“ Brand: Humdinger / Type: Candy „
My mum got a voucher for a free Humdingers item and she got this Crystallised Stem Ginger because there was nothing else they make that she liked the look of! lol I'm glad she did though because I used half the bag in some muffins today and it's delish stuff!
The ginger is in quite small pieces and it smells proper strong as soon as you open the bag, I LOVE the smell of ginger but my mum reckons it's too strong even though she said the taste of the ginger in the muffins is nice..... she's not mad on ginger! lol
It's got a nice texture and is nice and chewy but the sugary coating melts in your mouth and it's more like a sweet than a spice to eat. I don't think you should be EATING that many on their own because they get a bit warm after a bit but you can put them in cakes and biscuits.
In the muffins the ginger gets a bit of a crunch to it, it's still soft though and is both things at once if you know what I mean! The taste of the bits of ginger is delish and I put quite a few into the mixture so each bite you get a good amount and it's wicked.
I deffo recommend this crystallised ginger for a nice natural tasting ingredient in cakes and biscuits, it's a bit more interesting than choc chip and things like that.
This came free with my mums voucher so I'm not sure how much it costs, it came from Tesco though and it's worth every penny that it didn't cost! lol I'll buy it again when I want something gingery and am definately going to try making some ginger cookies tomorrow with what's left out of this pack.
