“ Brand: St. Tropez / Type: Self Tanner / Subcategory: Mousse / Oil free: yes / What it does: Tans, Bronzes, „
St. Tropez Whipped bronze Self-Tanning Mousse is the best tanning product I have ever used, it doesn't have any orange in it what so ever! and gives you a natural looking tan. The tan works with your skin tone it goes on dark but once its on it dries then looks like you have just come off holiday that nice glow not where you have gotten orange or burnt on holiday, just the nice colour tan. Before you apply it my best tip is to have a wet, warm, soapy flannel handy because you have to apply in it circle motions on the skin and your hands can get abit messy, so after a few seconds of blending have a little break to rub your hands a few times with the warm flannel and soap it comes off more easy and doesn't give it chance to give you messy hands when it dries. Do this a few times but always dry your hands after you used the flannel before your next little pump of mousse so no water gets on the drying tan. I really would recommend this product to everyone it's great and I love the colour it does sound hard putting it on but it should only take 20mins to apply a really even full body tan. I use it on my face too and it dries after 60 seconds on my face but I would say give it half an hour on the body.
I've been using fake tans for around 8 years now so I've tried quite a few and I've yet to find a spray or lotion that is better than a mousse and certainly none better than St Tropez. It's almost impossible to look over-tanned as the colour is so subtle and it certainly won't make you look tangoed as it has no orangyness to it at all, only brown. It's really easy to apply (I'd advise purchasing a tanning mitt though just to be sure you avoid brown palms!) and the mouse has a colour guide in it so you can see exactly where you're putting it and more importantly - the bits you've missed! You can build the colour up with St Tropez products, so the more you apply the darker you'll go. I tend to just apply once though before a night out so that I look sun-kissed rather than like I've just spent 3 weeks on a tropical island, but it depends on how dark you are naturally I suppose.
I used various fake tans before I discovered St Tropez 4 years ago, and I've not purchased anything but St Tropez since then, it's definitely the best in my opinion
I have been using this product for a number of years and therefore have to highly recommend it. It has a guide colour which makes it easy to apply and gives an almost instant colour. This makes it great for last minute applications before you go out. Also, the fact it is a mousse means that it is light to apply and doesn't feel heavy or greasy on your skin like other cream fake tans do.
The colour is good and realistic for a fake tan. I am very fair and have a number of freckles and the St Tropez does not give too dark a colour. The colour lasts about 3 days so you can always apply again if you would like a deeper tan.
One word of warning - use gloves or wash your hands immediately afterwards as this can stain badly. I recommend whitening toothpaste to tackle orange hands, the sooner you do this the better the effect.
I have recently been introduced to xen-tan and I actually think this gives a better colour. However, this is best if you can apply it the night before so St Tropez mousse is still great for almost instant colour.
One final tip - shop around on the internet. It is far cheaper on eBay then Boots, Debenhams, Selfridges etc.
Being a red-head, I am milk bottle white, and although pale may be interesting its a little daunting going on your holidays in a sea of bronze with your legs lighting up the pool area at night. I swear by this product and have used it for years after many disasters with other products. Occasionally I will be swayed to buy another brand but I always return to St Tropez! This product is perfect for paler people as it is not such an intense colour but for anyone who wants to be darker or with darker skins you are probably better using the lotion or intensive bronze.
It is a little pricey but the bottle does last a while and it is worth the moneyt han buying something cheaper and walking around with orange streaks and even worse, desperately trying to hide the orange streaks with longer clothing in the heat!
As a mousse it is easy to apply and it goes on smoothly as you can see where you are putting the product because of the instant colour. At first you do look a little grey but after a few hours you become darker and then after a minumum of four hours you wash it off and voila! You are a bronzed (not orange) beauty! I find this product quicker to apply than most because of it being a mousse and its less worrying about how dark it will go because if you are too light after washing it off, another application the next day will take you to a suitably darker shade.
It smells ok when you first put it on but as it develops you do get that fake tan smell. You also have to be careful if you are applying it and then going out in the heat. I have had little white patches where i have crossed my legs and sweated the tan off. Also I would recommend using some latex gloves to apply as it can be difficult to scrub it off and you always seem to get some residue on the palms. Then use a tanning mitt to sweep over to avoid clumps of tan and there is little can go wrong. Also moisturise the knees, ankles and elbows before applying.
You have to ensure with this product that you exfoliate regularly because otherwise, as with most fake tans, dead skin starts to remove the tan and you end up with nice patches of brown under the arms or around the ankles.
