Before we went on holiday a couple of weeks back, one shopping item which was a necessity for us was some high factor sun cream. We were visiting Marrakech and the weather promised to be hot, hot, hot. Although we both had a slight tan before leaving, I was concerned that with the hot sun beating down on us, our skin might frazzle within the first day and I therefore opted for a bottle of spf 30 for our first couple of days. Buying sun cream is always a bit of a chore in my opinion, however as I have had good experiences with Garnier Ambre in the past I opted for two bottles of cream one being this Garnier light and silky SPF30 lotion.
The packaging of this sun lotion is quite standard when compared to the other products in the Garnier range in my opinion in a 200ml white plastic bottle which stands upright with a flip top white lid. There is a touch of colour on the body of the lid which is a bright summery orange and the label of the sticker which features an orange strip which states that this is "High Protection SPF 30" together with a shiny blue label which states that this lotion is ultra light touch and protects against UVA and UVB rays. Although simple, I like the packaging of this cream as I find that it stands out against the other smellies in my suitcase plus the quality feel of the flip top lid means that it is quite securely fastened in between uses and I have no worries that I might arrive at my destination with a spill having ruined my clothes within.
Once opened, the cream is white in colour and has a slightly runny milk-like consistency. The cream has a really lovely smell and is one which I associate with holidays. Although difficult to describe, the sweet summery scent only enhances the smell of my perfume and gives an all over scent which is light and yet fresh at the same time and this smell lingers throughout the day as I top up my lotion. When applying this lotion I find that by squirting a dollop into my palm I can make it go quite a long way by dabbing it over my skin and then rubbing in. Being white the cream stands out against my skin and allows me to see which areas I have missed. Once applied I find that my skin looks slightly shiny and feels very nourished, which is a nice sensation when you know how hot the heat of the sun will be. This lotion sinks quickly into my skin and therefore within minutes I can put my clothes back on and not have that sticky sensation as I would with other creams. In addition, this lotion is water resistant and I was therefore not worried about wearing it in the pool, however Garnier do recommend that the lotion is re-applied after going in the water. As this lotion protects against both UVA and UVB light, I was not concerned when I had a lot of skin on show, however I did wear a hat throughout the hottest part of the day to prevent heat stroke.
A great feature of this product is the excellent bottle design, which in my opinion makes the product very easy to apply. The flip top lid allows you to open the bottle with little effort which is a massive bonus when you have wet or sandy hands and needs to open it quickly. The milky consistency of the lotion means that it runs easily out of the small hole at the top of the bottle and therefore you do not face the issue as you do with spray bottles of having a small amount of liquid left but an inability to get it out.
When I purchased my bottle of Garnier SPF30 I paid £6 for it and this was part of a two for £12 offer at my local Asda. A quick search online reveals that this lotion is available from a number of retailers and is currently stocked in Boots for £6.74. This is not a bad price to pay in my opinion and one which is certainly value for money when compared to other brands on the market and I feel this is why I return to this brand time after time because I feel it is good value for money.
Although later in the week on holiday I did return to my usual SPF 20 sun cream, this product was excellent at protecting my skin as it adjusted to the heat of the sun rays in Morocco and prevented my fair skin from burning. As a result of this , this cream comes highly recommended from me and scores an excellent five stars.
I hope this review has been of some help and thanks for reading! x
