New Look Square Sunglasses
by brady58
I love sunglasses and you can pick up some really nice ones on the high street for a fraction of what you would for a designer pair. Obviously they aren't going to be such a good quality as designer ones but for a nice looking pair that will protect your eyes that you can put in your car glove box or hand bag without worrying about ... getting them scratched or damaged they are great.
I deliberately picked up some sunglasses in the end of summer sale around town and these ones from New Look were a pair that I bought.
They are made of plastic with plastic lenses and for the £2 which I got them for in the sale they are great.
They have that bug eye look which is really fashionable and they also have all the safety they need by law to protect your eyes so they aren't just a fashion statement. They do look good however and I really like the fact that they are big and hide my eyes on days when I'm not feeling my freshest.
I always like to wear sunglasses even in winter if the sun is out as although it might be cold the sun can be glaringly hot and bright and still hurts my eyes. The lenses in these ones are dark enough so that for the most part I can see ok to drive without having to squint and the fact that they are large also helps to stop the sun from creeping in around the edges. The bigness of them also makes sure that the delicate skin around my eye is protected from the UV rays stopping helping prevent it from premature aging.
These are great sunglasses for the price. They look good and they really do protect my eyes. This is the time to be buying them too when the sales are on and they are so cheap. They are a classic enough shape that you can buy them now and even if we don't get another sunny day this winter you can be sure that they will still be fashionable enough to wear next summer. Mantaray Brown and Pink Sunglasses
by InchyInchy
Mantaray Brown and Pink sunglasses
More or less every year I like to treat myself to a new pair of sunglasses, usually because the last pair has been put through their paces. And because I do buy new sunglasses on a yearly basis I don't want them to be overly pricey, but I do like them to be relatively trendy. When I saw the ... Mantaray brown and pink sunglasses it was love at first sight.
---The Shelf Appeal ---
With these sunglasses what first caught my attention was the cute flower detailing (in pink) along the brown legs. The detailing is simple, cute and just girlie enough. I also love the cut out circle section of diamantes on the edge of the legs next to the glasses that look great and add just the right amount of sparkle. Because lets face it you should never be without a bit of bling.
Personally I like my sunglasses to be quite dark, not ridiculously dark, but I do sometimes suffer from a bit of light sensitivity whenever I have a headache and some of the lighter shading of certain sunglasses just doesn't cut it. If I had to describe the colour of the sunglasses I would say that these are somewhere towards the middle-end of the shade scale. They are of course UV protected and up to all the usual standards that we would expect of sunglasses bought in the UK.
The sunglasses do come with a rather cute pink fabric bag like container.
--- The Fit ---
This year when shopping for sunglasses, the main criteria I had (as always) was I wanted something that would suit my face, which is much easier said than done. After trying on what felt like pair after pair I finally found the Mantaray Brown and Pink sunglasses that had a snug fit and a shape that I felt suited my face. The fit of sunglasses is such a personal thing, but if you like the look of these then I do definitely recommend trying them on for yourself.
I have been wearing these sunglasses pretty much constantly (weather permitting) for a couple of months now and they still fit just as well. In fact these sunglasses have actually been used, thrown in a bag and dragged all over the place and they just don't look like it, they still look nearly as good as new.
--- Overall ---
The availability of these is pretty good, I'm not sure where else you can buy Mantaray products other than Debenhams but even if there isn't a Debenhams near you it is still possible to buy these sunglasses online.
Originally the price of these sunglasses was £30, but at the moment Debenhams (as of date of review) has a twenty percent sale on making these fabulous sunglasses a real bargain. Even at full price these sunglasses in my opinion are with every penny and I love mine, I only wish we had some more sunny days to wear them on!
I've owned these Mantaray sunglasses for nearly two months now and I love them now as much as I did the day I bought them.

Hello Kitty Sunglasses
by kama0529
I bought my youngest daughter a pair of Hello Sunglasses because she loves Hello Kitty and she has T-shirts, bags, pencil cases, badges etc that attests to this fact! I know there are many Hello Kitty sunglasses to choose from, but the ones I bought were made by George at Asda - and therefore it was within a decent price range. The ... glasses cost me just £4.00 direct from Asda Direct (www.direct.asda.com) and I thought this was a very good price, especially when compared to Hello Kitty glasses from other sources.
The frames of the sunglasses are white and made from a plastic. The frames are bare white except for a cute little Hello Kitty design on the proximal part of the arm. This little Hello Kitty design is typical for this brand and it is well printed. The frames feel robust and that they wouldn't be easily bent, although the actual attachment of the arms to the lens frames also feels like they are well secured and that they will not be prone to snapping or falling apart. The arms are somewhat contoured to fit the side of the head well - and they do seem to fit well without any discomfort. I would prefer it if the were contoured to curve around the ears - and my daughter does find they slip off occasionally because of this - but not having these contours is not a deal breaker.
The lenses are a dark grey and so they are well tinted and do protect the eyes from the sunlight. In terms of design, the left lens has Hello Kitty written in white lettering in the far left hand upper corner of the lens, but this does not get into the field of vision at all and so it is not annoying. The lenses protect the eyes completely against UV rays, and because the glasses have fairly thick frames that bend around the eyes, there is no stray light able to sneak in. However, one of the lenses does now have a scratch on them and so they are not scratch - proof and so for little kids this may be an issue.
My daughter seems to enjoy wearing these, and as soon as there isn an excuse to put them on, then on they go. Unfortunately they do not come in a case or bag to protect them, but I do know you can buy Hello Kitty glasses case if you so wish. Read the complete review |
