See no evil
I've worn glasses all my adult life. I tried contacts for martial arts, but never got used to them. While back I needed some new glasses. My prescription had changed a little, and I had my eye on some memory metal frames for my main specs. There was an offer on at Boots at the time which meant that I could order a second pair of prescription sunglasses at no extra cost for the frame.
You eyeballin' me, boy?
I soon settled on a pair of Police frames. They looked cool. Not too ray-ban-ish with the smaller, tighter lenses that tend to be typical of Police as a brand. They look less as if you're in charge of a chain gang, or getting ready to ride Maverick's tail (fnar fnar) and more as if you should be wearing a long coat and looking out for Agent Smith. Not too shabby, at all.
The construction of the frames is of a dark, high-quality formed plastic that holds the prescription lenses well. Not willing to drop even more cash, I didn't opt for the thinner lenses, so they're not that comfortable on the bridge of the nose by comparison with my main pair. But they're hardly going to be used to anywhere near the same level.
I chose a graduated black tint that works very well when matched with the frame. The other coloured options are grey and brown. There are different levels of tint to be chosen, or you can opt for a single uniform tint across the entire lens.
Another nice aspect of the sunglasses is that they transition. The level of tint further changes in terms of the light hitting them. In dark surroundings, they lighten. Not to the point that anyone would be unaware you were wearing sunglasses, but enough to see clearly with. In harsh glare, they darken up. The ultraviolet protection is the same in any condition and will help me avoid that Clint Eastwood look.
Cool as an antartic cucumber
In summary, I can highly recommend this frame. There are sufficient customisation options whether you have prescription lenses in them or not. They cost around £170, unless you can get a deal. I suggest you wait for a deal! These come with a Police soft case that don't offer much protection.