The tan lasts about 3-5 days but i recommend reapplying at least after 3 days as the colour is not intense. Avoid chlorinated pools as this will remove the colour and you will have to reapply. If you do get those residue patches you can take a long soak in a bath you should be able to scrub off the excess and start over. This is a standard practice of all fake tans and when the miracle product arrives that allows you to jump into a chlorinated pool, someone let me know!
Being naturally fair skinned the only way I can get a healthy glow is to fake it, my other options would be to go red and freckly and probably risk skin cancer and wrinkles eduring sunbeds. Due to this I have tried many fake tans, mostly the more premium brand such as Fake Bake, Clarins, Estee Lauder etc and have decided that for my skin type St Tropez is definately the best one for me.
St Tropez is available in several types which I have tried, there is the lotion which goes on a very deep brown and needs to be left several hours before rinsing off, I found this made me too dark and slightly orange, everyday lotion which is not suitable for the impatient like me, the spray which gives a natural finish and can be left on during the day, however with it being a thin liquid its prone to going patchy if you miss a bit or it 'runs' so my perfect fake tan is the mousse.
St Tropez mousse has an instant colour so is great if you need to apply last minute before going out, once you rinse the instant tint off it has a very natural finish which isnt too dark but can be built if you want to look more than just slightly tanned. The mousse texture makes it really easy to apply and unless you miss a bit (which easily happens when not paying much attention) it is streak free. It does have a biscuity smell so unless its absolutely necessary I wouldnt advise leaving on during the day as you can 'smell' the tan!
I apply mine using a tan mitt which I got with a St Tropez kit and I would reccommend this alongside the mousse as it ensures you dont end up with orange palms!
St Tropez is available in many retailers now, Boots, Debenhams, Selfridges the list could go on and on!! I personally buy mine from Debenhams when they have sale days with 20% off, but if you collect Boots points they also do promotions where you earn more points when you buy St Tropez products. The mousse is available in 2 sizes, 120ml (approx £20) and 240ml (approx £30)
The ONLY problem I have with the product is that the tint that you get before you initially wash it off has a slight grey/green colour to it, but this is just the instant colour and does wash to a golden brown.
St Tropez Self-Tanning Mousse is great! The colour is fantastic and it gives a streak free finish. It make you look very bronzed and healthy.
Its a little messy and I sometimes find it hard to rub in, but neathertheless its still a fantastic product!
Its great aswell where the mousse is really dark you can actually see the bits you have missed and where your applying it, not like some of the clear fake tans.
It makes you go tanned very quickly and lasts for ages, if you moisturise everyday it will make the fade more natural and you wont be left with all white patches!
One of the bad points is when it dries it still feels slightly tepid so when you go to sleep can get on your bedsheets and is a nightmare to get out.
Also, make sure you wash your hands after every coat otherwise your hands turn extremely orange! You can buy a st tropez tan remover for the hands, which is good.
St tropez is great for a quick tan before you go out on a night out but it is very expensive as one bottle will last me 2 nights out. Apart from that a thumbs up all round!
This is the best fake tan I have ever tried purely for ease of use.
Always apply with gloves as its very quick drying and will stain your hands very quickly. Shake the bottle and press the pump which dispenses a mousse. Rub this between your gloved hands and apply from the feet upwards using upward strokes. I have found that it works better if you dont use moisturiser directly beforehand, and always exfoliate the day before otherwise your tan will not develop evenly.
Its quite expensive but there are bargains to be had on ebay. Also the smell is not wonderful but I believe St Tropez have a new and improved version now which promises to smell a lot better.
The advantages of a mousse is the drying time is so quick. If you use a lotion, it does give you a deeper tan but you will wait a lot longer for it to dry.
My strategy is to apply this on the three nights before a night out so that you gradually build it up.
I've tried pretty much every other fake tan on the market ranging from the el cheapo brands in Tesco to Fake Bake and St Tropez is by far the BEST I've ever used.
The main reason I love it is that it turns you brown & not orange which every other fake tan tends to do. I would however recommend using a fake tan mitt which cost me £3+/- in the Body Shop otherwise I did find that my hands went a scary brown colour even after washing them straight away, I think it happens because St Tropez dries so quickly; another bonus!
The only slight glitch that I have with this product is that if I apply fake tan before bed it does come off on my clothes a little but I'm yet to find a fake tan that doesn't do that and it's a small price to pay for being a bronzed goddess.
I don't know how I'd live without my precious St Tropez, my most expensive beauty product but worth every penny!
