I love sweets, I could eat sweets all day and one of my favourite types of sweet is a fruity jelly bean. I really love the Jelly Belly brand of jelly bean but I find them rather expensive for what they are and don't really buy them that often, preferring to buy these Haribo Jelly Beans which are sometimes on offer for just £1. I find these Haribo jelly beans are quite a bit different than Jelly Belly jelly beans though. Jelly Bellys are quite sweet and juicy and I do really enjoy that but what I love about these Haribo jelly beans is that they are more like traditional, old fashioned jelly beans and have a lovely chewy jelly taste to them. Now, according to an article I read, "Haribo is one of the biggest manufacturers of gummy and jelly sweets in the world, with its products mainly consisting of Gummy Bears, other jelly sweets and liquorice. There are five factories in Germany and 13 throughout the rest of Europe. There are sales offices in almost every country in Europe as well as in the United States and Australia. Haribo is a German confectionery company, founded in 1920 by Johannes ("Hans") Riegel Sr. Haribo is headquartered in Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and the name is an acronym for Hans Riegel, Bonn." So there you have it. Haribo make so many different kinds of sweets and unfortunately you do need to search quite hard to find a bag of the jelly beans as a lot of stores don't stock them, preferring to just carry the kids sweetie mixes. I find these jelly beans though in my local store which is nice. They comes in a green bag with a picture of a teddy on a skateboard on the front. The bag is see through so you can see the lovely jelly beans inside. The bag contains a mixture of bean shaped sugar coated fruit flavoured gums. They do have quite a curve to them in shape which I like as this makes them quite fun to eat, I bite right into the middle and break them in half and then eat them in two go's. I find the outside of the jelly beans gives you a little bit of a crunch which is nice as you have a really tasty sugar coated shell. The colour of the jelly bean corresponds to the taste inside although they do taste fairly similar in my opinion. I like that you get lots of different flavours and colours in one bag so lots of variety. My favourite by far is the pink jelly bean, very tasty. As I've said above I find the jelly inside to be a really nice consistency and quite chewy. It is juicy although not as juicy as a Jelly Belly but still really tasty and a sweet I really enjoy. The jelly beans contain no artificial colours and are suitable for vegetarians. The ingredients are listed as, "Glucose Syrup, Sugar, Modified Maize Starch, Citric Acid, Flavourings, Fruit and Plant Concentrates (Apple, Aronia, Blackcurrant, Carrot, Elderberry, Grape, Hibiscus, Kiwi, Lemon, Mango, Nettle, Orange, Passion Fruit, Spinach), Glazing Agents (Vegetable Oil, Beeswax and Carnauba Wax), Invert Sugar Syrup, Fruit Extract (Carob)," so not the healthiest snack ever but a nice great to enjoy from time to time.
