      Advantages

      Disadvantages

It is a good way to protect your skin

nivea moisturising sun lotion - I use this everyday. I always use Nivea as that is a brand that I can trust to deliver what I want. This sun lotion spreads fine and does not have too strong a fragrance.

I bought mine online for about £6 as it is about £10 in Tesco , whether that is helpful I don't know.
Try not to spread it on your clothes, I haven't yet but I am sure it would not do them any good and they would probably need a wash. I put my lotion on my skin, where it spreads very well. It is also water resistant, and I normally only need to apply it once, or maybe again if it is hot.

I use this as a moisturiser as my skin is quite dry, I also like to have sun protection all year round. In the summer I use factor 50 ( maybe a bit cautious ) and other factors the rest of the time. As far as I know you can use this lotion for children, but 50 + is normally what children are advised to use, ( maybe that is why I use it ! )

As far as value and how long it lasts, it depends how much you use. One 200 ml bottle will last most of the summer, for my face arms neck etc, I do not sunbathe all day though, so make allowances if you spread it all over everyday !

You do not need to shop around if all you want is sun protection and easy to use moisturiser, in my opinion Nivea is a good buy.
Hope this was helpful to at least one person.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

One of the best sun lotions I have tried :)

It is really important to wear a good quality sun lotion at whatever factor you choose ( the higher the better in my opinion!) so we usually buy Nivea when they are on buy one get one free offer.

Usually Nivea costs around £8.99 form Boots and you can pick up their after sun lotion too.

Nivea comes in all different sun factor protection levels from low which is 2-4-6 or medium which is 8-10-12 or high which is 15-20-25.

The makers also do very high for children and for people with skin that burns very easily which is 30-40-50 and they do and ultra+50 which would be perfect for babies :)

All there sun protection lotions come with UVA & UVB protection systems which filter unwanted harmful rays that can burn and cause premature aging of the sun.

I am reviewing factor 8 which says on the back of the dark blue bottle that it gives immediate protection in the sun once applied liberally all over exposed skin. This is better than Boot's Soltan brand as you have to wait 15 minute before going out in the sun for theirs!

The write up says this is non-stick and a quickly absorbed formula that helps reduce the risk of skin allergies too as it is dermatologically tested...

Water resistant but it is always better to reapply this nicely fragranced white liquid if you get wet as you may have washed some of the protection off.

You are promised smooth supple skin which acts fast along with the skin's own Hydramine.

It says it is important to re-apply after the first 20-30 minutes in the sun as obviously the first moisturising layer will have been absorbed quickly in the heat.

Important to note is this doesn't protect already burnt skin so don't be a fool - keep out of the sun and give your poor skin time to heal!

I think the Nivea brand is highly trusted amongst its buyers and its unique smell always makes it pleasant to use, the white lotion absorbs quickly giving you a safer sun barrier.

Five stars from me, this has been one of the main ranges my family has used ever since I was a baby and it' helped keep my skin nice and soft in the sun without frazzling! :)

        Disadvantages

2 in one sun screen available in several spf.

Summer is fast approaching and a large majority of us will be out enjoying the suns warmth, whether sun bathing, playing on the beach, in the park, enjoying a spot of gardening or having fun with your kids. It is important to remember your sun protection especially at this time of year, no one wants their summer ruined by horrible sun burn or worse skin cancer. No matter your age or skin colour it is important to find the right sun care for you.

Nivea sun lotions are formulated with a UVA and UVB protection system which filters the suns UV rays to help provide protection from sun burn and long term damage to the skin. The system also reduces the risk of sun allergies. The lotions are dermatologically tested and proven to protect against the sun.

        Nivea Moisturizing Lotion-
Nivea Moisturizing Sun Lotion provides all the sun protection of other Nivea sun care products but combines it with Niveas skin care and moisturizing abilities aiming to leave you not only protected from the harmful rays from the sun but also leave your skin silky and soft at the same time. When using Nivea moisturizing Sun Lotion you do not need to use a separate Nivea Moisturizing cream as the sun lotion will do the job instead.

Available in SPF 4, 8, 12, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50+ it is recommended you use a factor no less than 15 for adults and 30 for children. Nivea sun lotion is fully water resistant with an estimated time of 4 hours resistancy. The product is rich in vitamin E which protects the skin from dehydration and minimises the loss of elasticity.

