Advantages: Look gorgeous. Tangy flavours.
Disadvantages: Not much info on packet.
Skittles are a really yummy nostalgia sweet that I remember eating as a kid. There is something about them that is really moreish, the lovely fruity flavours and the way you can just pop one after another into your mouth!
A 195g bag of Skittles is currently available in Tesco on offer for £1. This represents great value, because you get loads of sweets for that price, and they are perfect for sharing with the family.
Skittles come in a vivid red shiny bag, with a rainbow on the front, depicting all the flavour varieties: Red for Strawberry, Yellow lemon, orange (!), Purple blackcurrant and Green lime. On the back of the bag, there is a rainbow sticker that can be used to reseal the bag is you don't eat them all in one go. The nutritional information is on the back of the bag and reads as follows per 100g:
This is a bit poor really, because nobody, not even be, would eat 100g of skittles in one go, and there is no information about how much sugar they contain. The information itself is on a tiny box on the back of the back, in microscopic lettering. The back of the pack also includes the ingredients and the main ingredient is sugar. It also contains real fruit juices, which add to the zingy flavour.
Skittles are described on the pack as "Fruit flavour chewy sweets made with fruit juice in a crisp sugar shell". They are small round sweets, ideal ly sized for kids, which come in various bright colours. Each sweet has a white letter "s" on it, which is quite cute. They don't melt in your hand, which is good, and they can be sucked or chewed, though I always chew mine. The shell is bursting with fruity flavour, and when you bite through, you get to the soft, white, chewy centre, which gives an even more powerful flavour hit! The flavour is quite intense, but it is never overpowering or unpleasant. They really freshen your mouth.
Skittles are ideal for taking on days out, or to the cinema. They look gorgeous in a glass bowl on display in the home, or in a gumball style sweet dispenser, although they never last long.
Skittles are made by Mars, which is one of my favourite confectionery companies. they have recently hit on some new variations of Skittles, such as the sour version, but the original has earned its place as a classic. The colours are particularly appealing to kids, but they are a sweet anyone can enjoy anytime.
Summary: A sweet treat, and a bargain for £1!
