Oakley are the leaders in sunglasses' design and the have yet another perfect product in their Half Jackets. Why are they so good? Because they create stunning products that are aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to wear. The Half Jackets look awesome, the matted grey version look great and don't have the cheap tacky holiday look that so many glossy imitations have when you're going along the promenade and glance into the various £1 stores littering the place. They lie on the bridge of your nose and you could be forgiven for not even realising they were there if not for the shaded tint now covering your eyes. The rubber covering the bridge is neither obtrusive (as in you cannot see it out of the corner of your eyes, a pet hate with sunglasses') or painful and will not leave you with giant red marks even if you wear them for most of the day. The lenses are crystal clear as if they were made by Zeiss themselves. Made by Oakley or Luxxotica they are both hard wearing and easy to see through. Another issue so many cheap sunglasses' pose is the ability to give the wearer headaches especially when wearing alongside contact lenses. Oakley never suffer from this problem. Half Jackets are also very hard-wearing. The lenses despite being almost as thin as a sheet of paper will withstand sandstorms, gravel, general scratching and as reported on a few years ago will happily take a grenade fragment, although I would recommend alternative eyewear in such a situation. The arms will also take a severe beating being bent back and forth and form personal experience sat on numerous times, and still they wear like they are still brand new. The pair I bought where a little big for my face and yet the still gripped my head perfectly, the arms sat over my ears nicely and I never worried about them falling forwards or lifting of my nose. I used to wear them whilst playing cricket and in the past had issues with sunglasses bouncing all over my nose while chasing a stray ball, no such issue with these sunglasses. Value for money wise these truly are worth every penny. Why go through spending £5 every holiday on a new pair of glasses' that will break long before you fly home when you can get these for around £60 and they will last you decades. Overall they are great pair of sunglasses; they will withstand most anything both from the user and the elements. They look great and put the cheap tack seen around to shame, but I guarantee if you buy a set you'll proudly wear them on your head. I even see people wear them at night, although it still baffles as to why.
It has to be said Oakley sunglasses are the world leader in their field plus Oakley make some other great products (mainly military), Well these are the first expensive pair of sunglasses I've bought to date and are incredible. I made my mind up based upon clarity of the lens, durability and built in eye protection. First off the pair I bought are Standard Issue and are issued to US Military Personnel plus I also bought a case and neck round the back holder thing. I do a bit of airsoft and obviously go around in the sun, the main reason for purchasing sunglasses in the depths of winter was the low sun which was a real problem when we had the icy weather and little cloud in the way to block it out. I also use these when mountain biking and have saved my eyes many a time from grit and branches plus a quick rinse under water and they are clean as a whistle, ready to fight another day. In terms of being durable they certainly are. They are bullet-resistant in terms of being shot by a shotgun and I have heard reports that they'll take a 9mm hand-gun round at relatively close proximity but I don't chance it. I do use them for airsoft and they are very good for this, the lenses stay in. I'm not going to be in a military situation when a bullet may strike my eye or something but it's nice to know if I drop them they won't break so readily. They are very clear and seem to remain clear even with fingerprint smudges on them. The lenses are very expensive so I will, for the moment at least, be keeping the standard ones that came with the sunglasses. Overall (as with all things Oakley) a brilliant pair of sunglasses, perfect for airsoft, perfect for driving, perfect for mountain biking and, of course, perfect for everyday use. They won't break on you and they stay on your face very well.
I purchased the Oakley Half Jacket sunglasses whilst on holiday in America. I have always purchased Oakley products when it comes to eye protection as they never fail to produce high quality software. The Oakley Half Jacket's are no exception to this. The Half Jacket is the first dual-lens sunglasses with interchangeable lenses manufactured by Oakley. Oakley Half Jackets have been designed for the high-octane lifestyles of sporty and active customers. The glasses have very secure fittings which hug the nose and behind your ears. As well as being very securely fitted sunglasses, they are also incredibly comfortable meaning after a few minutes of wearing them, you almost forget all about them which is very important when you are moving quickly from place to place. With the iridium coated and tinted lenses, not only are you 100 percent protected against any nasty UV light, glare is reflected and the contrast around you is increased. The interchangeable lenses mean that no matter what the light conditions are, there will be a lens suitable! Moving away from the technical side of things, the Oakley Half Jackets look extremely stylish and with the good colour range, you will find your "perfect partner"! Although these sunglasses are retailed at around about £100, the quality, comfort and protection that they offer are well worth the price tag!
