      Good as a treat

Although popcorn is generally viewed as a cinema treat, it is also great for packed lunches, parties, watching films at home or just as a sweet snack when you're at home. It's not the healthiest and you are much better off having a piece of fruit but popcorn can be the tastier option, in my opinion.

This toffee popcorn is very sweet and the popcorn is not hard and doesn't have too many bits that stick in your teeth. It can get quite sickly if eaten in excess and so I personally don't recommend it for the cinema. I usually get the cinema sweet flavour popcorn though as I think it is less sickly and it also doesn't get your hands as sticky. The smaller six pack version is probably better as the portions are smaller and as they are individually wrapped they are more convenient.

Butterkist toffee popcorn comes in a pack of 200 grams. It's fairly big and it's more fit for sharing. I usually get it from Poundland as this is where it's cheapest but it is also widely available and when we go to the cinema it is most convenient to buy it from Co-op which is just opposite the Odeon It costs around £1- £1.50 in most shops. It's much cheaper to buy popcorn elsewhere from the cinema as it is much cheaper.

Per 25 grams there is 105 kcal which is quite good but I'd probably eat more than that! There is 13.7 grams of sugar which is quite high. This is a good occasional treat as part of a healthy lifestyle.

      A sweet and tasty popcorn

'Butterkist has been making Popcorn since 1938'

I have always liked Popcorn. I did another review on a salted popcorn which is usually my favourite popcorn. When I was a child I used to eat this Butterkist popcorn. Peoples tastes change and vary throughout their lives and when the salted type popcorn became available I preferred that. I often buy the microwave packets. When I was in America a few years ago, they had a really lovely popcorn which was sort of buttery and salty at the same time. I was shopping at Iceland yesterday and I spotted this Butterkist popcorn in handy little packs of 6 bags; priced at only £1.00. Its actually rare for me to buy Butterkist as my children have been enjoying eating the salted popcorn. However, there were a few reasons why I bought this , apart from its good value; My sons eating habits and tastes seem to be changing a bit at the moment. He is enjoying eating salad; he has been speaking about getting a more sweeter type of popcorn and after all the salted popcorn is salty, so you have to be a bit careful about that regarding the children.

My son had his friend staying over too, so I thought his would be a nice little treat for them. Last night, I offered the popcorn around and it was enjoyed by all. There were 2 little bags left and I was hungry and thought id try one as it has been so long since I had a bag. I really enjoyed them! And in fact I ate the 2 bags! They are sweet, buttery and the toffee coating is delicious. I realised that I had forgotten how much I liked Butterkist! I really like the packaging also; its colourful and in foil type packaging and this keeps the contents nice and fresh.

Each 25g bag only has 105 kcals in it. I think that's quite low considering how sweet they taste.

Butterkist Toffee popcorn is a great tasting popcorn which children seem to love; highly recommend.

        yummy

Today while trying to break into a £10 for the bus I went to the poundshop. While there I saw a 200g bag of Butterkist Toffee popcorn. It is suitable for vegetarians and is Halal certified.

You can buy it in tubs or packets like this one. The 200g is like a large crips packet made of flimsy shiny paper. This keeps the popcorn extra crunchy, but when I opend it ,it split too easily and half the popcorn flew out all over the floor.

The taste is totally delicious and addictive. Each piece is your average size , but none of them are annoyingly stuck together like some brands. They are covered in a thick crunchy layer of golden toffee It is very very sweet and buttery, which make me think it would be full of calories. When you bite into it , it has the crunchiest bite, all the way through. No soft squishy centres or hard seeds.

These are well worth £1 and I shall be buying them again.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Perfect movie snack.

When it comes to popcorn I honestly do not think you can beat toffee popcorn and my favourite brand has to be Butterkist.

It comes in the easily recognisable red foil bag and contains 200g. This means that it is great to share with others, whether watching a movie at home or in the cinema. It costs around £1.50-£2 for a bag of this size.

