“ Brand: Lush / Powder / Type: Talcum Powder / Subcategory: Powder / What it does: Smoothes, „
I have not used a talc type powder in years until I was talked into trying out some of the dusting powders in Lush a few months back, I had been talking about how my skin often still has a residue after moisturising due to it being combination and the member of staff suggested I tried one of their dusting powders. I was expecting some nasty talc scented powder but was shocked by the delicious tasting products she showed me!
The Product ....
The product no longer comes in a container as above but now comes in a small clear plastic bottle with a black plastic flip cap lid. Normally we are used to talc having a lid with many small holes but this just has a single hole like a shampoo bottle.
The dusting powder is a very fine silky white powder that you can massage onto the skin to help absorb excess moisture or oils on the skin, in my case it soaks up the excess residue left after moisturising in some areas of my skin that are not as dry.
The talc is really soft and rubs onto the skin without leaving any visible residue, it does however leave a wonderful strong scent of vanilla that lasts for a good 2 hours on my skin.
With the bottle being see through I noticed after a little use that there was something inside my talc, I was shocked to find a full vanilla pod in there, so no wonder it smells so delicious.
The talc also contains Jasmine and Tonka Absolute, I can not really smell the Jasmine myself and I have no idea what Tonka Absolute smells like so I can not comment on this ingredient but together the talc is wonderfully scented.
The 50g bottle cost £4.95, it does not look a lot but to be honest I am on month 3 of using it now and still have a little left, I only use this about once a week maybe twice.
A wonderful scented talc, long lasting scent, soaks up oils and moisture without caking on the skin and leaves the skin silky smooth. I adore this product and will be replacing it when it has run out. I think it's really good value and love how long the scent lasts.
I paid £6.50 for this dusting powder from Lush.
The powder comes in the usual talcum powder packaging and it has a little shaker on the top of it where you shake the powder out. The powder is white in colour and it's the same consistency as regular talcum powder. I was surprised when I opened up the packaging as I found a whole Vanilla pod inside! The powder feels lovely and soft, just as soft as cotton wool. The powder can be used on the hair as a dry shampoo. I just shake some of it onto my roots and blend it into my hair with my fingers. The powder absorbs the grease in my hair and it leaves my hair smelling sweet and pleasant, unlike how it usually smells! I use way too much stuff on it! This powder is lovely and gentle and it makes an ideal dry shampoo for all hair types.
The powder can be used on the body after a bath or shower. Simply shake the powder onto your skin and rub it in with your fingers. The powder leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth and it leaves the skin pleasantly fragranced. You can also use the dusting powder in your shoes! I shake some of it into my Ugg boots as it absorbs odour and keeps my feet smelling fresh and clean. The powder lasts ages too as you only need a small amount of it to make an impact. The smell of the powder is gorgeous. It smells of genuine Vanilla. It's a beautiful fragrance for the modern woman and it doesn't smell fake or synthetic like I expected it to.
Gorgeous dusting powder for all skin types.
Vanilla puff dusting powder
I love lush products mainly as they don't irritate my skin and that they are made of natural ingredients. I have tried the silky under wear dusting powder before and I really like it so I thought I would try a new one.
*About the product*
It comes in the normal lush black and white packaging and it has the sticker on with the products expiration date on and who made it, which is really cute. It comes in 80g containers.
Cornstarch (Zea mays), Magnesium Carbonate, Talc, Perfume, Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum grandiflorum), Tonka Absolute (Dipteryx odorata), Vanilla Pod (Vanilla planifolia), *Coumarin, Hydroxycitronellal
With only the perfume and the Hydroxycitronellal being safe synthetics and the rest of the ingredients are natural
*My opinion of the product*
I really like this product, it smells so nice. It does smell like vanilla pods, it is really sweet but it is quite subtle. I would have liked the scent to be a bit stronger as it is not noticeable really after a short time.
I used this product after a shower and it makes my skin really soft and smooth, and paler than it usually is as this product contains talc which is white. It is easy to apply but it does just tip out of the container easily, so I usually end up with some of the powder on the floor!
A few lush products have to be used in a short space of time, such as the face masks and the cleansers but this product has a two year 'shelf life' which is great because it does last a long time. I still have about a quarter of the silky under wear one and I have had that about a year, so you do get your moneys worth.
It leaves my skin really smooth, soft and dry, which works fantastically in summer but in the winter it does make my skin quite dry, but I would usually put a moisturiser on and then let that absorb and then put this over afterwards, just to make my skin smell nice.
The scent does not last for a long time on my skin as the powder rubs off on to my clothing, but then the scent stays on my clothes which is nice, just don't wear anything black with this as it will get on it.
It is available from lush stores and also from their site. It only comes in one size and I think it would be good if they came in small travel size ones as I couldn't take the silky underwear one with me last august as it was too big. It costs £6.99 which I think is quite a lot for a scented talc powder, but it does last ages and it is made with natural ingredients.
*smells really really nice
*Long 'shelf life'
*Leaves my skin smooth and soft
*It is also great if you put it on bed sheets as it makes them smell really nice too
*Would be great in summer - as it is slightly drying
*scent rubs off on to clothing and makes them smell nice
*Smells like vanilla pods
*you only need a small amount of the product
Thank you for reading my review
Talcum powder, it's for children and old women, isn't it? Well, Lush have changed all that with their range of grownup dusting powders. They come with several scents and the one that I currently own is the Vanilla Puff dusting powder, which I received as part of a Vanilla Scoop gift set.
