Would recommend as it works well as talcum powder, and the scent is lovely.

I bought this product when it was on offer (1 pound) because I ran out of talcum powder, and I believed that Marks & Spencers products were generally quite good. And this product did not disappoint. The product comes in a cylindrical container with a top that you can turn to extract the powder. It's just the right size of opening because I've experienced with some other talc whereby the opening is too large and you get more powder than you need for each use. But this is just right. I typically use powder when the weather is hot because I tend to sweat and get rashes. This product served my need well -- it managed to keep my skin soothed in the hot weather, and there's a very mild and pleasant lavender scent that really allows me to feel refreshed and calm even though the hot and humid weather annoys me. It is not too overpowering nor offensive, which is why I really like this product!

I know these days that talcum powder seems terribly old fashioned - and that there are also been some health concerns over the inhalation of talcum powder - but I do still wear it, particularly when it's hot weather. I have a few favourites, one of which is the talcum powder from Marks & Spencer Floral Collection - simply because the price is good and the fragrances and lovely. A 200g can of the talcum powder costs £2.50 - which I feel is really good value because it lasts ages. The talcum powder comes in a metal cylindrical container that states which fragrance is contained inside. I generally prefer the Magnolia. It has a lid on top that can be turned to open or close the holes in the lid where the talcum powder comes out. The holes in the lid are not that big and this leads on to my only criticism with this product and that's that the holes have a tendency to become clogged. When they become clogged I find that if I bang the can really hard against something solid then this is enough to unclog the holes, but it would obviously be better if there was no need to do this! The powder is white and very fine and soft. It has a silky texture to it and it pats on to the skin well without leaving a visible white residue. It is a lovely fragrance of magnolias, but the fragrance is quite subtle and not overpowering in any way - and it just gives a lovely background aroma. I find that the powder helps to keep me dry and non-sweaty (ugh....sorry!) and one application per day is enough. Overall, I think this product is really good value and I will continue to buy it.

        A natural fragranced lavender talc from M & S

You may be aware that as well as having a passion for beautiful toiletries that I absolutely adore the stunning fragrance of lavender. I grow many varieties of lavender plants in my garden where each year I will remove the flowers, which are subsequently dried then strategically placed around various areas within my home. I find the lavender aroma very calming and relaxing, so I am always thrilled when I discover products that contain its' beautiful fragrance. Unfortunately, in my experience, there are many brands that contain a very artificial scent of lavender, which simply does not work for me. This review discusses my experiencing of using Lavender Silky Talcum Powder, which belongs to the Marks and Spencer Floral Collection range. I initially used this product approximately eight years ago and have probably made at least thirty purchases since. Whilst the photograph shown above displays a tall metal container the product I currently own is provided within a 50g sturdy drum, which is metal on the inside and cardboard on the outside and was part of a collection of five other fragranced talcum powders. APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT My talcum powder is very similar in appearance to the full sized product where we are provided with some very calming images of the purple lavender flower. I was surprised that the Marks and Spencer name is not visible on the front of the drum, as it is provided in very small lettering on the reverse. There is a fairly large eye catching purple banner located in the centre of the drum with a gold coloured border on its' upper section where we are advised of the name of the product together with the word "Lavandula". MY EXPERIENCE WITH USING THE TALCUM POWDER Whilst I do not plaster myself with talcum powder after bathing and showering I always find a light application is very cooling in the summer months and both soothing and comforting in the winter months, particularly as it absorbs any excess moisture. However, the black glossy floor tiles located in my bathroom never thank me each time I step out of the bath or shower, as they always end up covered in the stuff! When you initially purchase your talcum powder you will find that the opening is protected with a small circular adhesive seal, which subsequently needs to be removed prior to use. I always find this somewhat awkward, as I tend to split a nail during the process. To access the talcum powder a twist of the small handle on the plastic lid will reveal the small opening. The talcum powder dispenses fairly easily via the six tiny holes and is extremely soft and smooth to the touch. Its' fragrance perfectly mirrors that of the lavender plant and each time I use this product, which tends to be in the evenings, I can state that on the majority of occasions I feel very calm and relaxed. I have used many brands of talc where the grains are somewhat coarse and can irritate the skin. However, the texture of this product is extremely fine and delicate to the touch and barely feels there when dispensed onto your palm in readiness for application to your body. After using the talcum powder I always ensure that I close the plastic lid to prevent any moisture entering the drum and causing the remaining power to become moist. The beautiful and calming fragrance of lavender will envelope your body whilst leaving your skin feeling silky soft and smooth. Whilst some brands of talc can feel a little drying on the skin I can state that in my many years of experience of using this product it has never caused me any adverse reactions or caused my skin to dry. As this is such a gorgeous product with an aroma that perfectly mirrors the lavender plant it receives a full 5 stars from me. OTHER INFORMATION The rear of the drum provides us with the BUAV Approved logo and the packaging can be recycled once empty. Unfortunately, the drum is not suitable for recycling once empty, which surprised me somewhat and I would suggest to Marks and Spencer that they look at using recyclable packaging. The talcum powder should be used within 24 months of opening and should be kept away from the nose and mouths of children. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY As I stocked up on this product a month or so before Christmas I was able to purchase several gift packs of six 50g talcum powders contained in cardboard drums. Some of the other fragrances are Magnolia and Camellia, which are also absolutely delightful and a pleasure to use. Their original price was £5.00, but I was fortunate enough to purchase them for £2.50, which was excellent value for money. To enable me to provide you with up-to-date information I have checked the Marks and Spencer website and would advise that you can purchase a 200g container for £2.50. I can also highly recommend all of the other products contained within the Floral Collection range. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