The product itself now comes in a deep blue plastic bottle with a yellow flip lid, it is certainly noticeable amongst all the other sun products on display. Usually in 200 ml bottles the lotion is medium thickness meaning it's easy to squeeze from the bottle and easy to rub into the skin but is not runny or liable to spill. The lotion is a pale creamy white colour and smells vaguely citrussy, in that classic sun cream way.

        Usage Instructions-
-Apply liberally and re apply after every 20 minutes
-Ensure all skin exposed to the sun is protected
        -Repeat application immediately after swimming
-Avoid exposure to the sun between 11 and 3 pm
-Do not expose young babies to direct sunlight
-Always use a high SPF and cover children with light clothing, use
        Sunglasses and wide brim hats
-If applying make up make sure your sun cream is applied first
        -Replace sun creams every year
-You can burn through glass, cloud or glass so it is important to keep covered.

        SPF Guide-
Nivea's sun creams range in SPF from 2 to 50+
        2, 4 & 6 give low protection
        8, 10, 12 give medium
15, 20, 25 give high protection and is the lowest recommended level
30, 40, 50 give very high protection, recommended for children
50+ gives "ultra" protection, is recommended for babies and children

        Ingredients-
I will list the ingredients as with all such products it is important to ensure you have no allergy to an ingredient before using the product.

        Price and availability-
Nivea sun care products are available both online and in stores. Most pharmacies and some supermarkets will sell the Moisturizing Lotion as well as other Nivea sun care products. Nivea moisturizing sun lotion is available in the region of £5.00 for 200ml (price is for SPF 12 at Asda) many stores will do deals though and I was able to purchase 2 Nivea sun care products for £8 in Superdrug last summer. I would avoid buying from online stores though as the lowest price i've seen so far is £9.95 and that didn't include p&p.

        My Opinion-
I have used Nivea sun care products for many years and have always been happy with them, I started with the children’s spray as I was insistent on my babies having proper coverage and protection. Because the products can be quite expensive I had normally used a cheaper own brand variety for my own (and other adults) skin but when I saw the products on offer I decided to invest in a well trusted brand for myself as well as my children.

I purchased the factor 15 protection which is the minimum recommended SPF for sun protection in most adults. I have been impressed by the results, I’m not much of a sun worshiper but with a young toddler I found myself outside much more last summer, I used the cream as instructed and didn't get sun burn once. I was particularly liberal with the cream on such areas as my nose, ears and shoulders as they were most often prone to burning and not even these became reddened by the sun.

I found that a pea sized blob of the cream would easily cover my arms and hands, so it really is a case of a little goes a long way. Despite frequent usage of the lotion I still had some left in the bottle by the end of the sunny season. Of course I have discarded this as it is recommended you replace your sun cream every year, especially children’s ones, the product does in fact have the symbol on the reverse of the bottle indicating it only has a 12 month life span..

I found the cream easy to apply, the bottle dispenses the cream slowly but evenly meaning I wasn't squeezing out too much and having lots of wasted cream. The nozzle never became clogged but if it does you can remove the cap to clean the nozzle or if you wish to squeeze out a more substantial amount of cream. The design of the cap also prevented sand getting within the bottle and spoiling the cream during sea side visits, the flip lid is easy to use so perhaps best to keep out of the kid’s way otherwise you may find your little one has opened the bottle and coated him or herself in the entire contents.

The cream itself is easily absorbed but initially left my skin, especially my hands, feeling a little greasy, saying that though it was not sticky so I could be happy using it on the beach and not have to worry about getting covered in itchy sand. It is very pleasant smelling with just a hint of scent, nothing overpowering, you certainly wont get people looking at you strangley or sniffing in your deirection because you smell funny.

In regards to the moisturizing aspect I have to say this is a perfect product for me, I am useless at remembering to use all my lotions, potions and moisturizers so a sun cream that moisturizes is great. I don’t need to worry about all the other moisturizers as this sun cream takes care of that for me, I found it left the skin on my arms and legs particularly smooth, although due to the initial greasy feeling of the cream I use a lot less of it on my face and therefore do not get such good results as a moisturizer. As with most moisturizers of course it will have limited effect and once you stop using the cream at the end of summer you would need to start using another moisturizing product in it's place.

