Tesco Value Aftersun Lotion
Advantages: Cheap, Moisturises
Disadvantages: Needs applied a couple of times and just not very nice to use
Even though I am always very careful to wear sunscreen when I am in the sun I can still end up getting a little bit too much sun which can leave my skin feeling a little stingy and dry so I use some aftersun to take some of the heat from it and put some moisture back in.
I am not sure what possessed me to buy Tesco value aftersun but I ended up getting a bottle last summer. I usually like to spend a little bit more of aftersun but at the end of the day it is basically just a moisturiser so why spend a fortune on it right.
The Tesco value aftersun can be bought dirt cheap for less than £1 for a big 400ml bottle. There is nothing fancy about the packaging as it just comes in a big white bottle with the Tesco branding on it.
This did exactly what it was supposed to which is to put moisture back in my skin and take the sting out of it. As with all aftersuns it works better if you leave it in the fridge before applying. You apply it after being in the sun to help stop peeling etc. It did moisturise my skin and leave it feeling more comfortable but it just wasn't a very nice aftersun to actually use.
The cream was thin and runny and it wasn't very nice to apply as it is the kind of cream that gets absolutely everywhere when applying it. It is also not very rich so it doesn't moisturise as well as some creams do and to be honest you would probably be better with some thicker body cream than this. It did soak in to my skin quickly which was a plus point and as I have very dry skin anyway I had to apply it a few times to feel like my skin was adequately moisturised.
It did work to help put some moisture back in my skin and I didn't peel or anything but I wouldn't buy this again as I just didn't like it very much and there are much nicer aftersuns on the market which do a better job and feel nicer to use. Of course they are also more expensive so if you are on a tight budget then this will do the job but if you can afford to spend a little more money on a better one then I personally would.
Summary: Good if you are on a tight budget but buy something else if you can afford it
