      Don't bother

I bought these sweets in a 3 for £1 offer at Asda but you can buy them inidividually for 37p. The packaging is pink and red with orange writing and a drawing of a monkey on it holding one of these fizzy wands as a bat. There is a clear section of plastic on the front that shows the sweets too.

The front of the packaging clearly states that these sweets are not suitable for vegetarians but they are free from artificial colours and flavourings. Each 70g pack contains 259.7kcal, 2.1g of protein, 51.8g of carbohydrates and 0.7g of fat. I was quite surprised by the low fat content in these.

When I opened the packet, the smell of fruitiness was really strong. There were 20 wands in the pack that I bought. I would not say that these sweets are fizzy, more like just coated in sugar. They do not taste anywhere near as strong as they smell which is a shame. They have a slight strawberry taste, just before you are about to swallow them. The more you eat of them, the more you notice the taste and it is nice, just not strong enough. They were quite chewy though. Overall I was a bit disappointed.

Nice sweets for a right bargain price.

I love chocolate, but I also love my sweets just as much. I came across these sweets when shopping in the Asda next to the cinema I go, rather than pay the extortionate prices for the pick 'n' mix in the cinema foyer!

Asda do lots of different types of sweets in this range, from cola bottles to sherbet spaceships, there's something for everyone. They are 38p a bag, or you can get 3 bags for £1.

I notice DooYoo don't have a picture for these sweets but they're easily noticeable. The packaging is a bright pinky red and green with the bold letters stating Fizzy Strawberry Wands. In the top right corner it tells us that they're free from artificial colours and flavourings and they're suitable for vegetarians.

Now, to be honest these are called 'Strawberry flavoured' but I can't smell or taste too much of a strawberry taste, it's more of a sour taste. It's not an unpleasant taste, just very sweet and sugary. When reading the ingredients these sweets actually contain Apple Juice from Concentrate (11%) and Fruit and Vegetable concentrates [Blackcurrant, Carrot.] THere's actually nothing related to strawberries at all in the ingredients list, so it's no the wonder they don't taste too much of strawberries! However I'm not complaining, as I love these sweets and get addicted to them.

They contain 260 calories per bag, and nil saturated fats. Now of coruse they are very sugary sweets, containing 37.4g of sugar per bag! Bearing in mind the bag as a whole weighs 70g this is just over half. Obviously these are to be had has a once in a while treat, but it's hard to tell myself that sometimes ;)

        Another cracker from Asda

Once again it is a bag of Asda's children's sweets that I am going to review. The bag in particular is Fizzy Strawberry Wands, which like most of the Asda Brand sweets are really, really nice.

The sweets come in a 75g bag and cost 38p but can be bought with any other 2 bags of Asda's sweets in this range for £1, making them even better value for money. The bag in question is quite funky it has a green top and then a purple and pink band around the centre with the words Fizzy Strawberry Wands on it in lime green and white. There is also a picture of one of the strawberry wands on the front as well as some purple sides and the information that the sweets are suitable for vegetarians and are free from artificial colours and flavourings.

The nutritional information for this product is on the back of the packet and is as follows. 100g of the sweets contain...
        Calories - 347 (260.3 in one bag)
        Protein - 0.7g (0.53g in one bag)
        Carbohydrates - 84.5g (63.4g in one bag)
Of which sugars - 49.8g (37.4g in one bag)
        Fat - 0.3g (0.23g in one bag)

OK so they're not magic like my title may suggest and the imaging on the packet but they are lip-smackingly delicious. On opening the bag there is quite a sweet sugary smell as well as a strawberry aroma. This smell is certainly not sickly and definitely inviting. The pack contains 12 strawberry wands, so good value for money, which are red in colour and coated in a fizzy sugar.

The sweets are relatively chewy but not too tough and are extremely fizzy, so are not suited for those who aren't too fond of sour sweets. For me they were brilliant as I really like sweets that are so sour they make your eyes water. These didn't make my eyes water but were still sour enough to make your tongue tingle. The strawberry taste was very apparent from the first bite and remained in your mouth after the sweet had been eaten, which I really enjoyed.

All things considered I think these sweets offer an excellent value for money. The pack size means they can easily be concealed in a handbag or pocket and are perfect for children as the fat content is low and the sugar content in my open acceptable for such a sweet. Better still for you they don't cost a fortune and so will keep most children contented without costing you the earth. Another highly recommended Asda brand sweet.
