Advantages: price, size
Disadvantages: artificial taste, lots of E numbers, lots of sugar
Nougat is one of my favourite types of confectionery and when I was a child I use to eat Barrat nougat.
It has a pink side and a white side and is coated with rice paper around the edges, it contains some peanut pieces.
the colour makes it appealing to children as does the price. It costs around 38p - 45p so it is affordable to children with pocket money. It is also a rather large bar compared to other packets of sweets and chocolate. Children also like it because of this.
When I came across Barrats nougat fairly recently in my local supermarket I thought I would buy one for my boyfriend and myself.
When we came to eat it we both agreed that the taste had changed from when we were children.
This soft nougat now just tastes of sugar and plastic. It has a very artificial flavour and doesn't resemble nougat at all.
Barrats nougat contains an enormous amount of sugar, colourings and flavourings and lots of E numbers.
If you use to eat this as a child I wouldn't recommend trying it now as you will be disappointed like I was.
Summary: If you used to eat this you will now be disapointed, I was
