      Buy them

My boss brought these sweets in to work for us for one of our team's birthdays. They were in the 3 for £1 offer at Asda but can be bought individually for 39p. I hate marshmallows so was not looking forward to trying these but I am trying to push myself to try new things.

The packaging is red and white with white hoops on it and white writing. The sweets are described as marshmallows with a strawberry flavoured jelly filling. The sweets are free from artificial colours and flavourings but may contain traces of milk so are not suitable for lactose intolorant people. These sweets are also not suitable for vegetarians.

The bag is 75g in size and a pack of them will give you 264kcals, 2.6g of protein, 63.5g of carbs of which 48.4g are sugars, nil fat, 0.3g of fibre and 0.06g og sodium.

The sweets themselves are white tubes of marshmallow about an inch in length and are filled with a pink jelly. They are quite substantial in size and it took me 2 bites to eat one. When you go to put the sweet into your mouth you can really smell the strawberry jelly. The marshmallows don't really have a taste but they are soft and squidgy like you would expect. The strawberry jelly had a lovely flavour and I was surprised that I actually really liked these. I would buy them for myself too.

      A great tasting sweet

My latest Asda sweets purchase included a bag of Asda Strawberry Jelly Filled Mallows and despite my initial premonitions they were extremely tasty and definitely something I would buy again.

Mallows cost 38p a bag and contain 75g of sweets. Once again however they can be bought on offer 3 bags for £1 making them even better value for money. The bag itself is red and has white ring on the front of it. The words "strawberry jelly filled" are in green and the word "mallows" is in white. The "l's" of the word being shaped like two mallows. The front of the bag also contains the information that the sweets contain no artificial colours or flavours and the back contains all the nutritional information necessary.

On opening the bag you are greeted with a very sweet strawberry scent that really is rather enticing and does make you want to delve right in which after counting the number of mallows in the bag (23) I did. The marshmallows themselves are roughly 4 cm in height and 2m in width.

On biting into the mallows you notice that they are exceptionally soft and coated in a powdery substance like most premium priced marshmallows. At the same time the marshmallow is also rather firm and chewy but not break your teeth chewy. The strawberry jelly centre is much more solid than the marshmallow coating and has a very sweet strawberry taste that contrasts the fluffiness of the marshmallow perfectly. The jelly centre also has a rather liquid texture, which again contrast that of the marshmallow.

Obviously being sweets these aren't going to be the healthiest treat ever but then again if you're looking to treat yourself are you really looking for healthy? Either way once in a while they can't really do any harm and these sweets certainly are a pleasant way to indulge your sweet tooth. Unfortunately the sweets aren't suitable for vegetarians due to a Gelatine content and they also contain milk and so aren't suitable for those who are lactose intolerant.

The sweets have a very decent shelf life of a year although they must be stored in a cool, dry place throughout this period. I doubt however that you will need to store them for this long as they are simply too delicious. So go on give them a try.
