... your teeth after eating. It comes in a blue packet, you can usually only buy the long ones individually, but there are also the smaller sweet size that comes with other different chewy treats. The yellow part tastes of lemon and it is a really strong flavour, it contains 1g of fat for each bar and also 76 calories so its quite a good pudding choice although the sugar kind of cancels out any goodness! It is almost like a sherbet lemon sweet but because its chewy and in a bar form it doesnt really have that same vintage ...more

Having worn braces for over 3 years up until a couple of months ago and having jaw surgery then sweets especially very chewy ones were a definite no no for a while. This especially as I broke my brace on a sweet a few weeks after I had them on and at the age of 26 I found myself sitting in the orthodontic waiting room feeling like an embarrassed naughty teenager, thinking of excuses to tell the orthodontist without having to admit I had been eating sweets. So since the braces came off and my jaw almost has its full strength back I have been eating the things I couldn't before. One of these sweets is the great Swizzels Matlow Original Lemon Flavour Refresher ...  Read the complete review

Refreshing Nostalgic However Rough On The Teeth (747 words)

My son aged 7 years old now is in danger of turning into a sweetaholic given half the chance. It's a bit of a shame really because he used to prefer yogurts and fruit however we have somehow managed to limit his intake to a Saturday night only where he gets to choose a couple of items from the local shop. This is a great way for him to have something to look forward too and hopefully will instil the idea that "sweeties" should only be enjoyed on special days and in addition trying to protect his beautiful healthy white teeth. This is a fabulous idea in principal however with Christmas not too far behind us he did receive literally boxes full of various ...  Read the complete review

Matlow's New Refreshers Chew: A Refresher Of A Sweet! (292 words)

I went to my sister's school Christmas Fayre on Saturday and won one of the tombola prizes which was a box full of sweeties, I loved sweets especially the old fashioned sorts so couldn't wait to dig in when we got home! There was loads of Refreshers in the box, I haven't had one of these for agggggges and don't really know why because they are so yummy. You have to watch how you take the paper off because if you're not careful then it will stick to the sweet, it doesn't matter that much but tastes a bit slimey when the paper gets wet! lol On the wrapper Refreshers say they are a fizzy lemon flavoured sweet and thinking about it that's probably ...  Read the complete review

When I was little my mum would pick me up from school and we would pop into the local post office, which was on route to our home. I would be allowed a mix and I used to spend ages, salivating over the various 1p delights that they had on offer. I used to debate in my mind what sweets should be worthy of entering my 10p mix bag. White mice were a no no as were them flying saucer things that are making my toes curl even now thinking back to them. But oh would it be white golf ball chewing gums, shrimps, jelly bears or the lipstick shaped sweets that would turn mylips red and make me feel really grown up.... oh decisions. One thing was always for certain though and that ...  Read the complete review

I'm 10 years old. Mum has just dropped me off for the school bus, and I've got just enough time to pop in the shop and get some sweets before the bus gets here. I enter the shop, and have a look around. It's then that I spot them, long blue bars, thin and with yellow parts containing the magic red word: Refresher! Yes, like many many people my childhood sweets memories is of the long thin chewy Refresher bar. And it seems that not much has changed. It must be a good 15 years since my taste buds were treated to one of these things, but today, having bought a bumper pack of sweets, I found that these were included, albeit in a smaller, less long ...  Read the complete review
