When I found my holida tan fading, I wanted something to top the tan up. I don't like sunbeds so a self tanning product was my only option.
I've tried various products in the past with varying results, so asked friends for recommendations. Most of them recommended the St. Tropez products so after about half an hour of reading & re-reading the packages at Boots, I opted for the St Tropez gradual tan everyday moisturiser. I chose the Light/Medium as I was worried about it going too dark.
I used the moisturiser every night for about 5 days before going to bed. My husband noticed a difference after about 3 days. Once I'd got it to a colour I was happy with I reduced the usage to every other night. This sustained the colour I wanted.
The colour looks natural & because it's a gradual build up you can just reduce the usage when you're happy with the colour.
Once I'd run out I bought the moisturiser aagin but stupidly grabbed the wrong bottle so ended p wit the Medium/Dark. This one i'm not so impressed with. I've found that I seem to have a few spots since using it & also it leaves the give away orange mark around my hairline, which the Light/Medium didnt do.
Next time I'll get the Light again!
I am reviewing the 'Gradual Face Tan' by St Tropez as I personally felt very let down after purchasing. I purchased in the hope it would live up to the usual excellent quality of St Tropez however seemed to fail miserably.
Firstly the consistency is extremely fluid like and feels greasy when rubbed in to the skin, which in tern leaves your face with a very unattractive shiny almost wet glow (and i have dry skin!).
St Tropez is usually the first product i grab if wanting to achieve a non streak golden glow however even after several applications this product failed to leave even the slightest of colour on my skin. I understand the product is designed for 'gradual' tanning but i feel at least 3 bottles would be needed to achieve the faintest of glow by which time your face would be greasier than a tub of Vaseline!
Personally i would plead with you not to waste you money on such a disappointing product! Opt for a normal St Tropez tanning cream instead!
If any of you out there read my review on the ST.TROPEZ Everyday gradual tan for the body you will know my lovey husband likes to dabble now and again in USING MY tanning cream for the body.I've got to admit he buys it me so i shouldn't grumble (But the pronoun of "mine" means "belonging to me").He is not really bothered about the face cream because he has a nice natural glow to his face (Probably muck! ha ha no only joking)he doesn't tend to use the tanning cream but i still find the need to hide it.
As i also like and use ST.TROPEZ body for everyday i wanted to use the same make on my face so as to match up the colour to my body.I have found that i prefer the face moisturiser to the body tanning cream.I think it has the same effects that the body cream has with regards to the gradual tan build up but i think it's easier to apply (probably because it's on my face)and i find that it soaks in a lot better. It's a daily moisturiser, as well as the subtle tan that you build up over a few days but it is very subtle in the fact that i've found that it gives me a nice healthy glow on my face.I didn't want to go for the mahogany effect so this suits me down to the ground.I feel this cream does have more of a fragrance than the body cream buts it's still not the aroma that you get from other tanning products(The burnt sweaty smell yuk!)it's kind of like the old Oil of Ulay aroma before it was renamed(Thats the only thing i can compare it too)so it's not a nasty smell.I've found that the consistency is a little on the thin side but the cream easily absorbs into my skin.I have pretty good skin, if thats the only thing i like on myself (Oh and my mane)so don't really have many problems or reactions to creams and potions but i do find that this product does sting a little around the eye area now and again. It does state on the tube to be careful around the eyes when applying but i tend to think that because ST.TROPEZ is a well known brand and extentive research has gone into the product that this is normal for this to happen now and again because i am very clumsy and heavy handed (If this happened everytime i would discontinue use)It's not only this cream that has made my eye area smart a little, so please be careful around your eyes!.The cream is of white colour and has a nice sheen to it when massaged into the skin and i really feel my skin has had a nice little drink. My face and neck area does feel really smooth and glows even after the first application. The cream has dual functions, aswell as being a subtle gradual tan builder it's also enriched with marine extract aswell as vitamin E, thats well known to improve skins elasticity and help reduce the appearance of fine lines (So it says on the tube)and i back that up "well it's working for me".The only little quibble i have is that my hair is really blond(Yep thats fake aswell)and if you're not careful you Blondie's out there you could have a not so nice brown streak around your hair line.(Will quickly mention how i combat that problem in the directions further down). Also take particular care around the eyebrows aswell!.My skin really feels silky and smooth to the touch and with a hint of tan makes me feel so much better and happier about myself.I know a few reviews have rated this product not the best but it's my friend at the moment and until it upsets me i will stand by it as friends do.
I always exfoliate my face with a scrub and deep cleansing wipes twice a week then wait at least ten minutes before applying my daily moisturiser into my eyebrows and hairline, as i feel this helps form a barrier for the tanning/moisturiser to sit on (In my book And it's not the Gospel)you can never moisturise too much especially in the Great British weather we have.Use circular motions to apply the cream,i like to do this gradually with a small amount then apply more if needed, taking added care around the hairline, eyebrows and paying particular attention to my neck and around the nape of my neck. Also i apply a little to my decolletage. After applying i wash my hands making sure i use the nail brush on my nails, then i use a wet wipe and rub lightly over my eyebrows and a little around my hairline thats if i've been a little careless. Then allow to absorb into the skin before i apply a little highlighter on a brush to my cheekbones, temples, jawline and other areas that catch the light(This defines the outline gives you great definition think HD TV's you get the gist!).Then a bit of mascara add a touch of clear lip-gloss and "VOILA" for the natural look!