The popcorn itself is normal popcorn, except that it is covered in crisp, smooth toffee. The combination of the toffee and the popcorn is absoloutley delicious, the popcorn is sweet, but not too sweet as to you cannot eat it.

The toffee itself tastes almost caramlised and creamy, yet you can definitley taste the sweetness of the sugars in there.

This is very moreish so you do find yourself diving back in the bag for some more, which is when it does become quite sickly. So I tend to get a small bowl, pour some in there and then just east what is in there as this way it doesn't become too sickly.

        Kcal
        105 Per 25g
        415 Per 100g

As you can see it is not the most healthiest snack on the planet, but should be fine if eaten in moderation.

Overall I would reccomend this for a yummy snack (to be shared) when watching a film!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

OK, but only for an occasional indulgence

I was recently at a family buffet tea and noticed a bowl of Butterkist Toffee popcorn on the table. I have never been much of a fan of this but I do like popcorn in general and I couldn't resist popping a few kernels on my plate. I persuaded myself that it was worth the extra calories, because after reminding myself of the taste, I could of course review the popcorn on Dooyoo!

Butterkist is probably the best know brand of popcorn and the toffee packaging is quite iconic, being bright red with a picture of the popcorn at the bottom and the large, brightly coloured Butterkist heart logo at the top.

Inside the bag you will find popcorn pieces that are around the same size as normal sweet or salted popcorn, or perhaps slightly bigger. Each piece is covered in toffee which ranges between being a thin layer on some parts and quite thick in some places such as the dips in the corn. The toffee makes the popcorn very sweet and caramel-y but it also makes it stick to your teeth. It can become quite sickly after a while and is not as more-ish as salted popcorn.

A 200 gram bag of this popcorn costs £1.30 from Asda. Alternatively you can buy it as six 30 gram snack packs for the same price, which is handy for taking out with you for the day or for car journeys.

A 30 gram serving of this popcorn has 125 calories, 3 grams of fat, 1.1 grams of saturates and a huge 16.5 grams of sugar. I was surprised by this as I thought popcorn was supposed to be a reasonably healthy snack. However the reasons behind these values became clear when I looked at the list of ingredients. Toffee comes first and accounts for 80 per cent of the product, with maize only accounting for 20 per cent. And of course the main ingredients in toffee are glucose syrup, sugar and butter, so it's not surprising that this snack isn't too good for you or for your waistline!

          Yummy

This has always been one of our favourite snacks if we are ever watching a film at home or have friends round, and now my girlfriend has put me onto a diet, it also means i eat this stuff a lot more, rather than chocolate.

The butterkist brand now includes cinena sweet popcorn, toffee popcorn, microwavable popcorn, organic popcorn, this includes sea salt, and a natural cane sugar flavour. I don't really go for any organic foods, so cannot comment on these varieties, but out of the others i have tried, i would definitely say the toffee is the best!

A 100gram bag of this stuff contains only 105 calories, and 1.1grams of saturated fat! this is pretty good going considering its ingredients is 70% toffee! This is an ideal snack to replace chocolate, a typical 100g mars bar which 449calories! and 17.4grams of fat! Also comparing to popcorn that a cinema sells, this stuff really is quite kind on the body, most cinema's do not disclose the calories & fat amount in their popcorn, but i guarantee it will be more than that of Butterkist.

The price of this is also very good, a large bag can be bought for around 99p, compare that to cinema prices, where you will be paying £4 plus! Whenever we go, i make sure my girlfriend has her biggest handbag, so we can fill it! Our local Odeon doesn't like us taking in our own food!

Overall, a very nice, sweet tasty snack, well recommended

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Perfect for cinema use and a night in.

