      Garnier Aftersun melon sorbet

I had read a few reviews of this product and thought it sounded like something I would really love so I decided to try it. I am a sucker for anything fruity and to do with the sun and as I have had a few foreign holidays this summer i knew it would be perfect for me. I have fair skin and blond hair so can't spend too long in the sun otherwise I burn. I do wear suntan lotion whenever I go out in the sun but I usually always get a little bit red because of my skin tone so I always like to apply some aftersun, no matter how careful I've been.

Garnier say that this aftersun refreshing sorbet will, "Hydrate your skin for up to 24 hours with the refreshing sorbet texture. It's dermatologically tested and soothes the skin and has a delicious summer scent." I do find that my skin definitely does dry out in the sun and just in the hot weather in general so I liked the sound of 24 hour hydration.

Upon smelling the sorbet I was instantly hooked. It does have a very gorgeous summer scent that I find stays on my skin for a long time after I have applied it which is nice. The scent is described as melon and it definitely does smell like melon to me. It's got that lovely watery fresh scent to it and is very fruity. I also think it smells a bit like cucumber when you get that lovely cucumber in beauty products so if you are a fan of that scent as I am, then you will definitely love this melon smell. It's also a very fresh, clean relaxing scent and recently I used this after I spent some time at the beach and it was really a nice treat. I always feel really sticky and dirty after I have been to the beach so to be able to apply this lovely cooling fresh lotion was really nice.

I have to admit though, I was a bit disappointed by the consistency of the lotion/sorbet. When I initially read about it I expected it to have more of a whipped cream like consistency to it but it was actually a bit thin although if I think about it, that's what a sorbet consistency is like so maybe they have got it right, I was just expecting a thicker cream. That being said though the cream is not greasy or sticky in any way and actually soaks into my skin really nicely making it feel quite soft and smooth. I do think it provides nice moisture although I'm not sure about 24 hours as I definitely shower in between that time limit!

Garnier say that this product contains soothing aloe vera which is, "a desert plant capable of surviving months in extreme conditions, known for its soothing and protective properties." I love as this always makes my skin nice and soft, it really responds to it in a nice way.

At the moment you can purchase a 300ml pot for £4.99. This is actually on offer at Boots and I would say this is actually a fair price as I probably wouldn't pay the regular £9.99. I feel that there are cheaper, just as effective aftersun lotions on the market for less but I would still recommend for nice soft, beautiful smelling skin after the sun!

A cute and effective after-sun sorbet that works really well

I bought this as a bit of an impulse buy in Superdrug for £4.98 as I really liked the look of it. It can also be found in Boots for £4.99. It is a bit expensive for the amount you get, even if it is a good quality product so it might be worth waiting to see if it gets put on offer before you buy.

This dermatologically tested sun sorbet is a new after sun made by Ambre Solaire which is designed to be applied after exposure to the sun on a hot day to "soothe and hydrate the skin for up to 24 hours". The formula works due to the inclusion of ingredients such as aloe vera which is apparently a desert plant able to survive for months in extreme conditions and more importantly is well known for its soothing, protective properties and melon which also adds hydration to stop skin from drying out.

It comes in a cute, rounded 300ml plastic pot with an easy-to-open screw lid and comes in two varieties; pink pomegranate or green melon which can be seen in the image above and is the one I chose to get. The large side of the lid makes it easy to get the sorbet out and means you can get every last scrap out of the pot. The sorbet itself is a pleasant pale green colour with a lovely, summery melon scent. I don't always like the smell of melon but in this case Ambre Solaire have managed to create a surprisingly sweet fragrance that is really nice and lasts for a couple of hours on the skin.

The sorbet has quite a nice, thick and creamy texture but it also quite light and provides an instant cooling affect when it's put on the skin. The cooling affect feels amazing after a long day in hot weather. I sometimes just leave it on the skin for a few minutes before rubbing it in to cool down. Once the sorbet has been absorbed the skin feels really soft and fresh. I wouldn't say this feeling lasts 24 hours but it does last for the best part of the day and it can always be topped up. The sorbet isn't greasy or sticky at all and absorbs really quickly into the skin. Clothing can be put on straight away without any problems. My skin has been looking healthier and more shiny since using the sorbet and I've been really impressed with it. It is a high-quality product and I would definitely recommend.