I first ever got a "St Tropez" tan for my 18th birthday, its the best tanning product around and i would recommend it to anyone wanting a lush brown tan! I have eventually bought my own bottle its £240ml and cost me £17 on ebay .. and it is usually £30. Make sure you exfoliate first as you could end up with funny patches on your knees elbows etc .. And its probably best to get a mitt to apply it with as your hands could turn v brown! I find the mitt easier to apply it anyways. You only need a little bit before you can instantly see the difference. It doesnt go orange, it goes a lush brown bronze colour. The smell isnt the best but are any fake tans?? The lid bit is good aswell because it cant leak. You only need to apply it once before you can see the difference, but if you want a deeper tan you could apply more. It doesnt go streaky either.
This is one of my essential beauty products....
On many a occasion at work I have been asked if I have been on holiday and I when I reply its false tan people are shocked because they think the tan looks so natural . And where does it come from .....a bottle of St Tropez Whipped Bronze Self Tanning Mousse.
The price is quite expensive and for a 120ml bottle you will pay £20 and for a 240ml bottle £30. I always opt for the larger bottle and it last me around a month at least. Its definitely more expensive than other products especially as you can get tan for around £8 a bottle but these just don't come close,
I have tried over 20 other false tanning products and this one is the best hands down. It applies so easily. I usually apply at least once a week maybe twice to keep looking bronzed.
Before you apply make sure you exfoliate as you could end up with patchy marks around your elbows and knees. It goes on very easily and straight away you notice the different in colour. After around 3 hours the colour has developed. On some occasions I have put another application on but I did want to look very bronzed. One coat is great for a natural looking tan.
What is good about the product is you don't get the orange look even if you put more than you usually would on. I notice the product has a slightly green tint when its in your hands, but rather than get than false tan orange glow the product is more of a brown colour when it goes on your skin.
Make sure that you wear gloves as your hands do get very stained more than with other products, plus you can rub in the product easier.
The smell of the product isn't the nicest (but I find this with all false tan products) but the scent is ok and more bearable than its competitors.
The packaging is simple and the nozzle is strong and not flimsy which is great as I have gone through about 10 bottles of this stuff and not one nozzle has broken unlike some other false tans I have used.
I love this product and genuinely would be lost without it!
St Tropez Whipped Bronze Self-Tanning Mousse was the first fake tan I ever used quite a few years ago.
St Tropez has a reputation as a high quality and effective self tan, which it lives up to quite rightly.
I can't say that it is inexpensive, as I don't think it is, however, you do pay for quality. Also, the bottle is very big and it does last a very long time.
The mousse goes on the skin very easily and you can see where you have already applied it, which i useful.
I like the fact it dries very quickly compared to other fake tans, so you can use it at any time of the day. I usually put my fake tan on before bed though.
The colour St Tropez is really nice, it's not orange, but has a nicer brown tan.
Unfortunately, it does have some drawbacks...
The price is the first one - it is pretty much more expensive than most other self tans and doesn't really offer much more in comparison.
I have used many other fake tans and currently used Dove Summer Glow, and for a tiny amount of the St Tropez price, I get similar, if not better, results.
One thing I have noticed with St Tropez is that if any of the tan gets onto clothes or anything else it tends to turn green, which isn't too good!
Overall, a high quality and effective self tan, but you can get just the same at a much cheaper price.
I decided to write a review on the St Tropez mousse as i have done one on Fake Bake (amazing!)
I used this product for a couple of months before i switched to Fake Bake. If you continue to read you will find out why...
WHAT IS IT?
This is a self tanner in mousse form that claims to give you an instant bronze tan.
PRICE & PRODUCT?
Comes in a couple of different sized bottles, 120 ml & 240 ml.
For a 120 ml bottle in Boots you're looking at around £20 and for the 240 ml around £30. In my experience it is definitley not worth paying this much for it, you are simply paying for the brand name!
If you look on Ebay & the internet you will find it for much cheaper!!
You have to shake the bottle before you can actually dispense the mousse or else it will just come out as a sort of brown runny froth which is no use to anyone. Once you have shaken it enough you will not hear any liquid moving around inside the bottle and then it is ready to be used, it does go back to liquid form after it has been standing so the next time you come to apply you will need to do this again. Also make sure you leave the lid on when you shake it or else it will go everywhere and it is hard to remove when dried.
Apparently you are meant to be able to apply this product without need for exfoliation etc but i would definitley recommend you do this as it will just stick to dry areas of skin making you have unsightly dark patches.
