      A zingy zesty snack!

This is it! I am definitely going to be losing some weight this summer and it's going to be partly with the help of the Boots Shapers low calorie range. There is a Boots near where I work and they have a pretty good 'meal deal' at the moment where you can get three good lunch items for only £2.99. The Boots Shapers range includes salads, sandwiches, drinks, crisps and snack bars. In the snack bar category I have recently discovered a tasty little number which is the Shapers lemon and yogurt nougat bar. When I first saw this combination I wasn't sure whether I would like it but I thought I would give it a try and I'm glad I did as it does taste absolutely delicious! The bar comes in a very bright yellow wrapper with a tantalising picture of some lemons - it sort of reminds me of the Mediterranean! On Shapers products the calories are very visible and it's good to see that the number in this bar is only ninety one. It also tells you that there is 2.5 grams fat, 2.0 grams saturates and 14 grams sugar. There is also a very big 'V' on a green circle showing that it is suitable for vegetarians. Also on the wrapper there is a good description of the bar that says that it is a lemon flavoured nougat bar with lemon flavoured fruit pieces covered in a yogurt flavoured coating. I actually find this description quite puzzling. What are these 'lemon flavoured fruit pieces'? Surely they should be lemon pieces. I have this rather bizarre picture in my mind of apples or pears being flavoured with lemon! But maybe I'm just being a bit daft! On the wrapper it also promises to 'put a zing in your step'. I'm not really sure whether this is true or not but it certainly is a rather tasty treat. When you unwrap it, you are met with a soft, pale lemon bar. It's a bit squidgy to touch, especially on a warm day and would probably benefit from being kept in a fridge. The yogurt coating is very smooth and as soon as you bite into it you do get a very zesty taste of lemons which is just delicious. I do really like the taste of lemons and the best thing about this bar is that the lemon taste is so strong. It's very smooth to the taste and can literally melt in your mouth. There is really no need to chew but be careful if you do as it can be a little bit sticky on the teeth. The smoothness is mixed up a little because of the fruit pieces. These have an interesting effext on the texture and also add to the variety of tastes which all work together very well (despite my initial doubts). I think that this bar is quite unusual in the combination of tastes and textures but they all work together really well. I love the taste and because there are only 91 calories in a bar it is likely to become a regular favourite for me! If you bought this bar on its own in Boots it would cost 45 pence but it can be bought as part of a meal deal which makes it all very good value - especially when you remember that you will get Boots Advantage points too!
