I bought these from my local garage while filling up with petrol recently and since I had never tried them before I thought I would try them to see if I liked them or not, I like Cherries and so thought they would probable be to my liking.
They were priced at only 49p for a pack of around 10, they are come in a tube of sweets in a row and each one is individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper to keep them fresh, and they are oval shaped, they are around half an inch, so quite small, they are a burgundy colour, they taste really nice, the taste is apparent the minute they are in the mouth, they have quite a mild cherry taste, not as strong as I first thought they would be, but they are just the right amount of taste for a sweet.
They are not too sweet, the texture of them is a nice one on the tongue and they are easy to suck and swallow, when they have been sucked for a few minutes, I really liked them.
I have a sweet tooth and so I do not mind anything sweet and this one took my little bit of craving away until my meal time, and since I bought them while out and about, they did the job for me.
The taste is a pleasant one and they smell of cherries too, as some sweets do not always smell of the flavour that they are supposed to be, but with this one it does have the smell too.
I think even if you do not even like cherries, this one would be fine because it has not too much of the taste of them and so would be fine.
When I get to the end of sucking a sweet, I always tend to crunch them before swallowing them, I have always done this from being a child and these were easy enough to crunch them by the time I was ready to swallow them.
I think these are a super sweet for when travelling or if you just want a sweet on the go, and I think they are a very good one for if you are going on an aeroplane as I think they would be perfect for that occasion too.
They are made by Bassett's who are a very well known brand of sweets and this one is a very good quality product and very good value for money too.
I recommend these for anyone to give them a go as I think they are a super little sweet, I am pleased I tried them and I rate them 5 stars.
I have been living on quite a strict sugar reduced diet and from time to time it is nice for me to have a little treat. When picking something up in the newsagent recently I spotted these Cherry Drops for 55p and decided that they were just what I needed.
The sweets come provided in a tube and there are around 10 sweets which are individually wrapped in clear wrappers. These feel like more of a treat because they are individually wrapped and I don't have to eat them all in one day just because they are there.
Each sweet is red/pink, not quite as vibrant in colour as a cherry. The sweets are smooth and oval with a large ridge around the edge. They are really designed for sucking as this slowly releases the flavour and they end up lasting me a good ten or fifteen minutes for each sweet. I feel like they are a real treat because they take so long to suck down to nothing and they last far longer than any other sweets I usually buy when having a little treat.
The sweets do have a faintly cherry taste to them but for the most part I could just describe it as a sweet taste that is so yummy it makes my mouth water. The sweet is the perfect shape for sucking and it slowly melts down to nothing and the tiny little bit left at the end is the bit I always end up biting and then it breaks up in to lots of tiny little pieces. The sweetness of this sweet is delicious and it does not have the same flavour as any other sweet I have ever eaten in the past.
I find that the quality of these sweets is fantastic and I am sure that I will continue to enjoy them for lots more years to come. Each tube contains 180 calories, 45.3g of carbohydrates (of which 31.3g sugars) and that's about it. I know this is a lot of sugar but now and again it's nice to have a little sugar boost to give me a bit of much needed energy after a long week at work, even if it is temporary.
While these sweets are not widely available as much as they used to be I have seen them in multi-packs from time to time and available in singular packets in two of my local newsagents.
These sweets are thoroughly enjoyable and weirdly enough I don't like cherries at all! I would definitely recommend these if you are looking for a nice sugary treat as they will certainly give you a little boost. Cherry Drops are fantastic sweets and while they aren't really cherry flavoured they are delicious and I would thoroughly recommend them the next time you are looking for some sweets.
Cherry drops are a hardboiled sweet which are cherry flavoured!
The sweets come in a tubule shape, and wrapped in paper... Cherry drops are easily recognisable by the cherry coloured outer paper packaging. The mix of cherry and black with white text is a simple yet effective and eye grabbing design.
~~~APPEARANCE TASTE AND TEXTURE~~~
Unwrapping the outer paper packaging, each cherry drop is individually wrapped in plastic, and they are pinky red (cherry coloured). They are shiny and smooth on the outside and they are quite hard.
Sucking on it is the best way of eating it in my opinion. The cherry flavour slowly comes out and onto your tongue... it is quite genuine, although has a hint of cough syrup taste... a bit medicinal for some. However, I quite like this difference in flavour. Most sweets are strawberry or blackcurrant in flavour, but to have a sweet that is cherry flavoured is a nice change.
They are difficult to bite into and require you to savour in your mouth for a bit until it becomes smaller, then perhaps chewing is possible. It is really quite hard to bite, so I would not recommend doing so anyway.
They cost around £1 for a multipack and can be bought at most supermarkets. Individual packs can be bought at most convenience stores for less than or around 50p.
I would highly recommend this product to those who have a sweet tooth and like flavours other than boring and typical strawberry, blackcurrant etc. Although to some they may taste a bit medicinal, they are nice, sweet and have a somewhat genuine cherry flavour. The sweet overall is nice to consume and just suck on.
