~Sleek style from Roberto Cavalli~
My simple, understated black Atamante sunglasses from designer Roberto Cavalli have a sleek and stylish snug fitting look to them that I feel goes with a range of moods and occasions. The deep and dark brooding look of these sunglasses were what drew me to them in the first instance, as I feel they give the female wearer plenty of style with just a hint of the mysterious, whilst never being too over the top. Having had a pair of these sunglasses in my collection since last year (with them having been worn a good number of times), I am of the opinion that they are strong and durable, well styled and have good quality set of crisp grey toned lenses fitted to them.
I feel that the appeal of these sunglasses is in part due their strong sleek black frame colour that goes with so many looks (although they also come in a deep chocolate brown as far as I know). These sunglasses are very striking in the first instance as they have a classic look to them that is nicely complimented by the softly textured design that runs along each side of the frame arms. The simple silver metal trim ends that have been fitted to the front of each arm are complimented by grey toned lenses that have a smooth dark to light coloured gradient to them, which in my opinion makes them suited to brighter sunnier days.
~Wearing/ using/ caring for the sunglasses~
The sunglasses are Italian made, which I feel gives them an extra air of quality and finish. They come with their own Roberto Cavalli case and cleaning cloth so that they can be protected when not in use and cleaned using the correct type of cleaning/ polishing cloth as and when needed. I have made good use of the cleaning cloth as I find that I often have to clean these sunglasses both during and after wear. These sunglasses are very dark in finish and tend to show smears from make up etc on the parts of the frame that make contact with my skin, meaning that they can need a quick polish over from time to time. Make up can end up showing on some areas of the sunglasses more than others, especially around the bridge area where the sunglasses meet the nose and whilst this cannot be seen from the front of the glasses, it does need cleaning off after wear and before you put the glasses away.
I have had other pairs of Roberto Cavalli sunglasses and found that this brand of eye wear tend to be very easy to spot as there are often design trends which are repeated year after year. This particular Atamante range has made use of a slightly more understated pattern and more minimal detailing than some Cavalli designs have which I feel makes them stand out well. The simple textured pattern used on the strong dark toned frame arms is well executed in my opinion and I feel this creates just as much interest as some of the glitzier Cavalli styles without being overly blingy. The cut and style of the Atamante frame is very close fitting to the face in my opinion, meaning that it tends to sit close to the eyes and hugs the face in a similar way to many wrap around style sunglasses.
Whilst this face hugging fit looks very stylish I feel that for those who prefer a less snug fit and feel, there are other more open feeling sunglasses options from the Cavalli range which may be a more suitable choice. I find that I have to be in the right mood to wear these some times as they do tend to give you a very secluded and almost protected feel when you are wearing them. I also feel that the combination of a super close fit, plus the darker frame and graduated grey lens tone does work best on very bright and sunny days. I wouldn't recommend wearing these on darker days, even though the lenses are clear enough to be worn, as the over all look of the sunglasses and their grey lens tone does make them more suited to fair weather.
~Price and product rating~
The cost of these sunglasses does vary depending on where you buy them, however a fair price band would be from £160 to £180 for a pair of sunglasses from this range in either the black or brown colour options. The lens width of this style is roughly 67mm, with a snug fitting bridge width of around 12mm, a temple length no more than 115mm and a total width of 135mm. The strong black plastic frames hold nice clear plastic grey toned lenses which give a 100% level of UV protection during wear and I feel the lenses offer the wearer a nice crisp view.
If worn and handled with care there is no reason why you shouldn't get many years of wear from these stylish sunglasses in my opinion. I find everything about these sunglasses is well made, with the frames and lenses being light weight and easy to clean. The glasses fit snugly at the bridge of the nose and also fit closely to the face which can take some time to get used to. I feel that whilst I enjoy wearing these sunglasses this super snug wrap around effect may not be as comfortable to some wearers as it may be to others and won't suit those who tend to buy just one pair of sunglasses to go with all styles, moods and weather scenarios.
I suggested these sunglasses as a review subject for Dooyoo as I feel they are well made and stylish to wear. Based on my experience I would like to give them a 4 star product rating taking in to consideration how they have performed during wear etc. I wear sunglasses all year round as and when the mood takes me and I have worn these particular sunglasses even on colder mainly sunny days in spring and autumn and found they work well. I also find them very easy to care for.
