I have to admit that I am a fan of the old fake tan and I decided I would try a new product instead of the usual stuff that I buy.
One of my friends had recommended St Tropez mousse as it shows up instantly so that was the product I had originally set out to buy. However, when I got to Boots and say the price of the St Tropez mousse I had second thoughts, £30! I just could not afford to spend that much money, being a student and all.
This left me with a dilemma, I wanted a fake tan that would show quickly as I had a party in a couple of day's time but I just simply could not afford the instant tans. My eyes then diverted down the shelf to the PIZ Buin products.
And then I saw what was the answer to my problem, the PIZ Buin self tanning lotion and colour dial.
This lotion comes in a bottle which has a dial on the top with 6 different shades of tan which you can alter depending on what shade you are looking for. These shades go from light to dark so if you are a bit nervous of going dark straight away you can gradually use the lotion and use a darker colour each day.
What I also like about the product having a colour dial is that it makes the product suitable for all skin tones. This eliminates the problem of having to buy different shades of products and lotions if you are a regular fake tan user and need to use different colours depending on what stage you are in your tan.
Another reason I like this product is that it can be used on the face and body. Some fake tan products are specifically for different areas which can be very annoying especially if you find you have run out of one of them when you are in the middle of an application!
As with all fake tan products I used a tanning mitt to apply this product and it did not leave any streaks. However, be careful around you elbows as I found this product to go quite dark on them. You do not have the problem of putting too much product on the mitt either as this bottle is a pump so you can put a small amount on the mitt at a time.
As far as fake tanning products go this tan smells quite nice. Sometimes I find people can know you are wearing fake tan from the smell of it rather than the colour. This product smells quite summery and reminds me of the sun, like sun cream lotion.
I use this product before I go to bed in order to let it develop which takes a couple of hours, make sure the tan is dry before you go to bed though to avoid any unwanted marks, this goes for all fake tans. This won't take long if you have applied the product evenly and not layered on I would say put it on about 15-20 minutes before you go to sleep.
When you wake up you will have a nice, golden glow that is not orange! If you just look a bit more tanned in this gloomy weather you can use the lowest shade on the colour dial. It does not make you look overly tanned and just gives you a bit of colour.
One thing I must say about this product is make sure you either apply it frequently or have a good exfoliator as I found that when the tan was fading it became quite speckly.
I purchased this product in Boots for between £8 and £9, this is for a 240ml bottle. However. I have seen the product more expensive online so I would recommend shopping on the high street rather than the internet as some companies charge up to £15.
All in all a good summery scented fake tan which is a necessity for any girl's beauty regime!
