“ Manufacturer: New Look / Type: Sunglasses „
I bought these sunglasses from New Look, they were a bargain at £2.99. I bought them because I like this shape of sunglasses and needed a new pair, the price of sunglasses in New Look varies, these were the cheapest ones I saw. I am always breaking or losing my sunglasses so I would never want to pay much for them. I have bought a similar pair in Primark for £1 but I find that sometimes the very cheap pairs don't sit right on my face.
These have thick black plastic rims and arms which go thinner at the ends. The lenses are black plastic and squared, these sunglasses are quite big which I like because they cover more around the eyes and don't let the sun in. I also like the look of the square shape and it suits a lot of people.
On the front of one of the lenses was a sticker saying that these protect from UV rays which is important in a pair of sunglasses especially because when you are wearing sunglasses, your pupil opens more and allows more light in. This means that wearing sunglasses with no UV protection can actually do more harm than not wearing them.
I wear this pair of sunglasses very often and they have turned out to be great value for money. They aren't as flimsy as some £1 pairs but they're lightweight and good quality. The lenses have started to get a bit scratched which will happen if you don't keep them in a case but they have lasted me well and were great value at £2.99. These don't come with a pouch or case but keeping them in one would be a good idea to stop them getting scratched.
I would recommend these because they are a bargain, they look good and they are good quality for the price. They have lasted me a long time and they protect from UV rays. Similar pairs are available in different colours in New Look.
I love sunglasses and you can pick up some really nice ones on the high street for a fraction of what you would for a designer pair. Obviously they aren't going to be such a good quality as designer ones but for a nice looking pair that will protect your eyes that you can put in your car glove box or hand bag without worrying about getting them scratched or damaged they are great.
I deliberately picked up some sunglasses in the end of summer sale around town and these ones from New Look were a pair that I bought.
They are made of plastic with plastic lenses and for the £2 which I got them for in the sale they are great.
They have that bug eye look which is really fashionable and they also have all the safety they need by law to protect your eyes so they aren't just a fashion statement. They do look good however and I really like the fact that they are big and hide my eyes on days when I'm not feeling my freshest.
I always like to wear sunglasses even in winter if the sun is out as although it might be cold the sun can be glaringly hot and bright and still hurts my eyes. The lenses in these ones are dark enough so that for the most part I can see ok to drive without having to squint and the fact that they are large also helps to stop the sun from creeping in around the edges. The bigness of them also makes sure that the delicate skin around my eye is protected from the UV rays stopping helping prevent it from premature aging.
These are great sunglasses for the price. They look good and they really do protect my eyes. This is the time to be buying them too when the sales are on and they are so cheap. They are a classic enough shape that you can buy them now and even if we don't get another sunny day this winter you can be sure that they will still be fashionable enough to wear next summer.
I wear sunglasses all the time. I mean ALL the time. Well, not at night..I'm not one of those poser types! But I don't like to have the sun in my eyes at all, so whether I'm going for a walk, driving, shopping or even swimming in an outdoor pool, I always always have to have my sunglasses. And of course - they're vital holiday kit.
Being that I practically live in my sunglasses I'd probably get a decent cost per wear out of a designer pair, and believe me, I'd love a pair of Chanel or D&G Sunglasses. But for one thing I just can't justify the cost (I mean...over £100 for a pair of plastic specs..do me a favour) and I'm actually quite forgetful and clumsy, and I would probably sit right on them, no matter how much they cost.
My forgetful and clumsiness is the very reason I own these New Look Square Sunglasses. I had forgotten to bring my regular pair shopping and the sun was blaring. So I decided to by a cheap second pair to keep in the car (I've done that a few times so I now have four pairs and counting, haha!). I bought these in New Look in the sale for £2, which I think is fair enough, you can hardly go wrong at that price. Mine are black with black lenses (the picture makes them look a bit purple but they're not, they're a graduated black). Importantly for me they are UV400 which makes them decent sunglasses and not just a fashion statement.
That said, they do look good, I favour the big, bug-eye sunglasses because they suit my face, they cover the whole of your eyes and stop you from squinting and protect your crows line area and delicate eye tissue from the sun's rays. All of my styles are this type.
These New Look ones are plastic, lightweight, and for the money they're great. Many people have asked me where I got them from believing them to cost far more than they did. Let's face it, even high end glasses are generally just plastic so they don't look cheap in that respect.
They don't come with a case which could be seen as a downside but hey for £2 I'm not complaining. When they're not on my face they're in the bottom of my handbag or in my glove box, OK they do get a bit scuffed with my keys etc but if that bothers you then you can buy a case from Poundland should you wish.
So to summarise - these glasses are fab and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from New Look again. My favourite sunglasses actually came from Pound World so I clearly am not a label slave :) I highly recommend you take a look at their range including these fab square sunglasses in black for an affordable, fashionable and well made pair of sunglasses you're not scared to actually wear - with that all important UV protection.
~ New Look Square Sunglasses ~
Well, it seems we may have had our summer! But during those sunny two weeks I bought these sunglasses from New Look for the bargain price of £2.99!
Whilst New Look has quite a good range of sunglasses I chose these simply based on the price. I wasn't really looking to buy anything in particular and was more or less browsing when I spotted these and at the bargain price I just had to get them.
I did need a new pair anyway as my son lost mine on hoildays last year!
