I am a latin and ballroom dancer, and this product is just amazing. It makes our lives so much easier! Before I discovered this product the week before a competition would be spent tanning and going round to other people''s houses to help them tan their backs etc. as we wear some fairly skimpy costumes. We would then spend the week after the competition fading back to normal, in a rather streaky fashion.
This is the only tanning product I need now! It has a fairly natural brown, rather than orange colour. It smells slightly odd but not half as bad as a lot of tanning products out there. My favourite think about it is that you don''t have to worry about streakiness or how it''s going to fade as it washes off!
Although it washes off it does take a bit of scrubbing, which means it doesn''t come off while you''re wearing it. You''d want to be careful if you were wearing light colours, although it does wash out of clothes. It won''t come off if you sweat.
Application is pretty easy. It comes out of the can looking like brick dust and you rub it in straight away, it''s easier if you have an assistant to do the bits you can''t see (this is where my mum comes in really useful at competitions! Once you''ve rubbed it in it will easily come off your hands using a baby wipe or a make up wipe or just washing with soap and water.
It works on faces and bodies, as long as you are a bit careful when doing your face. It is long lasting - on a typical competition day I would put it on around 7 in the morning and leave it on until 10 or 11 at night, with no problems.
Anyone who reads my reviews has probably figured out by now that I'm a bit obsessed with tanning. I fear if you tell someone you are a tanning addict they automatically conjure up images in their mind of an orange, fake looking person. I like to think the opposite is true. I have used allot of different products, gone through the trial and error, and have now found the products and techniques to give myself the most natural looking tan possible. I hate the whole orange tan, heavily made up look, I would rather be pale and interesting than look like that, but now there is so many quality tanning products about, I don't need to do that, I can have a nice glow, and not just look like I need a good wash! Even though I have found near perfect products that I have been using for a long time, I can still have my head turned by a new product.
I love Soap and Glory. I was bought a massive box set of goodies from the brand last Xmas and was a fan after trying the products, so when I was in boots stocking up on their shower gel and scrubs I noticed the shelf that held tins of 'Glowgetter' and had to have a closer look...
"She was sunny and beautiful and bronzed, a real...Glow Getter - rub-resistant face and body sun powder spray. It's fun, fabulous, easy to apply, and our special airbrush finish makes it amazingly authentic."
The promise of an 'airbrush finish' is what prompted me to pop this can straight into my basket. It wasn't cheap, at £10.50 for a 100 ml bottle, but as it was Soap and Glory I was willing to give it a try without having read any reviews on it (I would usually read a few reviews on a product being parting with my cash and giving it a go myself).
Glowgetter is an instant tan from a spray can. Very unusual. Not something I have seen before.
When I got home I wanted to try it straight away, and as I had exfoliated in the shower that morning I figured it would be a good time to test out the tan.
I followed the instructions to Hold the can 20-25 cm from my skin, then spray lightly onto my face and body. The colour that came out of the can was orange. I quickly grabbed my tanning mitt and began to blend it in as much as I could, but the colour was still orange. The tan was like a powder instead of a liquid (even though it came from a can) which I think I would have liked were it not for the orange colour. Luckily this is a wash off instant tan, so I was able to shower the offensive orange looking stuff off my body no problems. I have done a small tester on my legs since then, thinking I might have been too heavy handed the first time, but the result was still an awful, orange looking tan.
This is a very disappointing product from Soap and Glory, as I am usually so impressed with their products. I won't be buying this one again.
Single, pale and just plain skint? Well, Soap & Glory's Glow Getter won't find you the perfect man or make you a millionaire, but it will damn well sure give a tan that will be the envy of your friends.
As spring sprung into summer, my legs, arms and just about everything else were far from ready for the weather we've been having lately. My albino-esque skin shuns any form of light, ensuring I stay an ever so lovely deathly shade of white.
I'd fell for the dozens of advertisements, with models brandishing their beautiful bronzed limbs at the screen. But time after time I was left rather disappointed, whether it be by the smell of the tan, the ridiculous price or the streaky result overall.
On an off chance shopping trip to Boots, my sister who is also part pretend-albino dragged me over to a pretty stand in the toiletries aisle, hundreds of pink bottles and tubes of every shape and size greeted me as my sister grabbed her purchase (some skin thing) and ushered me back to the bustling main aisle; but not before a rectangular box caught my eye.
'She Was Sunny And Beautiful And Bronzed. She Was Real' the slogan read. Peering down at my chalk white legs my equally pale hands seemed to pick up the box of their own free will as I joined my sister at the counter to pay (costing me £9.99) before heading home.
After reading the instructions on the back, I set to work on my legs, spraying the instant tan and almost dying when I realised how dark the spray was. But I didn't have to worry as I blended the spray around an area of my leg leaving it perfectly sun kissed - just like the models of the TV!
Ten minutes later I emerged from the bathroom as a new women. Well, one who didn't look like she was knocking on heavens door anyway. I flounced my way into my tan-phobic sister's room to show her the spectacular result, and even she was pleasantly surprised!
The great thing about this product is the fact that it is instant so you can see there and then the result! If, like me you have a phobia of tan lines or streaky-ness of any shape or form then this is the product for you as there are NO STREAKS and if you find you don't like it, it washes of with soap and water.
An hour after application, I headed out to a barbeque where I got compliments literally all night, and because there was no smell, no streaks or lines, everyone thought I'd been on holiday!
- Colour is gorgeous
- NO streaks
- NO nasty tell tale smell
- Washes off
- Instant so you can see there and then
- Costs £9.99 per 100ml bottle - although it lasts a while some may find this a little pricey