I'm always buying Butterkist products but this one has to be favourite due to its delicious taste and its really is addictive once you get started! Its got that bit more kick than the other popcorns they do and its really one for those with a sweet tooth!
I usually buy it from my local ASDA for just £1.30 for 200g which really is good value. You can buy them in a pack of 6 'lunchbox' size packets but after all the packaging is taken out, there really isn't much left to eat so i'd definetly stick to the bigger bag.
The packaging is freshly sealed to keep all the flavours locked inside. As soon as you open it, youre greated with a rich smell of toffee which makes your mouth water. In my opinon, its the best popcorn because of these rich flavours and cruchy texture.
Most the popcorn itsself are generously covered in toffee and at times, can be a little too much. But if you love your toffee, you will love these.
The plain popcorn you can buy for £1 at ASDA is just that, too plain. These however, keep you wanting more and more and for an extra 30p, you can't complain.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Buy them and treat yourself!

I just picked up a big bag of this in the pound shop. I havent had it for years, but that was just because id forgotted how good it is - highly addictive and totally unshareable (despite this being called a sharing bag).

You cant miss this bright red bag in the supermarket (or your local film rental shop) with its big white butterkist logo. Inside the bag, you find perfectly popped pieces of popcorn - crunchy on the outside whilst soft and white in the middle. Each outside piece is coated in that traditional, caramely toffee coating - its crunchy to bite through but melts like butter in your mouth. Delicious!

Because these are so nice, you just know that they are going to be really bad. Heres the ingredients: -

            Toffee (80%)
            Glucose Syrup
            sugar
            Butter
            Soya Oil
            Salt
            Single Cream
            Molasses
            Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin)
            Maize

Calorie wise - theres 385 calories in a 100g bag, and 8g of fat!

None of that particularly screams healthy snack does it? Its the poor nutrition that has made me knock off a star. But its not like this is the type of thing i would have as a regular snack. Besides, if you are watching the weight then they do have a light version!

I bought a 200g bag in the poundshop, which is a bargain! Grab a bag and treat yourself to a good night in!!

            Disadvantages

            .

I like snacking on things, but it is more Cakes, Crisps and Chocolate bars that we go for, well I do anyway. The wife likes Popcorn and although it is more Microwave stuff she gets, we picked up a bag of this the other week when Asda had their offer for 3 for £3 on a wide range of things

I think this normally costs about £1.20 for the bag. It doesn't look a big bag, but the Popcorn is quite heavy and it is all gathered at the bottom of the bag.

This is pretty sweet, and I would say you can taste the sweet more than the popcorn which is nestled inside. The Popcorn bits are quite small and seem fluffy inside. The Suger syrup type coating isn't that thick, but ok for the area that it covers. It is slighty crunchy and a little bit hard, but it comes away easy enough and you just put a bit of Popcorn right in you mouth and that way you get al the flavouring in 1 go.

This isn't that good for you and is full of sugar and calories, so this has turned a quite healthy snack into a bad one, but it is nice for a change, and I would have some of this again.

            my first review

Butterkist is the United Kingdom's best selling brand of popcorn and i would have to a say i wouldent argue the case that butterkist is the best popcorn. It is certainly my favourite brand and in turn the one I tend to eat the most. Over the years they have bought out many different flavours of this popcorn but my personal favourite has to be this toffee flavour probably because I have a sweet tooth and this is a great way to get a quick and yummy sugar fix.

            what it taste's like
well like i said there are diffrent flavours but i will concentrate on the toffe flavour in this review. well the clue is really in the name so there is much to say its quite sweet and crunchy so i would recommend you to by this product if you havent already. This popcorn also has a chewy texture to it along with the crunch and I think those two textures work really well together and makes the overall taste even nicer.

I can't resist Butterkist lol thanks for reading. Jay

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Eat in moderation

I bought a large bag of popcorn that contained 200g from home bargains today on one of there star deals for 69p.

Popcorn for me no matter the brand symbolises relaxing watching a film as I am full of cold I thought it would be a nice idea to sit on the sofa with a DVD and a bowl of popcorn in the hope that my son wouldn't be too demanding.

I have always considered Butter Kist to be the superior brand but I haven't tried these in quite a few years so this afternoon poured them in a big bowl and at on the sofa and shared them with my son.

The bag is a distinctive metallic red with enlarged pictures on the toffee popcorn. The bag is foil sealed which is designed to keep in freshness.

