      A superb after sun balm

We recently went on holiday to Menorca, and one of the most important things I knew I had to pack was after sun lotion. Even though I wear factor 50 sun cream, I always manage to catch the sun and the only thing that relieves the soreness is after sun. When it came to packing my suitcase, my mum told me not to bother packing after sun as she had got some Simple stuff on a 'buy one get one free' offer, so it was one less thing for me to buy. I've never used any Simple After Sun products before, I like their skincare range so thought this would be a good product to use too. It's now become my favourite After Sun lotion and I have thrown out the other two I have at home as they simply aren't up to scratch when I compare them to this one, and here's why!

The lotion/balm comes in a tube which sits on the lid, and I always think this is so handy as it means the product is always ready to be dispensed and you don't have to faff about with shaking it to get the last few blobs out of it. It's a white tube, with blue highlights, and a matching blue lid too. It's attractive packaging, and has all the product information you would need on the front and back. The size of the tube is 200ml, which has been plenty for me - I have used it every day on holiday, several times a day and quite a bit since I've been home too and I have just under half left so it's been good value for money. It is listed at £7.16 on Boots.com, but most suncare can be found on offer in various retailers throughout the summer months.

The balm itself is white in colour, and not too runny which is great. I have a L'Oreal after sun and it is far too thin - it makes my skin greasy and it's messy to apply. This is the opposite, it's a good consistency - thin enough to be spread around well and be absorbed by the skin easily, but not too thin that it's runny and horrible. I always apply it in small areas, putting a bit onto my fingers and massaging it in to the red areas. I've used it on my face, arms, chest and legs and have had no problems with reactions at all, and I've used it widely on Harry's young skin too without problems - this is definitely the best thing about Simple products. Because of it's white colour, it does show up for a few minutes but takes no time at all to be absorbed into the skin.

I found it to be very cooling, especially on my chest and shoulders which really caught the sun whilst I was in the swimming pool with Harry on holiday. I applied it last thing at night to work its magic while I slept, and first thing in the morning so my skin wasn't too tight and make me uncomfortable. It's cooling once you apply it, and you can feel it moisturising your sun burnt skin as soon as it hits. It contains canola oil which helps to hydrate the dry skin, and protects the delicateness of your skin too. It's got no perfume to it, although I found it's scent to be lovely - it's very unisex and just smells fresh. There are no colourants used either so it's a nice product if you don't like using lots of chemicals. It is also a "sensitive" product so is especially applicable for people who have sensitive skin and struggle with chemical laden products. I also agree with the 'extra rich' label given to this product, it feels rich when you apply it, and my skin certainly thanked me for it whenever I applied it, drinking it up!

My dad got very sunburnt on holiday, and he found this stuff to be a saviour. He seemed to be applying it fairly often, and said it just cooled and stopped him feeling so sore, especially where clothes rubbed against his red skin. I found it took down the redness of my sunburn quicker than if I hadn't used it too, possibly because of how well it rehydrated my skin. I was so impressed by it that it's the only After Sun product I will use on myself and Harry now, and I like to apply it after we've been in the sun all day, even if we aren't at all red, just to moisturise and hydrate our skin. As I said, it sinks in quickly which is good when you have active children you're putting it on and they won't sit around to wait for it to disappear! It's good value for money considering what a great product it is, and even better if you can buy it on a promotion. I won't be without this in my house or suitcase now, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new After Sun product.