Once you have shaken the bottle it will come out in a brown foam/mousse then once you touch your skin and start to rub it in it goes back to liquid. I found this to be quite watery so you have to be pretty quick when your applying it otherwise it can drip leaving lovely stains on your floor/carpet etc. Not good!!
The mousse is colored so that you can see where its going & if you've missed anywhere, but it is hard to cover up mistakes once the tan has dried!
Now.... this product can be used on both face & body... however i would not recommend you use this on your face as it has a tendency to dry your skin out, especially around the chin and nose areas.
I always do my fake tan at night so that i can leave it over night then have a shower in the morning, that way i dont have to get dressed and run the risk of it staining my clothes or leaving streaks.
So i had a shower the morning after id used this for the first time, and i was pretty disappointed that i wasnt really brown anymore. I had a slight color but i expected more from a product that id paid £30 for!!
However my face had stayed really brown and i looked quite dirty which i wasnt impressed with so i had to use a scrub to get most of it off.
The next night i decided to do my tan again in hope that it would go darker, but i mixed it with moisuriser to apply to my face.
I had a shower again the next morning and although the color was darker i had a greenish tint to it and my face wasnt really that colored at all.
This tanner would be ok for someone who maybe wants a slight hint of color, for example if you're really fair and dont suit a darker tan, and if you're going to apply it to your face i'd definitley mix it with moisturiser first.
I wouldn't personally buy this again as i prefer a darker tan and for the price you pay for this i expected to be "bronze" as it says on the bottle!
I also did not like the greenish tint after 2 applications so if id have put any more on i wonder what color i would have ended up.
All in all i was disappointed with this product as all the problems i would have expected to come with a cheap fake tan!!
St Tropez is still the best of the fake tans! I have tried many and find I get streaks with all but St Tropez. The difference I'm sure is the guide colour. The first time I used St Tropez I looked at the colour of the product and thought that would be the colour of the tan, if so it wasn't going to be pretty, but it's just a dye they helpfully add so you can see which areas of your body you've applied the product to and which you've missed. I would say if you're a first time tanner use the cream version not the mousse as the mousse dries very quickly so unless you know what you're doing you could end up with very dark hands! Once applied St Tropez develops a dry mud texture that you can buff off or leave, I left it on, slept in PJ's but it doesn't seem to stain clothing anyway but if you wanted to go straight out in public you would want to buff this off as it is obvious. For the best results do this last thing and let it develop overnight, shower the muddy stuff off in the morning and admire the gorgeous golden brown tan left behind. I was thrilled and couldn't stop looking at my skin! I've never had a tan before as I'm very fair and don't tan naturally so this was wonderful and not too dark or orange either. Many new products may come on the market but none of them beat St Tropez.
searching for so many fake tans i came across st. tropez tanning mousse which to my delight is absolutely fantastic. you just need 2 pop on gloves and start applying. this product glides easily on your skin and shows you exactly where you are applying to avoid any streaking or missed patches. with the help of another person it is easier to do as you cannot reach certain places on your body yourself i.e. your back. this product doesnt take long to dry but i always give it a helping hand using my hairdrier. if you are unfortunate to get this fake tan on your clothes, carpet etc then it is easily washed off. the initial colour you get from the product is very natural and even if you wish to apply more on top it does not go orange. it lasts up to 7 days without going patchy of fading like alot of fake tans. i would advise anyone who uses fake tan to use this st. tropez as i find it totally faultless.
I have been using this product for quite a while now and I absolutely love it! It surpasses all the other fake tans on the market although one I cannot include in this is the Fake Bake as I haven't used that one.
St Tropez mousse goes on well and you can see where you are putting it and how to avoid any streaking. With other fake tans, I have applied it and then have woken up in the morning to find loads of streaks on my body and an orange colour to my skin. With the St Tropez, it produces a natural looking bronzed tan and you can apply it as many times as you want to achieve the colour you want. In other words it seems to be a gradual tan rather than just a tangoed affect- I don't know about you but I would much prefer it to look au naturelle haha!
It dries almost instantly, although I would advise you not to dress straight away and avoid deodorant, just incase. Also the advantage of St Tropez is that if you cover every part of your body in it, you will never get streaks as it only has one level of colour in the bottle and it is completely oil-free.
I apply it on my body and face every few days to achieve the look I want. The prices vary depending on which product you buy but I think it's well worth the money. Remember to exfoliate and moisturise beforehand aswell!! :)
