The Hawaiian Tropic dark tanny oil I used was SPF 0. This means it did not protect me from the sun, however it did help me retreive and tan and moisturised my skin. The bottle was a 200ml bottle which cost me around £4.99.
It comes in a transparent bottle ( so you know when you are running low and need to buy more ) and a screw top lid. It smells absolutly gorgeous, mainly of coconuts and left a gorgeous sexy shimmer on my skin.
As this is not a sunscreen I would not recommed it be used by people with pale or sensitive skin as obviously sun rays are not great for you and you may burn. I would also say if you are in a very hot country not to use it for the same reason. Its great for stopping peeling, but does not prevent burning so you may want to alternate your usage between this and a product with a SPF.
I liked this product and it worked well for me, I did not peel as usual and the smell is great. The shine it gives you makes you look great in a bikini, but you will need to reapply after swimming as the shimmer goes away.
I LOVE this product as it smells absolutely divine with the scent of coconut and it just makes you think of balmy summer evenings somewhere hot and i find it really uplifting. I do think it's a little irresponsible that the company don't make it clear that it DOES NOT have a sun protection factor at all. I don't use this for a day laying by the pool as i'm quite fair and my skin would burn so throughout the day i use a factor 15 and once i have a base tan i go down to a factor 8 and then i use the tanning oil in the evening as an after sun and moisturiser. I think it definitely helps to prolong my tan along with regular exfoliation and when i'm not on holiday i use it in the UK to give a healthy glow to my skin. You don't need to use a lot of the product or you would feel very oily, so i just literally use enough to massage into my skin and give a healthy glow....be careful not to get the oil on any clothes though as it can stain.
Hawaiian Tropic Dark tanning oil
The product I am reviewing is the SPF0 and because I can't see the number on the picture this has to be empasised. This product contains no sunscreen and is SPF 0. Therefore, rather than this being a sun protection product it is in fact a moisturiser for in the sun.
*Formulated with exotic moisturising ingredients
*Contains natural skin conditioners
*Vitamins A, C, E
*Tan of the Island" coconut fragrance with mango, papaya and passion fruit.
* dermatologically tested
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING
The product comes in a dark brown bottle containing 200ml of the product. The oil can be clearly seen through the bottle so I am always aware of how much I have left and so there should be no frantic squeezing for the last bits.
I unscrew the lid and and hold the bottle upside down to get some of the oil out. The oil itself is clear with the distinct promised smell of Hawaiian tropic sun products- all floral and coconut. It definitely reminds me of holidays in the sun.
The oil itself is, as expected, an oil, and when I apply it to my skin, it leaves a definite layer of oil on my skin. It's not sticky when I feel it on my skin but for anyone venturing to the beach, the sand will stick to it, which for me is a very unpleasant experience. After the oil is applied, it does soak slightly into the skin, but until you go into the water, it will leave an oily sheen on you!
WHO IS IT FOR
Given that it contains no sunscreen, this is for people with a dark base tan. I tend to use it only when I am away for an extended period of time and then in conjunction with products containing sunscreen - this is more of an additional moisturiser to combat any peeling
HOW TO USE IT
As with all sun products, this should be applied evenly and reapplied after swimming and drying.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
I bought mine from my local bargain store for £2.49, so there are bargains to be had out there!

The website, hawaiiantropic.com has lots of information about the various products available, including sports, everyday and children protection. there is bound to be a product to suit
Because this does not contain sunscreen, it must not be used by anyone without a fairly dark base tan and should never be used on children. Having used it for a number of years, I would also suggest that it is not used on the face in case of burning. I find that when used in conjunction with sun creams containing factors, it is just like adding extra moisturiser to my skin, and in this way I can ensure that I don't burn and don't peel.
For anyone with dark skin who wants to moisturise a bit more, then I would recommend this. It smells great and actually makes it less likely that you will peel.
