Advantages: Spray bottle makes application easy. Effective protection.
Throughout the summer time I always use sun protection in order to keep my skin healthy. I alternate between different brands and different levels of protection depending on how hot the weather gets. One of the products I've been using recently is this Superdrug Solait Moisturising Sun Spray. I have the 10 SPF version which is classified as low UV protection although this brand has a large range which includes a 15 SPF and 30 SPF version in this spray bottle format in addition to a range of Solait lotions.
The product comes as a 200ml sized bottle. The bottle is distinguishable by it's red plastic design and the SPF number is printed on the label on the front of the bottle. The bottle is fitted with a pump action style button which has it's own lid. I find the lid very secure and would happily take this in my suitcase or travel bag without worrying it would come open. You can actually unscrew the pump from the bottle entirely although there is no need to do this unless you want to recycle the bottle after use or pour out the dregs of the bottle! The bottle has two information labels. The label on the front is printed with the most important information you might need to know if you were reading this quickly in store. It tells me that the lotion "protects against sun-induced DNA damage" and that it has "advanced" UVA protection. It proclaims that the formula of the lotion is "long-lasting" and "hydrating" as well as being resistant to water and tested dermatologically to make sure it's suitable for all skin types. The lotion is suitable for vegetarians with the brand being against animal testing.
The label on the back is printed with more information including health and safety instructions, full ingredients, directions for use and more detailed information about the lotion. The writing is a little small but just readable for someone as short sighted as me! Superdrug explain that the lotion is formulated with vitamin E, a skin conditioning vitamin and that it can keep skin moisturised for up to 24 hours. They also say the lotion can stop premature ageing and that it has top-notch protection qualities, stopping UVA and UBV rays from harming skin.
You must shake well before using this lotion and then apply "generously" to the body twenty minutes before sun exposure. You need to re-apply after activities such as swimming or showering or even if you sweat a lot. There are a lot of tips about being safe in the sun written on the label of this product which I find really helpful. This 10 SPF is only suitable for adults. Children should be treated with at least a factor 30.
Depending on where you want to apply this you should hold the bottle at a safe distance so that the lotion is directed onto that area. For instance, I can hold the bottle a bit further away from my skin when I'm applying to my chest or thighs and I hold it closer when I'm applying to my arms. You can also spray direct into the palms and then apply the lotion to the desired area. The spray bottle means you can apply to areas very quickly and easily. If you are already outdoors and need to top up your protection I've found these spray bottles are the best way to do that. The pump dispenses a fair amount of lotion, about a 50p sized smidge when you hold the bottle close to the skin. The lotion is white and thin in consistency. When I rub this into my skin it sinks in very quickly and vanishes. It feels non greasy and very light. The lotion has a milky, flowery smell which is similar to that of other sun creams. It feels very moisturising and makes my skin feel softer and more elastic. It's moisturising qualities are as good as any dedicated body lotion or cream.
I've used this on days when the sun hasn't been as strong but when there is still a danger of being exposed to harmful burning rays. I've found that it awards me with a very good level of protection. I've never come in from the sun having been 'caught out' after using this. It has always given me enough protection and my skin never looks red or raw after being outdoors whilst wearing this lotion. I can use this spray all over my body including on my face. It is easy to use and provides a no-fuss method of application.
I would definitely buy this Solait in the future. I originally opted to buy it as it was slightly cheaper than other brands. Despite the cheaper price the product is as high a quality as more expensive brands. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a sun protection cream.
You can buy this in store or online. It's currently £5.85 for a 200ml sized bottle. They are also running a buy one get one half price promotion on these products.
Summary: High quality sun protection lotion.
