Lets face it I'm a fake-tan queen. Ever since the raging hormones of adolesence kicked in and appearance became an issue, I have been a fan of the bronzed look. Even though the result was more orange than tan it was ALWAYS preferable to the cold porridge colour I turned in winter, so orange I remained. Until two years ago that is, when I switched from No.7 to Lancome for a treat! And boy was that good move! All my workmates were confused, as it was too even and realistic for a lotion but neither was my skin leathery like a regular sunbed user (they're way too scarey, I've heard the horror stories).I've been asked many a time whether I have hispanic blood in me (I don't, Irish is as exotic as I get!). I've now perfected the application technique too: ALWAYS exfoliate, but rather than paying a lot for a lotion, just pay 99p for an exfoliating sponge and use your normal shower wash (cheaper, less messy and more effective). Then apply moisturiser and or vaseline to your dryer areas (knees, ankles, elbows etc) otherwise they will absorb more of lotion and you'll end up looking like you've just played a game of football! Despite these measures if you do end up with streaks, toothpaste is a Godsend (particularly the whitening variety. Just leave it on for a few minutes and (gently) scrub off with an old toothbrush. Now that you've learnt my secrets...happy fake-tanning (with no nasty prospects of wrinkles or skin cancer)!

After trying various self tanning creams I had almost given up. I've experienced straky legs, patchy legs, orange face - you mention it I've experienced it!!..and usually just before a big night out!! A colleague reccommended Lancome to me so I decided to give it a go - I think I paid about £15.00, I can't be sure though. The cream is actually brown so you can see exactly where you're putting it. It goes on really easily - and most importantly it blends around your knees and ankles. It has an immediate bronzing effect with a nice shimmery effect, although I haven't risked venturing out straight sfter application in case I rub some off or something. The results are fantastic, a lovely golden broen effect,, just like you've been on holiday. The colour develops over an hour and then increases in depth, the final colour also depends on your original skin tone. I would definately reccommend this product - even to those of you who have vowed never to try self tanning creams again!! Ideal for first time users - go on give it a go!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

After trying a few fake-tans with varying degrees of success, I’ve finally found one that fulfills my criteria. At around £16, a realistic tan doesn’t come cheap but it is a lot safer and better fore your health than going on a sunbed. For a while, I’d almost resigned myself to the fact that I was going to be pasty white for the whole of the summer, though now, I can be a bronzed goddess with the best of them! The self-tan comes in an easy-to-use spray which is perfect for reaching those hard-to get-to areas. The spray also ensures that you do not use too much and have an excess of self-tan. On the box, the ‘blurb’ claims that you can dress 10 minutes after application, but in my opinion, it is best to wait about half an hour to ensure the product has totally dried. The tan then develops within an hour so it is perfect for those who want to have a tan for a big night out. The only problem with this product is that it leaves a not very seductive smell, but this can be overcome by applying a scented body lotion after the tan has developed.

Lancome's Flash Bronzer spray does just that, sprays bronze in a flash and brightens up your life! I was well impressed by the results on first use. My bod went from being pasty white, to deeply golden like a sun goddess. I must admitt I am a bit of a tanorexic, but I am also health concious, so it was very important for me to find a fake tan that looked real. The price has always put me off in the past, being a poor student £16 seemed a bit steep when you can buy a cheaper version for less than a quarter of that cost. But one day I decided to splash out, justifying my decision by looking at the orange streaks which were covering my legs. On this occasion I am afraid it is true what they say about "paying for quality." The spray is so light it soaks into your skin almost immeadiatley, so you're not sat there for ages rubbing it in evenly (however you are meant to do that!) You can also get dressed straight after application without fear of marks on your clothes. It really does develop within the hour too! The smell ain't too bad, in fact I quite like it now I've got used to it! But don't get too exicited like I did and expect the whole Lancome fake tan range to be equally as good, because unfortunatley I also had a bad experience with one of their products, the Flash Bronzer Milk. Unfortunately the spray only comes in one shade, which is dark enough, but being the tanorexic I am I decided I wanted a deeper tan. Why is it that we are never happy when we find something that works for us, we always want better? The Milk comes in a darker shade, so having ran out of my spray I decided to try it. I wish I hadn't! It went on almost as easily as the spray, and developed into a lovely colour, but didn't end there! Within a couple of hours I became patchy. The tan rubbed away from my arms and legs, and my clevage started collecting what looked like brown sludge! Definately not attractive, nor expected! In fac
t it was that bad that I had to stay in that night. But the story has a good ending. I took the Milk back to the shop I bought it from, and the lovely Lancome lady exchanged it for a brand new bottle of my much loved spray. And guess what? I once again look like a sun goddess!

DO U WANT TO BE BROWN, SEXY AND STYLISH? (NOT THAT U PROBABLY AREN'T ALREADY!!)...........THEN BUY THIS LITTLE LADIES LIFESAVER QUICKSMART! IN A WHITE AND ORANGE BOTTLE THAT LOOKS V COOL ON YOUR DRESSING TABLE, THIS EASY TO APPLY SPRAY DEVELOPS IN ABOUT AN HOUR AND HEY PRESTO!...TANNED AND SUPERMODEL LOOKING LEGS (WELL NEARLY) AND BOD. IT ALSO DOESNT WASH OFF, IT FADES GRADUALLY, SO MAKE SURE U APPLY IT PROPERLY OR U'LL B PATCHY 4 DAYS!!! IT CAN BE USED ALL OVER AND AS IT DEVELOPS SO QUICKLY IS HANDY FOR THOSE LITTLE EMERGENCIES, SUCH AS GOING OUT AT SHORT NOTICE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT AND ONLY A SHORT SKIRT TO WEAR! MOST SELF TANNING SPRAYS SMELL A TAD DODGY, BUT THIS IS THE BEST I'VE FOUND, IT STILL SMELLS A MIDGY BIT STRANGE BUT A SQUOOSH OF EAU DE SOMETHING WILL SOON COVER THAT! AT £16 ITS NOT THE CHEAPEST AROUND BUT AT LEAST U GET TO BECOME A BRONZED SEX GODDESS RATHER THAN AN ORANGEY MESS.....WHICH WOULD U RATHER BE?! FAILING THE ABOVE, JUMP ON A SUNBED, OKAY, OKAY I KNOW ITS NOT PC, BUT DO U WANT TO BE SEXY OR NOT?!!!