Garnier Ambre Solaire After Sun Sorbet.

        The Product
        = = = = = = =
The product I am reviewing is by Garnier Ambre Solaire and is a new product to their sun-care range. This particular product is an After Sun product in the style of a refreshing sorbet. This product claims to soothe skin immediately after exposure to the sun. The sorbet helps to keep skin hydrated for up to 24hrs with help from the refreshing sorbet texture. The sorbet soothes the skin and has a delicious summer scent that will leave your skin smelling fresh and fruity. The formula is enriched with soothing Aloe Vera and hydrating Melon. Aloe Vera is a desert plant capable of surviving months in extreme conditions, known for its soothing and protective properties, while melon extract is appreciated for its moisturising qualities. Skin feels instantly soothed, softer and remains hydrated for up to 24hrs while you experience a fresh sensation thanks to the cooling sorbet texture. I decided to go for this product after reading a short review about the product in a Sunday magazine. I loved the sound of the sorbet and thought it would make a change from using normal after sun so the following week I went to my local Boots store to see if they had any in stock. The sorbet comes in a round tub made of plastic. The tub is a light green colour which I presume represents the melon extract in the sorbet. It states on the front that the product is new and it states that it soothes your skin immediately. On the tub you can read some information about the product and how it apparently works to help soothe and cool the skin. You can find a list of ingredients on the back as well as contact information for Garnier. The lid to the tub is also plastic and is white in colour; this unscrews easily to reveal the sorbet, which I actually smelt before purchasing it.

I purchased this from my local Boots store but you can also purchase it from Superdrug as well. The product comes in a round tube which holds 300ml of the sorbet. Although I chose the melon sorbet they also do a Pomegranate sorbet as well. Prices may very in different stores; how-ever they currently have this product on offer at £4.99. The full price of the product is £9.99 so it's worth getting from Boots to save £5.00

        Using the Product
        = = = = = = = = =
As it was the weekend and very warm & sunny me and my boyfriend decided to have a small barbeque. This meant that we would be out in the sun for a good few hours. I had applied sun-cream just before going out as I burn fairly easily and I didn't want to end up looking red and feeling sore. We weren't actually in the sun as much as we wanted because we found it a little too hot; how-ever a few hours later after I had a shower I did notice that I seemed to have caught the sun a little. I was mostly brown but there were a few red bits, and although I didn't feel sore I wanted to put some after sun on my skin to help cool and moisturise it after being in the sun. After having a shower I got ready to apply this product to my skin which had been exposed to the skin earlier on in the day. I unscrewed the lid to the tub and looked at the product to see what it was like. The sorbet filled most of the tub leaving about a 3cm gap from the top of the tub. The sorbet was a light green colour which pretty much matched the colour of the tub and it looked very glossy and smooth. I couldn't really tell how thick or thin the product was going to be until applying it to my skin. The one thing I noticed as soon as I opened the tub was the smell of the product which was absolutely gorgeous. The product smelt really refreshing and fruity and in fact it smelt so delicious that it made my mouth water a little.

I dipped my fingertips into the sorbet and got ready to apply it to my skin. I didn't want to take too much out of the tub as I wasn't really sure how much I would need. The sorbet felt cold against my fingers but was really smooth and silky. I rubbed a small amount onto my arm and shoulder and I found that a little of this goes a long way due to the silky, smooth texture of it. As soon as I rubbed this into my skin it instantly feels cool and refreshed. The sorbet took just a few minutes to soak in, leaving my skin feeling and looking moisturised. My arms didn't feel sticky or greasy and there was no residue on them either. The thing I really loved about the sorbet is that it left a gorgeous scent on my skin which made it feel and smell fresh. When I woke up the following morning although the gorgeous scent of the product had now gone my skin feel hydrated and moisturised. It also felt soft and smooth as well. Quite often after being in the sun my skin can feel tight and dehydrated, how-ever the sorbet really helped to moisturise my skin and keep it looking hydrated and smooth. I have used this sorbet a few times now, after exposure to the sun and I find that it really does help my skin to feel cool and leaves it feeling moisturised for a good 24hrs. Even if I haven't been sun-burnt or look as though I have been in the sun I still use it as the sun can still damage and dry out your skin even though it may not look like it.

