I bought this product if I am honest because of the way the packaging looked. It was in a compact case which is always great as it fits easily into my make up bag as it is quite thin. It also has a very golden bronze colour to it and so because of this, it really makes you believe that this product will help give you that sun kissed glow your after. The case is simple to open and you'll find inside the bronzing powder which has a very nice golden shimmer to it and a mirrow so that you can see yourself when applying. One thing about this mirror is that as it sits directly on top of the powder I found when using it, it would sometimes be dusty and smeared which isnt great.
Applying the powder is simple and easy I have always used a big brush as it makes it smoother to apply and a lot more even. The powder blends quite niceley however I have to admit I wasnt a fan of the colour it created. While in the compact it does look very golden as son as it touched my skin it gave me an orangey colour, which wasnt what I wanted as it looked very unatural.
I have used this a few times but only when my other bronzer runs out and I have no choice. The only plus side of it is that it stays on for a long time and only ever really have to touch up once a day, which for a bronzer I find good. However you might not want it to last that long if its turned you orange. Which brings me to another good point that it comes off extremeley easy and with no hassle!
Overall Ive bought it so I'll try and use it, however dont make the same mistake as me and leave well alone!
Nothing pulls my complexion down more than looking pasty and pale. As an olive skinned girl, if I've not been on holiday for a while, the lack of a tan really starts to make me look tired, so bronzer is one of my favourite tricks to perk me up a bit. However, I have real trouble finding the right bronzer as it's one piece of make-up I am very particular about - most are too sparkly, some are too orange, Benefit's Hoola sounded great as it was more brown toned, but ultimately just made me look a bit dirty if I applied the slightest bit too much. I'm yet to find my perfect bronzer and sadly after trying Stila's Sun Bronzer my search will need to continue.
The bronzer comes in a cute little compact, bronze in colour with a sun embossed on the lid and a mirror inside. Like most Stila products the packaging is cute and stylish and very practical - I love compacts as they are so easy to carry around with you in your handbag without worrying about spillages. It also has an SPF 15 which in my opinion is a great addition to any product. You'll need a big brush to apply it, just sweep it across the surface and you'll pick up enough to do both cheeks. I like to apply bronzer across my cheekbones, nose and chin, just to highlight those areas that would catch the sun naturally. It's very soft and does go on very smoothly but doesn't have the silky feel on the skin that I've found with some other bronzers that I've been more impressed with. It is easy to blend in well though - the trick is not to use too much, a little really does go a really long way. The colour is a warm matte brown with just a hint of shimmer. The shimmer in it is really nice on application - enough to lift your complexion but not enough to even come close to being glittery. I find that the staying power of this isn't great - if I apply in the morning then by lunchtime most of it seems to have disappeared, which isn't very impressive for a product in this price range.
However, my big problem with this product is that the colour is way too orange for my skin tone - this is really for fair skinned girls due to the orange tone in it. Apply the slightest bit too much and suddenly I'm looking back in the mirror at a tangerine! I will continue to use this until my current one is finished, as with careful application I can tone down the orange in it and make this work for me, but really I'm not a fan of this one. It does come in 2 shades - no.1 and no.2 - I have no.2 as no.1 is supposedly for fair skinned people, so I don't really know where Stila think my skin fits in! This is another to add to my short list of disappointing products from Stila.
I got this as part of a gift set called The Gift of Glow, but when bought separately it costs £18 from www.hqhair.com.
