The Hawaiian Tropic Spray Oil SPF 15 is available for GBP 12.60.
The spray is described as follows. "Hawaiian Tropic Spray Oil 15 has the unique fragrance of Hawaiian Tropical exotic flora , fruit and natural ingredients; mango, papaya and passion fruit. The formula of Hawaiian Tropic Spray Oil 15 is water resistant and helps protect the skin against sunburn. It moisturises the skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth."
The oil can be nicely spraying onto the skin and to my delight just super easy to incorporate and distribute, I am totally surprised, as I had expected, despite oil having a much thicker consistency in the skin. Also, I assumed that it is already take time until the oil is properly absorbed into the skin, but here I was again pleasantly surprised because the oil does not necessarily longer than any other sunscreen. The oil is indeed waterproof, but personally I spray myself after visiting the water but once again a, I feel so simply better protected. But what I find particularly beautiful on the oil is the splendor, my skin glistens in the sun literally and I find that very beautiful, because it just looks great. In addition, it smells pleasantly beautiful, somehow exotic - fruity fresh and beautiful after coconut. The scent is also something in the skin and does not evaporate again equal. Finally, I would like to say that the oil does not stick. It's just wonderful, you are a light oil film on the skin, but this is really minimal. From me this spray gets really like 5 star and I highly recommend it continue thus.
Since the exact product I wish to review isn't available on here, I chose this since it's the nearest thing to the Hawaiian tropic protective dry oil SPF15 spray which comes in a plastic bottle with a pump rather than in can form.
Although this product started off flawless, I began having issues with the application of the oil spray. The formula just seemed to harden so much that it wasn't sprayable, it just wouldn't come out of the bottle through the sprayer. After leaving the bottle in the sun for the day I later discovered that after being melted by the sun, the formula began to spray out again. Before I discovered this I had to remove the nozzle and apply it to my body manually which made for a much thicker and greasier application.
Since it is an oil based spray, it would be almost impossible for an company to stay true to the claim that the formula is 'non-greasy' and 'absorbant', after applying it to my body on the beach sand instantly became stuck all over, causing an uneven tan where the pathes of sand had been covering the skin!
Despite the complications surrounding sand and application, the low coverage SPF15 seemed to prevent burning while encouraging an even golden tan. The smell is to die for, a coconutty type fragrance that always recieves compliments. I do believe that this formula also moisturises the skin with its oils, making it soft to touch. A shower is certainly required after use!
Hawaiian Tropic Dark tanning oil
The product I am reviewing is the SPF0 rather than the one shown on the picture which is SPF 12. This product contains no sunscreen and is SPF 0. Therefore, rather than this being a sun protection product it is in fact a moisturiser for in the sun.
*Formulated with exotic moisturising ingredients
*Contains natural skin conditioners
*Vitamins A, C, E
*Tan of the Island" coconut fragrance with mango, papaya and passion fruit.
* dermatologically tested
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING
The product comes in a dark brown bottle containing 200ml of the product. The oil can be clearly seen through the bottle so I am always aware of how much I have left and so there should be no frantic squeezing for the last bits.
I unscrew the lid and and hold the bottle upside down to get some of the oil out. The oil itself is clear with the distinct promised smell of Hawaiian tropic sun products- all floral and coconut. It definitely reminds me of holidays in the sun.
The oil itself is, as expected, an oil, and when I apply it to my skin, it leaves a definite layer of oil on my skin. It's not sticky when I feel it on my skin but for anyone venturing to the beach, the sand will stick to it, which for me is a very unpleasant experience. After the oil is applied, it does soak slightly into the skin, but until you go into the water, it will leave an oily sheen on you!
WHO IS IT FOR
Given that it contains no sunscreen, this is for people with a dark base tan. I tend to use it only when I am away for an extended period of time and then in conjunction with products containing sunscreen - this is more of an additional moisturiser to combat any peeling
HOW TO USE IT
As with all sun products, this should be applied evenly and reapplied after swimming and drying.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
I bought mine from my local bargain store for £2.49, so there are bargains to be had out there!
Hawaiian tropic Inc
The website, hawaiiantropic.com has lots of information about the various products available, including sports, everyday and children protection. there is bound to be a product to suit
Because this does not contain sunscreen, it must not be used by anyone without a fairly dark base tan and should never be used on children. Having used it for a number of years, I would also suggest that it is not used on the face in case of burning. I find that when used in conjunction with sun creams containing factors, it is just like adding extra moisturiser to my skin, and in this way I can ensure that I don't burn and don't peel.
For anyone with dark skin who wants to moisturise a bit more, then I would recommend this. It smells great and actually makes it less likely that you will peel.
