      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Good Basic Moisturiser... try it.

      I have used Olay Total Effects for 3 years now. I've realized as you age, your skin type changes. I never use to moisturize my face, but started to notice some dry patches on my skin, therefore went on a search for a effective product, and came across Olay after using couple of other brands. I wanted a cream which had some protection against the sun, as my skin is quite sensitive, and if I'm under the rays too much then I break out in white patches.

      The Brand:

      Olay was formally known as Oil of Olay, and they changed to Olay in 1999. It originated in South Africa. In the early days it was a pink fluid, but evolved into a white cream. Olay produce a range of beauty products, and their Olay Regenerist was the best performing anti-aging cream in a 2006 test done by a consumer association

      The Total Effects Range:

      "Through the years you have always known how to take care of your skin, which is why the Total Effects anti-ageing product range is just what you've been looking for. Packed with VitaNiacin, Total Effects has a powerful, concentrated formula that penetrates deep into your skin to fight 7 signs of ageing. This is quite simply an unbeatable way to achieve younger looking skin. So what's stopping you?"

      There are 16 products available in this range.

      What the Advert permotes:

      * Visibly reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles
      * Noticeably smoothes skin texture
      * Transforms skin dullness to a radiant healthy-looking glow
      * Reduces the appearance of pores
      * Diminishes the appearance of blotches and age spots
      * Intensively hydrates dry skin
      * Visibly evens skin tone
      * Skin Compatibility dermatalogically tested
      * pH Neutral
      * Non Comedogenic

      Packaging:

      Olay Total Effects comes in a traditional Olay cylinder shaped small bottle. The bottle is white with a transparent lid, and reveals a black pump.

      My Opinion:

      You only need a tiny amount of cream for your face, otherwise I find it's too greasy. I wouldn't recommend using a full pump, however this covers full face, neck and collar bone area. I use half a pump and use this on the palm of my hands, face and neck area. The white cream is quite thick, and I would say thicker than most creams. After application I find my skin to be smooth and luminous. I find that it does leave my skin hydrated and very soft to the touch. During the week, when I wear Olay I don't tend to wear any make up with it, as it's enough for my skin. But at weekends I wear make up on top of my cream and it looks great, gives a good base for my foundation, I feel that it can act almost like a soft primer.

      I feel as though it wouldn't be fair for me to comment on the anti-aging aspect of their claim, as I don't have any fine lines as of yet! However I've just read that the anti-aging ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid or Matrixyl 3000, and Olay effective products don't include any of these ingredients, so making a scientific guess I'm not sure if the anti-again part of the moisturizer will work.

      I don't think this is the best moisturize for oily skin, as it does leave your skin very moist and sometimes if not well messaged to the skin shiny. Def a good moisturizing cream for dry skin. Works wonders.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Will make you glow, gives your face a nice pick me up

      Olay Total Effects Day Moisturiser SPF 15 is a fantastic moisturiser, I was first given this as a free sample and have loved it so much i have carried on using it, I have always been a big Olay fan as my gran swears by it.

      Olay moisturiser is made by proctor and Gamble, in surrey

      The moisturiser is packaged in a black box with Olay Total Effects Day Moisturiser 7x signs of Ageing printed on the front and there is a yellow strip at the bottom stating that it is SPF15. I think there are different Total effects moisturisers that you can buy e.g. a night time one and one with a hint of self tan, but i only use the daytime one as i use various others at night time. Inside the box is a 50ml bottle which has kind of a pearlesent effect with a black pushy top down and a clear plastic lid to keep the squeezer protected (remove this each time you want to use).

      Before your first use the black pushy top has a little bit of black plastic that you pull out from the end so moisturiser can be released.

      On the back of the bottle the moisturiser states that it is for younger looking skin and to smooth over face, neck and decollete area. Also notes what to do if product gets in your eyes. The makers phone numbers are on the back along with their address.

      When you first use you have to give the black pusher a couple of pushes to get the moisturiser out, all further applications just one push at a time. I tend to use 2 pushes to get enough moisturiser on my face and a further 2 pushes to moisturise my neck.

      The moisturiser spreads really well and sinks in lovely to the skin, it has a great consistency not too thick but not runny, the smell is nice and not too strong. After i have put on, my face has a lovely glow and this lasts all day. Without my moisturiser i always look a bit washed out, this immediately picks me up.

      I always stock pile this when i buy it as i only buy when on special offer for £7.99 as the usual price is £15.98 or something like that. If i could not get this on special offer i would have to say i would be tempted to try and find anther alternative as i am not sure if it is worth £15.98 (mind you i am not sure if any moisturiser is worth £15.98.

      Buy this it will make you glow.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Worth Every Penny

      It's bad enough that I'm 26 and using Anti-Ageing Creams, but I've actually been using this one since I was, wait for it, 16. Olay were doing a mail shot and I got a free mini tube which I just loved. When it eventually ran out (admittedly I wasn't using it every day at that point, so it lasted a while) I decided it was worth the pocket money and invested. Since then, whatever I've been doing, and whichever country I've been doing it in, I've had Olay Total Effects by my side. Originally it was available just in Normal, quickly followed by a Fragrance Free and Night time versions, but this one, the Fragrance Free SPF 15 pot, is my favourite.