These are a very fashionable pair of sunnies with large square shaped lenses, the lenses are slightly rounded on the edges so not to be too square. The lenses are surrounded by a black plastic frame which is quite thick but trendy and modern looking. The arms either side are hinged as you would expect and taper from thick to slighty thinner at the end part where they go over your ear.
The lenses are quite dark with a slight fade going from dark to slighty lighter at the bottom.
I often suffer with headaches in the sunny weather but whilst wearing these I found that I was fine.
I wore them numerous times, from driving to playing in the park with the children and also whilst just sunning myself in the garden so they are a very verstile pair of sunglasses.
I found them very comfortable to wear and so far they haven't suffered with any scratches after being simply dropped into my bag, however I expect if I keep doing this they may just end up scratched!
Unlike other cheap pairs I have bought in the past the arms/hinges on these have stayed quite sturdy so that the arms don't just flop about.
If your anything like me and misplace things quite often or break things! Then spending lots on a pair of sunglasses may seem a little silly, so that is why I think these are an absolute bargain. Okay they may not be a make and have a name on the side but none the less they are a trendy pair of sunglasses.
I have never had any problems with items I have bought from New Look in the past and I can't see these being any different.
I have worn them whilst wearing leggings and a vest, shorts and t shirt/vest, maxi-dress, playsuit, so they are versatile and trendy enough to be worn for any occasion.
They can be purchased in New Look stores or online at www.newlook.com and cost £2.99.
Overall I have found these a brilliant bargain pair of sunnies that I am sure will last me a good while yet.
Because I wear prescription glasses most of the time I have a couple of pairs of prescription sunglasses which I have to take very good care of because they cost so much to have made! This annoys me greatly and also limits choice of design because until very recently you could not have presctription lenses put into anything but the most boring of sunglasses frames.
This means that when I wear my contact lenses and can get away with wearing normal, trendy, bigger framed sunglasses I tend to get rather excited and buy lots, especially when they are cheap! I bought this pair the other week when I was in the centre of Birmingham on business and the weather had achieved that rare feat of being sunny (unexpectedly). Having decided that we would have lunch outside and because I had my lenses in I knew that a cheap pair of sunnies was the order of the day and New Look did not fail to provide.
In fact they had quite an impressive range of plastic framed, fashionable glasses for less than a fiver, this pair were the princely sum of £2.99. The lenses are slightly squared in shape and larger than a standard pair, this is deliberate as the fashion is towards larger frames at the moment. The handles are tapered to be thinner at the ends and quite wide where they meet the lenses, again this is quite fashionable.
Mine had a small sticker stuck to one of the lenses declaring that they are suitable protection from UV rays which is an absolute must in order to protect your eyes, I think it would be very rare these days to be able to find a pair of sunglasses which did not meet this criteria.
The only problem I had with these glasses is that they do seem to rub my ears as the edges of the handles are fairly blunt and not rounded. This is only an issue when wearing them for a sustained period of time and therefore does not bother me too much as it is rare I would spend more than an hour at a time outside in the sun.
For me these will be a spare pair of non-prescription glasses to keep in my work bag, they did not come with a pouch or sleeve of any kind and therefore I have put them in an old one I had (the benefit of years of wearing glasses!). I would advise that you do this otherwise the lenses will get scratched and they will no longer be usable.
For £2.99 you cannot go wrong with these!
After a recent browse in New Look I came across the Sunglasses stand and decided to buy some just simply because the weather is getting hot - sun out and I have my windows down in my car blaring my music and I need to look good while I'm singing along to my tunes!
I never make a habit of spending too much on sunglasses because
1. I am forever losing them round my house
2. I have been known to damage them mostly by accidently sitting on them
3. My mum convienantly "borrows them
New Look are great for picking up cheap things like sunglasses - fair enough they will not last forever but for a clutz like me, its the best place to get them!
Like the image the overall frame of the glasses are black and the visual part is kind of square - but to me they are the oversized glasses you see that cover half your face! The visual part of the frame that you look out of shows as a blue tiny in the image but in person its actually a brown tint.
You can see very well through the glasses, but I am a bit strange in the sense I don't like people to see my eyes through them as I can look very strange wearing sunglasses where you can see my eyes right through them. I have been told by many people you can't with these which I love.
The parts of the glasses that curve and tuck round your ears are very long and don't actually fit my face as well as they could but if you have a particually long head this will not be a problem for you :-)
I'm shocked to say as well as looking quite strong and tough they actually are! They are not flimsy in the slightest... have never given the indication of falling to bits in the weeks I have had them... I think if you look after them you could end up keeping this for a good few months at least.
To me, New Look is a great place for sunglasses if you like to wear lots of different styles - you can do this here because your not spending as much on each set!
I personally love this style that covers your face - makes you feel like a WAG!
The only thing that lets it down for me as previously mentioned is the fact that they don't fit perfectly like more expensive glasses do around the side of your head and your ears but it is barable.
As previously mentioned these are not feeble nasty cheap glasses and I think they have the ability to last you a long time. Would recommend to all.
Price & availability
I live in the lake district and we are known for having next to no shops and the shops we do have are tiny - including our new look - but it has a decent size sunglasses display where I found these. They have a wide range of glasses and many other styles.
This particular set cost me just £2.99 - bargain! As well as purchasing in store, these glasses are currently available on the website for the same price with P+P added on top, although if you order more things and it comes to £20 or more they will deliver free of charge to your local store.
