Cadbury Creme Egg Minis
Advantages: Cadburys chocolate, good size as a treat
Disadvantages: A bit fiddly to unwrap
I was wandering round Boots the other day doing a bit of shopping when I decided that I fancied a little treat so I decided to buy a packet of Cadbury Crème Egg Minis. Yes I know I have Type 2 Diabetes but I figured with these minis I could have just a bit of chocolate at a time.
I purchased a 100g pack containing 9 of these little eggs. Each egg contains just 50 calories as compared with 171 calories in a standard sized crème egg. So basically the standard sized egg is about three and a half times as big as one of these little darlings.
The packet has the Cadbury logo and Crème Egg Minis written on it and is unmistakeable in the corporate Cadbury colours of purple, yellow and red.
The crème egg minis are exactly the same as their big brothers - they are just smaller!
As I have already mentioned the size difference ratio is about 1:3.5. The mini version is just over an inch long. The eggs are wrapped in the same shiny, colourful paper (which can be recycled with your cans!) with the Cadbury logo and the words Crème Egg.
They are a bit difficult to unwrap being as small as they are makes the whole process a bit fiddly and you are likely to get chocolate on your fingers too! Don't get your child all dressed up to go out and then give them one of these to unwrap then!
Anyway once you have it all unwrapped and have licked your fingers so as not to waste any chocolate (well it IS Cadburys after all!) you then get that lovely smell that is Cadburys Milk Chocolate.
Now how do you eat it? To be honest it seems a bit daft to bite it in two as you will end up wearing more of it so I just pop it in my mouth all in one! Come on you don't need too big a mouth to be able to do that!
The outer casing is made from Cadburys Milk Chocolate and the filling is yellow and white fondant. Obviously it is coloured yellow and white to look like the inside of a real egg.
The taste is just as good as the larger version but for me not as sickly. The Crème Eggs have always been a bit big for my liking and I find that I get fed up with the sweetness before I have finished the egg.
This is not the case with Crème Egg Minis - they are just the right size for me.
Each little egg contains:
1.9g fat of which 1.2g is saturated
A 100g bag which, as I said before, contains 9 eggs costs just £1.09.
In conclusion I think these are great if you find the standard sized eggs a bit too much or if you are on a diet for whatever reason as a 50 calorie treat is just the job!
Summary: A great little treat!
