Marks & Spencer Percy Pigs
Advantages: really fruity and enjoyable
Disadvantages: way too much sugar!
I am a big fan of these sweeties and one of my mates works in Marks & spencer and bless her cotton socks she bought me 2 percy pig piggy banks which came with packs of these sweets! Isn't she lovely?! lol.
They come in a plastic bag, with a hut picture with a window to see into the packet to see the juicy sweets. The pack is designed with lots of cute piggy faces everywhere. The pack is opened like a packet of crisps so this generally means I am enticed to eat them all in one sitting (as I am currently doing lol).
The sweets themselves are a subtle pink gummy sweet, in the shape of a cute little piggy head. The ears have a more dark pink - haribo gummy look to them and a slightly sweeter taste also. The percy pigs are a sweet taste, but hard to pinpoint as the ingredients say elderberry, grape, blackcurrant, fruit concentrates (3%) and raspberry, strawberry, cherry and grape flavourings. If I was to try and pigeon hole them in a flavour I would say they smell and taste like a blend of strawberry and raspberry more than anything.
Upon opening the pack, the sweet aroma does waft out and chewing on the sweets they are extremely chewable without jaw numbingly hard or annoying lol. Biting into them, you can almost taste the fruit juices spilling out and I think this is what makes them more addictive!
Of course being sweets they have a high sugar content but (unlike me who doesn't!) if you eat them in moderation you will be fine! A 100g bag (the one I am nibbling through) contains 74g of sugars when the guideline daily amount is 90g...eek. So best to have a couple and share them around! They do also contain pork gelatine so these will not be suitable for vegans or those who do not eat pork.
A 100g pack costs about £1.29 I think in my local M&S so they are not on the cheap scale of the sweet range but now and again I buy them as I think they are worth it. Sweetaholics will love these as a really fruity and enjoyable sweet packed full of flavour and super duper addictive! I would totally recommend them :)
Summary: lovely addictive, piggy sweets, just make sure you brush your teeth!
