I was on the look out for a new tinted moisturiser as this time of year, I have a nice tan and don't want to cover it up with thick makeup. Summer is normally the best time of year for my skin and I hate covering it up. I would rather have a much more natural look, especially in the day.
As usual, I headed straight for my local Boots, which is a massive store, and if I couldn't find anything there then I wouldn't find anything anywhere! I scoured the shelves, but shopping after a night on the town is not recommended and I couldn't find anything! Ready for giving up, I came across a shelf with summer products on. Included with the sun creams etc I found the Glow range from Maybelline.
Dream Sun Glow
Maybelline's Dream Sun Glow Bronzing Booster Makeup comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a screw on pipette/lid. It is available in only one shade which is bronze.
This product is for adding to your usual foundation or moisturiser, to give it a darker colour and your face a sun kissed glow. It can be used to darken your usual foundation or if you haven't been out in the sun, just add a little bit for a healthy glow.
How To Use
The first time I used Dream Sun Glow, I was off on a night out so wanted to wear a bit of foundation as I just don't feel ready without it. I put my usual foundation into my hand and added one drop of the Dream Sun Glow to it and mixed it in my hand with my finger. It instantly made my foundation a darker shade. My foundation still applied easily and evenly and once applied, I noticed there was a really slight shimmer to it as well. As I was going out, I also applied some of the Dream Sun Glow to my cheeks, without mixing with anything as I was after a nice tanned look, but I am quite tanned at the moment - I'm not sure if I would advise doing this is you don't already have a tan as it might be a bit too much.
In the daytime, I opt for a more natural look. There is nothing worse than heavy makeup in the hot weather anyway and I don't think that it looks nice. I wear makeup every day but when the sun is out, I definitely wear less and prefer a much more natural look. I mixed one drop of the Dream Sun Glow with my daily moisturiser and applied. I wore with natural shades of eyeshadow, some mascara (my one thing I couldn't live without!) and some natural lipgloss. The Dream Sun Glow applies just as easily as putting on moisturiser, but leaves you looking sunkissed and as if you have a little bit of something there. I like the natural look but I don't like the naked look. I don't like looking as if I have nothing on my face at all and feel a bit naked like that. Although this does look natural, it also leaves a very slight shimmer.
As I have previously mentioned, the first time I used this makeup was on a night out. It was a hot and sticky night and although I didn't hit the clubs (was far too hung over from the night before!), I didn't go home until around midnight. I was also sober so could see how the makeup had lasted. I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't reapplied anything other than my lipgloss throughout the night and my face still looked pretty good. It had gone ever so slightly shiney but with the hot, humid weather I had expected a lot worse.
In the day when used with a moisturiser, although the makeup has a slight sheen to it, it also stays quite matt throughout the day. It lasts long enough to make it through the day without having to reapply.
I think this is a must have for any woman's summer makeup bag. When it comes to this time of year and you've been on holiday or out in the sun, you can end up with that horrible brown body and white face look if you continue using your normal makeup. Normally I would buy a tinted moisturiser but then end up struggling on a night out as I wanted something more. With this product, you can add it to your normal makeup and therefore you don't need to buy two separate products for a day and night look.
On hot holidays, I don't normally wear any makeup in the day as it's much too hot but at night I like to wear a tinted moisturiser. With this product, you can add as much as you need for the colour you want and as your tan darkens, you just add a bit more so you avoid the problem you often get on a holiday of not having any makeup to suit your colour.
For lighter skin in the winter, I will probably add a little Dream Sun Glow to my makeup to use to highlight areas for a bit of a sunkissed look. I think with a bit of colour you can look so much healthier but sometimes makeup can look orange. With this product, you will not look orange just nicely tanned. At the end of the day it just washes off so you can change your look to suit how you feel.
I am really glad that I found this product as I never knew anything like this existed and it's such a good idea, I'm surprised that no one had thought of it before. It is available from Boots for £7.99 (and at the time of writing is on offer for £5.32) or check it out on Maybelline's website http://www.maybelline.co.uk/PRODUCTS/Bronzing/FACE/Dream_Sun_Glow_Bronzing_ Booster_Make_Up.aspx
Highly recommended as a must in anyones summer makeup bag!
