Advantages: Tasty, fairly low in calories, filling and rather cheap.

Disadvantages: None for me.

I often find myself down the 'world food' isles of supermarkets as the Indian food section provides some different vegetarian snacks for me to try. It was whilst I was looking for some gelatine free jelly down this isle in my local Tesco a few weeks back that I discovered these Cofresh Coconut Bars. I absolutely love coconut and found them far too tempting to ignore so added a couple to my trolley.

My local Tesco store sells these 50g bars for 39p although I've since found 25g bars in Morrisons and Asda (30p in Morrisons and 32p in Asda). Naturally I stick to buying the bigger bars, double the amount for less than 10p extra!

These come in clear plastic wrapping which allows you to see the coconut bar contained. A blue strip in the middle of the rectangular bar shows the name of the product and that it is Kosher, gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. There's an ingredients list at the back too along with nutritional information.

The bars are made up of coconut, sugar, glucose and vanilla flavouring (along with a couple of other ingredients I've never heard of) and each 50g bar contains 364 calories which makes this a nice alternative treat bar to chocolate, 50g of Mars Bar contains over 900 calories! And actually, I'd rather have one of these than a chocolate bar anyway. They're tastier and don't come with the added guilt.

These are just lovely. The ample amounts of coconut flakes are nice enough but these are also quite moist so they're not as dry as plain coconut. They're quite sweet and the vanilla flavouring is detectable but not overly powerful. I find a 50g bar to be quite filling too and despite them being enjoyable they don't leave me craving another one (at least not for a couple of hours anyway)! I expected these to be rather crumbly and messy to eat but they're not and I can easily break pieces off if I want too. They're still soft though and just a delight to eat really! If you love coconut then you'll love these. I haven't even glanced at a Bounty since discovering these (and I really do love my Bounty Bars)! They're a tasty and low calorie treat and that's not something I come across very often!

Summary: A sweet treat with less calories!
