      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A rich moisturising, cooling lotion that relaxes you after a day in the hot sun.

      I discovered this Lavera aftersun approx 3 years ago after trying some of their sun lotion that my sister had bought.
      As aftersun goes, this for me is head and shoulders above the rest, in fact I use it as a moisturiser all year round, I find it that nourishing for my skin.

      As I have already said in previous reviews, I have ME and so my skin really suffers, gets very dry and almost "tears" at times so its vital I keep it well moisturised.
      My immune system runs at a low ebb so I must use the most natural products I can, this usually means a hefty price tag... but, not with Lavera, their products are very reasonably priced.

      Lavera~
      ~~~~~
      Lavera means "The Truth", they are a German company and have been trading since 1987, all their products are Natural~
      No synthetic compounds.
      No petrochemicals.
      No GMO ingredients.
      No raw materials from dead animals(sounds horrible that!)
      Natural~ doesn't eliminate irritation or allergic reaction of the skin, but it does reduce the likelihood of occurrence.
      Using natural ingredients also helps the environment, because toxic chemicals for fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides are not used.
      At least 95% of the ingredients are certified Organic.
      At least 18 essential oils and vitamins are used to preserve each product and stop the growth of bacteria and so giving the products a shelf life of 2 to 3 years. You quite often find products with natural preservatives have a longer shelf life than their artifical "brothers"-theres a whole new arguement in itself.
      They are Paraben free and Gluten free.
      As a company they were the first to produce 100% mineral based suncreams and lotions.
      Now more than 250 products are available from~
      Suncreams/lotions, anti aging skincare, hair care, baby care.....
      Ingredients~
      ~~~~~~~~
      The list looks sooo long and you think hang on a minute this isn't normal for a Natural product, but, fear not my friends all Lavera products show the full "scientific" name of each ingredient, so it can be quite baffling to read through ie~
      Aloe Vera Extract~ Aloe Barbadensis Extract.
      Sunflower seed oil~Helianthus Annuus.
      Sweet Almond Oil~Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis.
      All the Fragrance listed are essential oils.

      The main ingredients are~
      Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil and Organic Aloe Vera Gel~ both cool, soothe and relax the skin after a hard day in the sun.

      Olive Oil, Organic Shea Butter and Organic Jojoba Oil~ all nourish the skin and help balance the skins moisture content so stopping it drying out and becoming like leather.

      Organic Rose, Lavender and Green Tea Essences cool the skin after exposure to the sun and also promote a relaxed feeling due to their scent.

      To go into the rest of the ingredients would mean I would not get any sleep tonight and you would be bored stiff and wouldn't read any more of my reviews, so I think that will suffice for now.

      Packaging~
      ~~~~~~~
      It comes in a pale blue box with a yellow sunflower on it. Lavera is written in silver along with NATURKOSMETIK.
      After Sun Lotion with Organic Jojoba and organic Shea Butter.
      For use after tanning- deeply moisturising and calming. this is all written in blue.
      Its Vegan and made in Germany.
      The 150ml (5.0 floz) tube is exactly the same as the box, with a white flip top lid.
      The After sun Lotion~
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Its pale yellow in colour and fairly thick for a lotion, infact I think its just right, it doesn't take much massaging for it to absorb into the skin and gives a lovely gleam , you can certainly see the difference when its on the skin.
      The smell in my opinion is lovely, its a heady mix of flower essences that really does relax you almost instantly.
      I can imagine some people not liking the smell, I feel it is a Love it or Hate it affair, no middle ground.
      The most amazing thing for me is it really does "cool" the skin, of all the products I have tried over the years, I have never known one with such a magical cooling system, for a real treat on a sweltering day, pop it in the fridge and feel your temperature drop(very good for Ladies of a certain age~ know what I mean Ladies?)

      Your skin feels soooo soft and the flowery scent lingers for an hour-ish (the smell transports me right back to my holidays, strange how smells have such a powerful effect)

      The tube lasts a good while, I took 2 tubes away last year for a 2 week holiday and brought nearly a full one back.

      As for prolonging your tan, I don't think anything really prolongs your tan, Ive always thought we are kidding ourselves a little there, a dose of UK rain and cold and we revert back to our " English Rose" complexions again.

      Lavera is available online from www.lavera.co.uk and other such websites, some even give you"points" that you can save up and use against future purchases.

      Holland and Barrett have started to stock the sun creams/lotions and After sun in their larger branches.

      Organic Supermarkets such as As Nature Intended also stock a wide range of Lavera products.

      Prices range from £5.82 to £6.75 which is very cheap for a Natural product believe me.

      Its also available in a "Silky Shimmer" version which is slightly more expensive( from approx £8.70) but gives us that extra sparkle that my other half just doesn't understand~ why we want to put sparkly, shimmery lotions on our skin, but if it makes us feel good whats the harm, I say? Theres much worse we could be up to Ha ha!

      So, if you fancy a cooling treat for your skin after a scorching day in the sun (don't forget your sun cream, don't want any frazzling of skin leading to the "Lobster red" Brits abroad look, not attractive on anyone), give this little old aftersun a whirl.

      Its got to be awarded 5 stars for being "cool".

      Thank you for reading my review.
