~ Personal Experience ~
Yes it is sweetie review day but its Friday and I am feeling happy and want to write about some of the great trendy sweets which were about when I was growing up as a child. Fried eggs, now they were a classic penny chewy sweet which never let you down no matter how hot or cold the day may be.
If you liked penny sweets then you had to love these. I used to love eating the white part of the sweet around the yellow jelly like centre and then suck on the left over yellow yolk and it used to make them last longer.
You used to get these in most 10p mix's and if you didn't you would feel slightly robbed. I used to like eggs and the white chocolate mouses.
~ Taste Test ~
The white part of the egg was a bit bland and didn't taste of much, a bit like eating plastic but still you got to eat the good part afterwards or just eat it whole it's your choice. The yellow part of the egg tasted a bit like an orange but still very tangy and tasty.
~ Smell Test ~
They didn't smell of much really, just your bog standard penny sweet which if strung together with a bag of other penny sweeties would make an aroma worth queuing for.
Price & Shop
If you use the link below, you will find them on this website and can cost you around £1.83 per quarter which is the standard for most penny sweets on here.
You can normally still buy these types of sweets in most sweet shops or newsagents in the UK and are fairly cheap. You can even sometimes be surprised if you buy lucky bags, as they sometimes have these types of sweets inside.
~ In My opinion...~
I never thought that when I got to the age of 26 I would still get excited over fried eggs but I do and that's mainly because I have so many happy memories of these classic sugary devils.
Most people can relate to buying these per quarter and getting them in little white paper bags. They are not the most appealing sweets in the world when it comes to presentation but still a great treat for the classroom and if you wanted to get the girl's attention you had a crush on, just offer her a fried egg, jobs a guddun!
~ Overall Rating ~
Summary: A classic penny sweetie which is still going strong today!