It's the same as the body tube only smaller.I have the 50ml tube and i've had this for well over 4months and if you mix it in with your daily moisturiser you can make the cream really cost effective, also it helps dilute down the cream if you want an even more suble tan (Although i don't feel the need to do this as the cream i purchased is fair to medium shade). The tube is white with the famous ST.TROPEZ name written down the side in thin black writting (Same as the body cream)I like the no nonsense packaging, along with the trusted name your also getting the high standard of product with the easy function of useability. It has a black flip lid and i don't have to squeeze the tube to access the liquid. The tube measures just under 12cm and is smooth to the touch.
COST WISE FOR THE 50ml TUBE

I have found this cream an essentail part of my daily skin care routine.I do find that the product has had some criticism, probably due to the fact it's not the most reasonably priced gradual tanning product there is on the market. On attempting other products i don't consider this one to be any less on performance than the other leading creams within the same price range.I feel this little gradual tanning cream has been overlooked and has had a bit of bad press for being a bit pricey but i'm on my soap box about it but thats just my opinion.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TAN/MOISTURISER AND GIVE IT 3/5
A great deal of people who are not naturally blessed with tanned skin turn to self-tanning products now a day.
After a trip to Egypt left me with a very healthy golden glow I began to miss it more than I expected when it vanished from my face after a few week. My body remains still tanned and in no need for a self tan product but my face now doesn't match my body so I had to go back to my old ways which I said I would never do and buy the " St Tropez Everyday moisturizer for face".
In the past I have used the "St Tropez everyday gradual tan body lotion" which looks exactly the same in packaging except the facial tan is in a miniature bottle due to there been only 50ml for the same price of £14.30.
I have been using the St. Tropez facial tan lotion now for a few days and I have just started to see the difference, mainly because it is a gradual tan and also because I did purchase the tan in the light medium shade rather than my usual dark lotion which I used to use when I liked the tanned look maybe a little too much.
Although I am not reviewing the two products, it is hard not to include the fact that they seem to be exactly the same from the pricing, the consistency to the aroma.
The consistency of the product is thick, not too heavy just a nice thickness which makes those who are in need of a moisturizer as well as a tan feel more than comfortable knowing the product is thick enough to do hydrate the skin well.
The moisturizing element of the product is vitamin e, which is used in practically all moisturizers, which helps to smoothen the skin and hydrate it.
The product contains Aroma guard fragrance technology, this is supposed to eliminate tell tale signs of fake tan aroma. The problem with this is anyone who uses St. Tropez will instantly be able to distinguish the smell on your face from been a St. Tropez smell as it has a very distinctive perfumed fragrance used in both the facial and the everyday body cream.
Application is much easier with a gradual tan than an instant tan because you just apply it like a body lotion usually. St Tropez recommends applying it by blending it up to the hairline and avoiding eyebrows. These are good tips as some people who haven't used fake tan before may not know how terrible fake tanned eyebrows can look- usually look gingery and is a definite tell tale sign you are wearing fake tan.
I really like the subtleness of St. Tropez gradual tans. No one would be able to point out the fact I am wearing fake tan as there are no streaks on my face and the color is not bold nor drastic like some fake tans can be.
The problem I do have however with this product is how small the product is for the price. The fact you can pretty much buy a duplicate for the same price for 200ml is ridiculous. I am yet to see any difference in the product but I cannot complain about the results of the product as it does leave the most natural fake tan results I have used.
This is a review of St Tropez everyday gradual tan for face.
I picked my (two) tubes up from TK Maxx around Christmas time for a bargain £2.99 each for a 50ml tube. I think this is due to the fact that they chaned the packaging. The product is the same though and is marked for 'fair to meduim'.
What is it?
The product is essentially a moistuiser, with a little bit of built in tan, and is white and quite runny. It applies easily and sinks in nicely. I get a slightly dry feeling to my skin for a short while after applying but it moves away.
The bad bit
The delivery system is poor. You flip open the lid and squeeze and I always forget and squeeze out too much so end up rubbing it into my arms too as it doesn't go back in the tube once it's out.
Now wash your hands...
After applying, I always give my hands a good wash as I don't want the gradual tan within the product to stain my nails.
How good is it?
Does it work? It is really subtle, I can't tell after one application but after 3 days of solid use I feel my skin tone has a healthy glow to it but not really obvious and no fake tan lines or anything.
Don't eat it!
Another weird thing with this is not to get it on your lips as it tastes awful! Clearly you would avoid this area so it's best not to go anywhere near, it's a bit like deodrant tastes if you've ever got that in your mouth by accident.
I don't think I'd want to pay full price for this product - it sells for around £13 on amazon but I will use and enjoy the rest of the two tubes I have and will keep my eye out for more bargains! You can pick this up cheaper on ebay too. Just remember to tan your body or you'll have a tanned face and white body!