When you look at the ingredient it is clear this is no way a low fat snack as it is 80% toffee
When you glance down towards the nutritional information it states each 100g contains

              415kcal
              79.3 g carbohydrate
              10.0g fat

This I find quite shocking I have eaten ready meals with significantly less calories and fat.

              Allergy advice

              Contains: milk, Soya and sulphates
May contain traces of peanuts and other nuts

              The taste test

Well for my two and a half year old son they clearly didn't look appetising as he said "yuck" and refused to even try them for me it was a different story

Each popcorn cluster is covered in a light golden coating that has a glazed effect. As you bite through the crisp the crisp shell your teeth plunge into a soft fluffy popcorn taste which crates a fantastic combination. The toffee is a fine layer which means that there are no chewy bits the toffee is extremely sweet but is balanced out against the plain flavour from the popcorn.

One of the advantages of this over microwave popcorn it that there are no burnt bits in the bottom of the bag.

If they could make this lower calorie then I would highly recommend it but then I guess that it would impact on the flavour.

If you can't care about your calorie intake that enjoy otherwise moderation is needed.

                Disadvantages

Buy when you want a treat!

Butterkist toffee popcorn is a premade popcorn which is coated in a toffee flavouring.

The toffee popcorn comes in a bright red bag and has a fun and animated design, with a large logo and pictures of popcorn on the front.

You can buy this bag in your local supermarket and also in convenience places like the petrol station and the cinema.

The bag is a foil sort of designed bag that keeps the insides fresh, but I am not sure if it is recyclable. When you open the bag you do not get the nice fresh smell like you do when you microwave your own popcorn.

The texture of the popcorn is crunchie, and this is due to the coating. Once you get through the crunchie exterior the insides and soft and the kernal inside is hard. The popcorn itself is lovely and the toffee coating adds sweetness and compliments the flavour. The flavour is the best part. The texture is not as good as fresh popcorn as it is a bit more stale tasting, but really not that bad.

This popcorn is one of the more expensive brands, and even more so if you buy it in a convenience place. I would buy this as a treat or when no other alternatives are available and stick to the microwave popcorn when at home.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

how butterkist helped my ever shrinking pocket.

I went to the pictures this morning with my little girl and her best friend. It was a last minute thing. As its her brothers birthday on Tuesday and only just over a month to Christmas I'm on a budget at the moment. I had packed my bag with lots of treats but had forgotten to buy popcorn. Obviously this is what they wanted, and being the daft softie I am, I went out into the foyer to buy some. I asked the girl behind the counter how much it was for a junior popcorn to which she replied £3.65!!!! that's right £3.65. My flabber was gasted I have to say. I decide to get in my car and drive around the corner to the local shop where I purchased a large bag of butterkist popcorn for £1.00.
The best thing about this popcorn was that inside the large outer bag was six snack packs I thought this was a very clever idea because I don't like the children to eat too many sweet things. so this is ideal as it is enough for them to have a nice share, without overeating. Also the individual bags can be easily stored in lunch boxes as a treat. I was very impressed with this smaller snack size concept and when you work it out it costs less than 20p a pack. unbelievable value!!
The taste of the popcorn was gorgeous ( I had to have a snack pack for research purposes) The flavour was toffee and anyone with a sweet tooth will not be disappointed. I have to say I am more of a savoury girl and I prefer salted popcorn but This product certainly scores 10/10 for its flavour. Each individual piece of popcorn is lavishly coated in toffee flavouring. The toffee being very sweet and creamy in taste. The popcorn is very crunchy. infact that is the only criticism, the texture of the popcorn is too hard for my liking. I prefer my popcorn to be a bit softer.
When thinking about the packaging, I would say that the bright red bag is calling you from the shelf when your browsing. It is certainly very eye catching. Obviously the name butterkist is what sold it to me as you know that the name is highly regarded in the popcorn world and therefore you know your buying a good standard product, The main outer bag displays lots of information. It gives you suggestions on how these snack packs could be used. Offering examples such as at the office or on a picnic. It also displays critical information such as the ingredients and allergy advice. Also the nutritional facts are clearly stated. What I found very impressive was that butterkist state on the back of the packets that they have a web site which you can visit to find out latest offers and more about the process of making the popcorn.
I have already touched on the price of this product, but I feel I must say that I think it was tremendous value for money. I do not understand how they can retail this quality product at such a low price.
Finally I would like to say that I am certainly not a skinflint infact my hubby sometimes moans about my over spending. But I really could not justify paying £3.65 for a small pot of popcorn and even if I were a millionaire I still wouldn't buy it just for the principal. I think It is exploitation I really do. So what's it to be? Mass produced low quality popcorn for an extortionate price. Or high quality well known branded toffee flavoured popcorn for £1.00 ? I know which I would choose.
Also I think Its important to mention that the kids loved the popcorn, even mentioning how delicious it was coming home in the car. It was a success and I would certainly buy it again en route to the pictures!!