      Total Effects is available pretty much everywhere, from Boots to BodyCare to Tesco, to the supermarkets of deepest, darkest Mexico. It comes in a small cream pot with a clear lid, neither of which I am particularly fond of. The problem with the pot itself is that it is not sea-through, so it's hard to know how much you have left (the cream is dispenses through a fixed, black nozzle, so you can't even peek inside). The problem with the lid is that it IS clear - but since I apply moisturiser in a hurry, I am not careful with it and the lid does not stay clear for long. In fact often it looks at best like there's been a slight explosion of a non-identifiable white cream inside it, and at worse like it's a prop from a delightful Mexican porno.

      The cream that comes out of the aforementioned black nozzle is thick and white. I tend to use the Fragrance Free version and it lives up to its name with not a hint of a scent to it, though the normal version has a nice floral kick to it. The dispenser is well made and I have never had any problems with it clogging - the first few pumps of a new pot, and the last few of an old one tend to require slightly more effort, but the many, many pumps it provides between these come out with no trouble at all. I like the dispenser action as I always feel there's something a little icky about those pots where you scoop your fingers in to get the cream out, leaving a trail of finger-borne bacteria behind.

      Since many skin experts say sun damage is the main cause of early aging, it makes sense to use a moisturiser that contains an SPF. It shouldn't be used in place of sun cream when you're baking in the sun on the beach, but for every day exposure, the SPF 15 in this cream should be enough. In total, the cream fights 7 signs of aging. These are signs I've never seen (and hopefully, through using this cream, never will) but include:

      **********************************************************
      Minimises lines: Visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
      **********************************************************

      Maybe if I had fine lines, this would reduce them. For now, I'm happy for it just to keep them at bay entirely.

      **********************************************
      Nourishing Moisturisation: For a Radiant Healthy Glow
      **********************************************

      Definitely - I look wide-awake and fresh faced whenever I apply this.

      **********************************************************
      Tone Enhancement: Balances colour & visibly reduces appearance of age spots
      **********************************************************

      Essential for me since I don't hide my skin under make-up. I do think this gives me a balanced colour, despite my daily over-exposure to the sun (usually incidental, sometimes deliberate)

      **********************************************
      Gentle Exfoliation: Smoothes and evens skin texture
      **********************************************

      I am intrigued by this claim, (it must be really gentle for you not to feel it), but ok.

      **********************************************
      Pore Refinement: Minimises the appearance of pores
      **********************************************

      Absolutely. And for extra pore refinement you can keep this cream in the fridge, which also give you a nice tightening, tingly feeling when you smooth it on.

      **********************************************************
      With Anti Oxidants: Helps prevent free radical damage to the skin's surface layers
      **********************************************************

      Not sure this is something I could expect to see at my age (or to see being prevented) but good to know.

      **********************************************
      Subtle firming: Hydrates for firmer skin appearance
      **********************************************

      Ditto, I don't have (shudder) saggy skin, but it seems to keep my nice young firm skin nice and young and firm, which is enough for me.

      The thing I love most about this cream is that a little goes a long way - it takes me 3 months to get through a 50ml bottle, using it twice a day virtually every day (allowing for trips and sleepovers). It is not cheap at full price - about £16 - but it is almost always on offer somewhere. Currently you can get it from Boots.com for a mere £11. If you are interested but don't want to rush and invest, you can get a free sample from the Olay website (see below).

      The effect this cream has on my skin is the ultimate reason I continue to buy it. For me, the anti-aging side of things is a bonus, but I would buy a moisturiser that didn't offer these claims if I liked it enough. Unfortunately, though I have tried cheaper alternatives, nothing works like Olay does. As soon as I put it on my skin glows. This reduces during the day, but my skin stays smooth and soft to touch. It lasts a good 18 - 20 hours, though I tend to reapply twice a day as I wash my face morning and night. If I am using a face wash or scrub, or one of those cleansing wipes, sometimes my skin can feel quite tight, but as soon as I apply this moisturiser the feeling subsides. I don't wear make up, but with this moisturiser I don't need to as my skin is so nice and even and fresh looking. The simplicity of it all appeals to me - wash, moisturise, go. I can be showered, changed and ready to go in 15 minutes with this in my bathroom, as you don't even need a mirror to apply it, since it obviously won't streak or go on funny.

      Personally I don't think there is too much difference between the moisturisers in this range, and it's all down to personal preference. Those with sensitive skin may prefer the fragrance and colour-free versions, while those people who are outdoors a lot like me might like the SPF one. I don't bother with the night cream, just applying the day one again in the evening, but again, it does exist if you want it.

      To summarise, I like the scent (none), the colour, the consistency and the effect it has on my skin. I am not a huge fan of the pot, but I've become used to it over time, and I can;t dock a star for it since if you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, you can hardly just a moisuriser by its container.