        Overall Opinion
        = = = = = = = =
I love this after sun product from Garnier as it feels really refreshing and cool on my skin once it has been applied. The scent of the product is gorgeous and I love that it makes your skin smell gorgeous too. The scent of the product isn't too strong, but smells fresh and summery. You do have to be careful when applying the product as it can slip off your fingers if you are not careful due to the smooth, silky texture of the product. I find that a little of the product goes a long way so you don't need to apply a lot of it. The sorbet definitely lives up to its claims of helping to keep your skin hydrated and moisturised for 24hrs. My skin definitely felt and looked a lot more hydrated after I had applied the product. Another good thing about the product is that it doesn't leave your skin feeling sticky and it takes just a few minutes for the sorbet to soak into your skin, leaving that delicious scent on your skin. I'm not sure how good this product would be to prevent peeling as it doesn't say anywhere on the packaging that it prevents peeling, although I'm sure it would help due to giving your skin 24hrs moisture. This is my favourite after sun product I have tried and is one that I would definitely recommend to others. It not only works great but also smells divine.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A good after sun product which hydrates the skin leaving it soft and smooth

When I went on my most recent holiday, I wanted to make sure that I packed a good quality after sun product to soothe my skin and prolong my tan. My product of choice was the Garnier Ambre Solaire Relaxing Sorbet After sun.

          What does the product do?
The product promises to hydrate the skin for up to 24 hours using the inclusion of Pomegranate, which means your skin won't get dry and peel or age prematurely. It promises to sooth the skin using Aloe Vera which also helps to protect the skin. Your skin should feel instantly smoother and softer. It has a cooling sorbet texture to cool down the skin and it promises to leave you smelling delicious.

          Varieties
You can choose between Melon or Pomegranate scent. I chose the Melon one.

How do you use the product?
The product should be applied to clean skin after sun bathing. It should be applied generously to the skin and massaged in the skin gently until it has been fully absorbed.

          Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a plastic tub. It is pretty and green, and it has a picture of a chopped up melon on the front. There is some further information about the product given on the back of the tub. The tub is open mouthed and it has a screw top lid. It is easy to access the product and you can remove the exact amount of the cream that you want to use. The product will cost you around £4.99 for 300ml and it can be bought from stores such as Boots, Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.

          Application and Performance
The product is green tinged in colour so it's as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside. It has a fairly light and fluffy texture, although it is still a cream. It has quite a strong smell which is fruity and fresh, although not necessarily that of a melon. That said melon doesn't have a particularly strong aroma. The consistency is described as being non-sticky and non-greasy, and I have to say that both of these are true. The product is easy to scoop from the tub. The product glides across the skin easily without any pulling or dragging.

The product is quite cooling on the skin already, although I stored mine in the fridge to make it even cooler. It is refreshing on the skin and because the texture is light, the product is absorbed quite quickly by the skin. This is a good thing because you don't want to accessively rub sore skin that has been in the sun all day. It isn't greasy or sticky so you don't feel messy or unclean after use. It doesn't leave a residue on the skin other than a healthy sheen and you can dress shortly after application.

The product definitely soothes the skin my skin and left it feeling more comfortable. It hydrated the skin nicely and removed all feelings of tightness and dryness. It feels really soft to the touch and it looks in a better condition after use. A little of this goes quite a long way and the pot lasted the whole week, although I was the only one using it. The scent does linger on the skin for a long time after use which is a good thing if you like it!

          Conclusion
All in all, this is a good after sun product in that it relieves feelings of tightness and dryness, and hydrates the skin deeply. It leaves it feeling soft and looking in a better condition. It is cooling on the skin and both soothes and comforts my body after sun exposure. The aroma is strong and long lasting and it won't be to everyone's liking so you should sniff before you buy!
