Sweet like....... Mushrooms???
Member Name: Lools_24
Advantages: Tasty, chewy , fun
Disadvantages: Sugar content, particularly chewy
I have sampled a fair amount of confectionary from the Asda own brand so was quite surprised when I came across Asda Chewy Mushrooms as this was a new sweet treat for me to sample and of course review on Dooyoo............
The packaging of the chewy mushrooms is brightly coloured but pretty plain in comparison to some of the other confectionary from Asda's range. The bag is bright pink with the Asda brand on the front of the packaging. There is also a plastic cut out window on the front of the packaging so you can see the mushroom sweets inside of the packaging.
Asda Chewy Mushrooms are only available in Asda as they are an own brand sweet. Like the other confectionary from the Asda range these are included in the 3 bags of sweets for £1 offer. If you decide to purchase these sweets as an individual bag they cost 39p for a 75g bag.
***Asda Chewy Mushrooms***
When you open the bag the sweets have a pleasant sweet scent to them. I think the sweets have a vanilla type scent to them.
The Chewy Mushroom sweets are pink and white shaped mushrooms. The sweets are a squishy type foam texture. As soon as you put the sweets in your mouth you immediately are hit with a very sweet taste. Once this initial sugary taste disappears and you chew the sweet you can taste a light raspberry taste. This has a slight tang to it but is still sweet rather than having a sour raspberry taste. I also felt that as I chewed the sweet and swallowed I was left with a hint of vanilla taste in my mouth.
What I did not like about the sweets was just how chewy they were. This does make each sweet last longer but made my jaw hurt as I had to chew quite vigorously through each sweet. The sweets also stuck to my teeth, so for those with fragile teeth it may be worth staying clear of these sweets.
The sweets need to be stored in a cool place (not too cool as the sweets go too hard and even chewier). If the sweets are stored somewhere warm this does make them softer and easier to eat as they are less chewy but the sweets stick together in the bag and you are left with a congealed sticky mess in the bag.
A 75g bag contains
The sweets contain no artificial colours and flavourings.
As a treat these are relatively low calorie and low fat as half a bag of these sweets is a decent sized serving however the sugar content is relatively high. So if you don't like visiting the dentist it is worth not eating too many of these.
Tate wise these are a very pleasant sweet. Not my favourites and I won't be rushing out to purchase another bag immediately, but the sweet lightly raspberry flavoured mushrooms do make a nice treat every now and then. I personally found these a little too chewy and hard and after eating 3 or 4 sweets my jaws started to hurt from chewing so much. I suppose this is a work out for your jaw so makes these are more guilt free treat. Although with the high sugar content I'm sure that dentists would not approve.
Summary: Very chewy foamy mushroom sweets from Asda
