show myself to the sun... I was amazed - even with my usual SPF20 sun lotion (which keeps me white) I started to tan... I had strap marks!! And no burning at all. I now use this product in the lead-up to and throughout the summer and always before going on holiday. I used this last September before going to Vegas (30 degrees +) and I didn't burn at all. And as fair-skinned as I am I can now get away with SPF12 instead of the usual SPFblanket. Now I'm not an expert, but my understanding of this product is that it eliminates those first 4-5 days of the skin adjusting to the sun. It prepares the skin by encouraging the melatonin to get into gear to naturally protect the skin. Do give this a try... yes it's a funny colour and the smell is odd, but that all goes out the window when you see the results. Find it at: elemis. com (£16.50) qvcuk.com (£22 for 2) ebay Forgot to mention - this is very easy to apply, just as you would any other body lotion. It absorbs easily and leaves skin soft and healthy-looking. The smell and odd colour disappears once it is applied.

I used to approach the holiday season full of trepidation, I love going abroad on holiday in the knowledge that the sun is going to shine and it is going to be really hot, but I always knew I would come home looking like a lobster. I have red hair and very fair skin and as soon as I hit the sun, yes you’ve guessed it, I go bright red and peel. Well about three year ago I was told about tan accelerators and I thought I’ve got nothing to loss so I gave it ago. Apparently it’s the melanin in your skin, which protects you from burning and helps your skin to turn brown when you are in the sun, but the melanin is about five layers under the surface skin. When you are out in the sun the melanin starts to rise to the surface and this takes about three days, in the mean time your skin goes red and you burn. I always used a high protection sun factor but I still used to go red and burn in the first few days and arrive home red and peeling. Tan accelerators have an ingredient in them, which tricks your skin into thinking you are in the sun, and the melanin starts to rise to the surface. I bought an Elemis tan accelerator for £16 for a 125ml tube from the Elemis salon near my home and used it every day for a week before I went on holiday. I applied it as a body lotion, paying particular attention to drier areas such as my elbows, knees and ankles and also put it on my face under my day cream. It went on really smoothly and I was surprised at how little I needed, it really spread a long way. My skin felt softer and had a dewy look to it but I was able to get dressed straight away, it was not at all sticky. Tan accelerators are not self-tanning lotions and they do not change the colour of your skin at all. When I arrived on holiday I applied my usual high protection sun lotion and hoped for the best. At the end of my first day I basically looked no different, I had not gone red at all but did not look tanned either. After the second da y I was starting to go slightly brown, according to my husband I had a healthy sunkissed glow, I was really pleased because normally I would be bright red by now. As the week went on I started to slowly turn brown. I continued to use the Elemis tan accelerator as a body lotion whilst on holiday. I applied it early evening after my shower before going out, elemis tan accelerator includes a factor 4 sun filter so I thought that would be ideal protection for the evening sun. I arrived home that year with my first ever suntan, I did not go a really deep brown but I did have a nice even tan. My husband who never has trouble getting a good tan also used my elemis tan accelerator and he looked as if he had been in the sun for about a month. I continued to use my Elemis tan accelerator after I returned home and this prolonged my tan and kept it looking fresh. Now three years on I would not be without a tan accelerator, I have tried different brands and they all seem to do the job, but I always go back to the Elemis tan accelerator; it is not over scented, acts as an after sun lotion, has a sun filter included, it absorbs into the skin quickly, goes a long way and I believe it is great value for money, one 125ml tube lasted me three weeks. I have since recommended Elemis tan accelerator to all of my family and friends. However I also tell them they must always remember to use an adequate sun protection lotion when out in the sun there is not a high enough sun filter in a tan accelerator to give you adequate protection in high temperatures.

Elemis Tan Accelerator, is super as a body lotion! Blends into the skin very quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue. Tan accelorator's are supposed to be a Salon secret, but why the industry isn't really marketing these, is beyond me. I did tan quite quickly, in the little bit of sun we had a while ago, but, I wouldn't like to say for sure if it was down to this lotion, or just nature. A plus point of these are they are safe for use with sunbeds, and can cut down your sessions which has got to be better for us! It does spread easily, and if only doing your face and arms it would last a while, but when you are using it everywhere, and daily as recommended, you would find it hard to make it last more than 2 weeks, so for a holiday, it is ok, but for use at home, could work out very expensive. Don't use it as protection, as only a SPF 4 so not practical. Let's hope one of the high street chemist's bring out their own, as again, with Elemis, quite pricey. If you really don't tan, I would try this, but if you tan well naturally, I wouldn't bother, although it is supposed to make your tan deeper, and last for longer.