A perfect snack to have while watching a movie, to share with friends!

I've never really been the biggest fan of popcorn. Even at the cinema, I'd always rather go for some sweets over the oddly shaped puff balls that everyone else was eating. No matter whether it was salted or sweet, it always tasted bland, and the way the corn husks got stuck in your teeth did my head in.

But then I discovered Butterkist's Toffee Popcorn, and I was smitten. Unlike regular popcorn, Butterkist's has been coated in a crunchy toffee coating, that acts like a hard shell, and makes the popcorn more like a sweet. The toffee is really tasty, and not overly sweet, but with that kind of flavour that will have you stuffing more and more into your face!

This addictiveness may be one of its downfalls though, as between you and some friends you can get through a bag in no time. And of course, if you have too much, you can end up making yourself feel sick!

It is a great snack to share though. We regularly have Guitar Hero nights, and watch a lot of movies with friends, and Butterkist's popcorn is always one of the nibbles we have on the table. As long as hands are wiped before going back to the instruments at least! The toffee popcorn can get pretty sticky on your hands, so you will find yourself brushing your hands together to get the stickiness off.

The popcorn is not massively high in calories either, and as a snack for kids, there are small lunch box sized packets available in multipacks.

All in all, a great treat, especially when watching a movie with friends!

Great handy snack bags, and lovely freshly toffee coated popcorn to die for.

                  BUTTERKIST TOFFEE POPCORN.

Going to the cinema costs enough these days, especially when taking your relations with you, and being my grandchildren it works out to be an expensive day out.

Thats without the extra expense of snacks to eat inside, so i usually go to Poundland and spent about five pounds i usually get a few different selections of crisps, popcorn, and chocolate and a few drinks, i usually pop them into a large handbag type of bag, and take them inside the cinema with me, naughty but saves an absolute fortune.

Today i managed to buy a Multi Pack of these scrummy Toffe Popcorn, from Poundland in one of their baskets at the front of the shop for £1.00.

The Bag contains six packets of lovely buttery toffee popcorn.

These bags of popcorn come in a large shiny bag of red, there is written in big white letters the words Butterkist on the front, they contain 150grams inside, and are most suitable for vegetarians, and are recyclable too.

These are really great little bags of popcorn, because they are foil sealed to keep in their freshness.

You can keep them in your car, for a snack whenever needed.
You can hide a bag of these at your desk, as they arnt messy.
They are great to have at a picnic.
They are great to pop into your childrens lunchbox, for their school day.

                  Soya Oil, Emulsifers, and Maize.

                  The Taste **********

Well they are lovely pieces of popcorn, and i did find that they were quite big pieces, not burned cooked to perfection, with a toffee coating which is also so buttery once you start eating these you cant stop, thank goodness for the little bags, and they are crunchy with every bite you take, they taste fresh crunchy, and the coating to die for, lovely and crunchy and sweet but not sickly.

My grandchildren love these, but also i think the adults enjoy these just as much.

Great tasting popcorn, with a really lovely buttery toffee coating you will adore.