      I would certainly recommend this product, and I'm not alone - the website tells me that 4 out of 5 "Easy Living" readers would recommend Olay total effects too.

      Worth every penny.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        using olay total effects really fades the seven signs of aging, believe me!

        i've been using olay total effects Day Moisturizer SPF15 for more than two years now and it really helped me to gain a much smoother, pimple free skin that i always wanted.

        I was able to use so many kinds of skin moisturizers and SPFs before and it was always the same: i end up having allergic reactions! I think my skin is so sensitive it cannot take heavily scented moisturizers even cosmetics for that matter.

        But when i started using olay total effect i noticed the change taking effect in as early as 1 week. My skin felt and looked smoother. No more grainy sensation when i run my fingers on my face. The small lines near my eyes and smile lines becomes visibly lesser. You know what my cheeks started to develop that healthy rosy glow so that i don't really need foundation and concealers to cover up imperfections on my face because they already going away! My husband noticed it too! And so everytime my olay supply runs out, he is the one who runs to the nearest store to secure another one! (i think husbands do like their wives to look their best).

        A great moisturiser which makes your skin feels nice

        I bought this moisturiser when there was a promotion on at our student union, so I managed to get this for the amazing price of £1!

        I really liked this moisturiser. I hadn't really tried Olay products before, and I have to say that I did only buy this because of the low price, but I'm really glad I did and will probably buy it for full price after I have finished this bottle.

        This is sold at quite a few beauty shops and department stores. I have seen it in Boots and Superdrug for around £15.

        The moisturiser is an anti-ageing day moisturiser. It is called 'total effects 7x', as it is supposed to combat the seven signs of ageing. The moisturiser is for your face.

        I am still quite young at 23, so I don't really suffer from wrinkles just yet, but after using this I do think that my skin feels smoother and softer. It also feels a bit plumper and firmer to the touch.

        The bottle comes in a 50ml size and has a pump lid on it which you push to get the moisturiser out.

        The moisturiser itself is orangey/pink in colour (don't worry, it doesn't turn your skin that colour!) and doesn't really smell of much, but it smells pleasant none-the-less and a little flowery. The moisturiser is quite thick, which I really like in a moisturiser.
        The moisturiser is really easy to apply. It goes on smoothly and absorbs into the skin quickly. Even though the bottle only comes in a 50ml size, I find that it lasts for a long time since I don't need to use much each time I use it. I find that one pump of moisturiser is more than enough to do my whole face.

        This was really gentle on my skin and it didn't irritate or make my skin sore. I sometimes get dry skin after showering or in cold weather and need to apply a moisturiser, and I really felt like this moisturised my skin and I didn't have any dry patches at all after using this.

        This has an SPF of 15, which scores some extra points in my book. I think it is quite important to have a moisturiser which protects your skin, as well as moisturising it.

        The bottle is a white plastic colour and has the Olay symbol at the top of it and 'Olay' written underneath with 'total effects 7X' written underneath that. I quite like the bottle since it is quite a simple and effective design.

        I would recommend this moisturiser, I think it is a bit on the expensive side at £15 for 50ml, but I did find a difference in my skin after using it and I really like how my skin felt. A great product!

          complexion background: 21 yrs of age, sensitive dry skin in winter prone to peeling and some spots, problem free skin in summer, slightly dry on the cheeks a little oily on the T zone. this product is amazing. i take very good care of my skin and have tried different products, but this one is outstanding and i highly recommend it to everyone! i have also made my parents use it and they are skeptics-turned-believers! this product is not only for the late 20's onwards. even young skin can benefit from it! for everything else it does, an extra anti-aging effect doesn't exactly harm! reasons for my rave review.... smells good. a feel-good smell. absorbs well and doesn't leave oily residue. there's a soft luminous glow to the face... why pay good money for high end skin luminizers when u can get it all in 1 product???! works very very well. skin looks so radiant and fresh, moisturised, did not give any spots or cause any problems even for sensitive skin! i don't know abt the anti-aging part, i'm 21 yrs old!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Like many other people, my introduction to this product was via a free sample that came through my letter box. Although I don't use many beauty products, I do like to keep my skin moisturised and so I was keen to try. I am 30, and although my skin is in fairly good shape, I am starting to develop tiny lines around my eyes. Within a week of trying Total Effects these had more or less vanished and my skin had a softness and elasticity about it that I'd not experienced in years. Not only did I look younger but I felt younger too. Once my free sample ran out I knew I had to have some of this wonderful cream and rushed out to get some. I found that in most outlets it was very expensive (£18.50) but I eventually tracked it down in a discount toiletries store for about £11.50. It might be expensive but it is certainly worth every penny. The cream is unperfumed and is not at all greasy. It seems to be absorbed almost immediately giving your skin an almost instant suppleness. The cream comes in a handy pump-dispenser which means that you squeeze out just the amount you need and that every little bit is squeezed out before you throw the empty dispenser away. My only criticism of the packaging is that the opaque plastic doesn't allow you to see when you are close to running out. I would recommend this product very highly to anyone.

          Moisturiser / Day Moisturer with SPF15 to fight the seven signs of aging
