“ Brand: Asda / Type: Candy „
Asda sells a reasonable selection of children's sweets for great prices and these cheeky monkeys are without a doubt are my favourite Asda branded fruit gums. They have a great range of sweets to choose from and are all great value at only 38p a bag or 3 bags for a pound.
Although they are no Haribo, the daddy of all sweets, they are very close in my opinion and you get much more for your money.
These sweets are fruit flavoured gums and are very juicy and dare I say it fruity. You shall also be pleased to know that they do not contain any real monkeys but instead these much more comical versions of a traditional sweet.
They also stand out on the shelf as they are in an attractive fluorescent green bag with images of friendly monkeys scattered around the package which make them appeal to children. They very clearly state all the ingredients on the back of the pack as well as showing a lot of helpful information such as calorie consumption and size of pack etc.
I am determined to review all of Asda's children's sweets and so whenever I fancy a bag these are exactly what I reach for. The most recent bag I have eaten is that containing Asda Cheeky Monkey, which I would once again highly recommend.
The Cheeky Monkeys cost 38p a bag, but once again can be bought on offer 3 bags for £1 making them even better value for money. The bag is a very bright and fun green making it appealing to children (and me) it contains the words Cheeky Monkeys in bright-multicoloured lettering and has a quite cute although strange looking monkey peering over the top. The front also tells me that the sweets contain no artificial colours or flavours and the back contains all the nutritional information necessary.
When you open the bag a sweet fruity scent greets you and makes you want to delve head first into the bag. The sweets themselves on appearance also look appetising and are shaped like the face of a monkey with two jelly pieces for their ears. The pack I ate contained 11 monkeys, which is a reasonable amount. 3 of the monkeys had red ears, 4 had green ears and 4 had yellow ears. The ears therefore taste respectively of strawberry/raspberry, lime and orange. The main of the monkeys face is made of a soft foam type substance and taste very refreshingly of pineapple. All parts of the sweet are chewy but not tough making them brilliant for young children.

Unfortunately these sweets are not suitable for vegetarians but if you're not a vegetarian then I would highly recommend these sweets to you. They are delicious, refreshing a most of all not too damaging to your health. The bag size is perfect for slipping into a handbag or a coat pocket and because there are not too many sweets in a bag they are great for giving to children as a treat. All in all therefore I can't think of a single reason why your next trip to Asda shouldn't result in the purchase of at least one bag of these yummy sweets.
Does not contain monkeys.