I cannot comment much on the water resistance of the product as you wouldn't catch me any where near the sea and I had recently given birth last summer so I was not getting into a swimming costume and taking a dip. I can say though that after having dipped my hands in the kids paddling pool the excess water seemed to trickle off nicely, still despite this I would still be inclined to reapply to lotion directly after going in the water, you can never be too careful when it comes to those suns rays!

My sister has used this cream and she is very prone to sun allergies, burning and reactions to products. The cream prevented her skin burning (with regular applications) and she had no allergic reaction from the cream itself. I mention this as I personally am not prone to reactions and allergies but feel it is good to know all the effects a product might have, if my sister had no reaction I can say this is a gentle product.

I would certainly recommend this sun lotion, for me it did what it claimed, protected against the sun and moisturized my skin, having only used the factor 15 I cannot comment on the other SPF levels. It is a well known brand which has lived up to it's reputation and I would happily use their products again.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A handy bottle to have around the house or on holiday

I personally have quite dark skin and tan very easily thanks to the Cypriot blood that flows through my veins so to keep my skin looking healthy and fresh while feeling soft and smooth I use large amounts of moisturisers. My moisturiser of choice is Chanel Allure, but for variation, because it is relatively cheap and when I need some protection from the suns rays I keep a bottle of Nivea Moisturising Sun Lotion on hand in my bathroom cabinet or in my travel bag when on holiday. Each 200ml bottle costs me only £8.75, considerably cheaper than most of the other moisturisers I use on a regular basis especially as I bought mine on a 2 for 1 offer from Boots just prior to going on holiday earlier in the year.

When buying Nivea products you are buying into a company with a rich tapestry of history with their first products being released onto the market in 1911 and ever since then they have spent millions developing and enhancing a wide range of products for general pampering and as such, are a company I trust when it comes to protecting my skin.

Due to my dark skin I do not have the need for a moisturising sun lotion with a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF), so I use SPF 12 however the range runs from SPF 4 up to SPF 25, so really there is a product in the range to suit the needs of most adults, either male or female. Obviously, if you have children and you wish to afford them further protection you may wish to use one of the specialist Nivea sun protection products designed for children rather this product.

The 200ml bottle I have is quite heavy when full and getting at the moisturiser can be a little tricky when my hands are wet. The bottle is made from plastic as you would expect, but the sides are entirely smooth which make it incredibly difficult to grip of really get any solid hold, especially when your hands are as small as mine! I regularly drop the bottle leading to splashes of lotion across my bathroom or worse still very sore toes as the bottle bounces off my foot. The problem of keeping hold of the bottle increases ten fold as soon as my hands are covered in the lotion. As part of the design process I would have thought that a little imagination could have been forthcoming and perhaps rough plastic edging introduced or perhaps little troughs for fingers to sit in. I know that such a small change to the bottle design would make my life a lot easier.

The lotion itself is quick thick and white in colour and as soon as the flip lid is opened you can smell the perfumes that are used to fragrance it but instead of being like most specialist moisturisers that have fragrances tied into a perfume brand Nivea Moisturising Sun Lotion doesn’t thankfully making it one of those products that the male in your life wouldn’t feel a bit girlie by using. It is very difficult to describe the smell as it isn’t as straightforward as “it smells of flowers or spicy”, it is more of a heavy fresh yet clinical smell similar to every other sun tan lotion I have used in the past, just a little bit stronger.

After fiddling around with the bottle, lid and then finally managed to get some of the thick lotion onto your hand you’ll be surprised by how quick it is absorbed, it literally starts to soak into your palm while you put the bottle down. I tend to squeeze it directly from the bottle onto the part of my body I’m going to apply it to. Spreading it isn’t hard at all, and as it is gently rubbed in it leaves a kind of glossy shine to my skin, which when tanned looks absolutely gorgeous, it immediately makes it look like my skin is totally hydrated without leaving my hands all greasy.

I always apply the lotion about 10 to 15 minutes before I go out into the sun and even use it in the evenings during summer due to the lovely effect it has on my skin. As soon as it is completely absorbed which takes no more than a minute my skin instantly feels smoother and softer. On top of this, it is waterproof and I have the peace of mind that the lotion will protect me from UVA and UVB rays stopping my skin from looking like a leather handbag.

Nivea Moisturising Sun Lotion is a godsend for me during the summer months and considering the affordable price and frequent offers and deals when making purchases of it I have no problem recommending the entire range.