The powder comes in a black shaker container with the Vanilla Puff name and the Lush logo. It is plain but attractive. The powder is suitable for vegans and contains real vanilla pod, vanilla absolute to scent and moisturise, and jasmine and tonka absolutes to add to the scent. It is bulked out with talc and cornstarch. The texture of the powder is silky and fine. I used to use the Karma powder and found that sometimes it was slightly gritty: this is not the case with this powder. The other powder used to often fall out of the tub, too, even if it was closed, but that doesn't happen with this one, luckily!
Vanilla Puff powder is part of Lush's Vanillary range which also includes a body lotion, bath ballistic, massage bar and fragrance. I usually layer it up with the fragrance and lotion. It smells delicious, very sweet and a little like caramel or biscuits. It's the nicest vanilla scent I've come across. I only use a little at a time, and judging by how long my previous dusting powder lasted, this one will also last for ages!
You can also sprinkle a little dusting powder over your sheets to make them smell nice!
This is a lovely dusting powder and something I will definitely buy again. It costs £6.65 but it does last for absolutely ages.
One of the reasons for Lush's success is their ability to create products that appeal to all age ranges, and this product is certainly one of those. To begin with I was a bit dubious about trying the 'Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder' (£6.50) as my opinion of dusting powder was that it is old fashioned, out dated and something for old women. However, my love for the other products in Lush's vanilla range and an enthusiastic persuasive shop assistant encouraged me to give the product a try - and I have bought it 3 times since and never looked back!
The scent is heavenly and lasts all day without being as powerful as the other vanilla products, but if you really want to indulge in vanilla heaven my top tip would be to combine it with the other products. If I've had a stressful day and need to rewind I love a long candlelit bath, then either liberally applying the 'Heavenilli Massage Bar' (£4.95) or the Vanilla Dee-Lite moisturiser (£10.50) leaving it to soak in for a min and then covering myself in this dusting powder, before putting on a snugly dressing gown. The effect truly is heaven not just you but your bathroom/bedroom will smell of sweet soft soothing vanilla.
Alternatively when applied alone it will leave your skin feel silky smooth. To apply it is easy, if a little messy; the twisty holed top means that you can monitor the flow of power as you pour it over your body, however even when first pouring into your hands your bathroom floor inevitably ends up covered too. Despite this and my liberal use one tub last ages and almost feels endless, which slightly justifies its expensive price tag (£6.50). It is Lush's most experience Dusting Powder, the other 4 are £5.86, but in my opinion it by far the silkiest and sweetest scented in the range.
I have also recommended this product to my mum (52) and my grandma (a proud octogenarian) and both our loving it. My grandma feels it leaves her feeling silky and young whilst my mum uses it for special treats, demonstrating Lush's ability to please a wide range of ages.
Lush comments on their website that vanilla absolute has a soft, creamy scent that most people will find relaxing - and I have to agree!
This was a total impulse purchase for me, but then thats nothing new. I only ever go into Lush to buy one of their fresh face masks and I always seem to walk back out with a bag-full!
I was at the cash register and noticed a new display of products. The sales assistant told me it was the new Vanillary range. Sold! Vanilla is my favourite smell in the whole world.
The full Vanillary product range consists of the Vanilla Fountain bath bomb £2.69, the Vanilla Mountain ballistic £7.50, Vanillary solid perfume £6.00, the Vanillary atomiser £25.00, Vanilla Dee-lite lotion £10.50, the Heavanilli massage bar £4.95 and Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder £6.50.
I bought the Vanilla Puff Powder purely because of the scent. It's a gorgeous smooth blend of vanilla and jasmine, one of the best scent combinations in my opinion. (Apparently it also smells of tonka for any perfume buffs out there. I always thought tonka was a toy truck, but what do I know!?)
Here is the ingredients list. I've taken it from www.lush.co.uk,
Cornflour (Zea mays), Magnesium Carbonate, Talc, Perfume, Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum grandiflorum), Tonka Absolute (Dipteryx odorata), Powdered Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia), Vanilla Pod (Vanilla planifolia), *Coumarin, Hydroxycitronellal
* Occurs naturally in Essential Oils.
The dusting powder (not talc, I'll explain in a second) is packaged in a black card tube with white lettering, a plastic base with a sticker telling you who made it and when (no sell-by date), and the classic talcum powder "sprinkle" plastic top. It is a Vegan product.
This is not talcum powder. Talc has had some bad publicity recently. According to Google, in autumn 2008 new research was published that said women who use talcum powder every day to keep "intimately" fresh are 40 per cent more likely to develop ovarian cancer. Talc is made from a soft mineral called hydrous magnesium silicate, and that ingredient is not found in this Lush product.
I have very dry skin so I use this sparingly, but I think it will be refreshing to use in summer when we all start "glowing!" I use it more as a perfume actually, because the scent lasts for ages.
I am also using the sales assistants recommendation of sprinkling it in the bedsheets in the morning. When you pull the duvet back to get in bed, the sheets smell delicious!
She did also say that it makes a great dry shampoo. I haven't tried that yet, but the powder is very fine and doesn't leave a talcy residue on the skin so I can imagine it would work well on hair. I have found it makes a good kids' trainer freshener too!
I would definitely recommend this product. I was concerned that £6.50 might be a bit expensive for body dusting powder, but I bought this in April and I still have about half the tub left even though it's been used nearly every day.
Cover yourself with jasmine, tonka and vanilla scented powder and help keep your skin smooth, and lets your clothes slide on and off /
